She doesn’t read music, she plays by ear. She is the real deal a true PRODIGY. She hand picked the musicians for this celebration, some she has collaborated with before but only remotely.

Until recently Yoyoka couldn’t read music; she learns these songs by ear in a remarkably short period of time. Her “secret sauce” seems to be that she instinctively and completely “feels” every song that she plays.

Yoyoka has two faces - the child prodigy we've all gotten accustomed to watching in her covers and the professional child prodigy playing with professional musicians...no theatrics, no upstaging just pure prefessionalism.

@Pat Carey The song may be iconic, but that does not make it a great song. It was very long and very repetitive. Yes, we know Deep Purple, no we don't know the song as it's not what we listen to, Yoyoka and the band were excellent and we said that. Who said we want to comment with authority, not us, we just like finding new artists and happen to do it on YT for a bit of fun. Thanks for the comment and for watching too.

Yoyoka learned to play by ear and can't read sheet music. She is learning, but she has commented that in some ways she thinks it might be a hindrance. She is a natural talent that has also put in the time to become a seasoned profession. At Age 11 she was the youngest ever to be added to DrummerWorld's Top 500 Drummers Of All Time. She listens to a song and or watches a video of the song being played, 2-3 times then can play it. For more difficult songs she has to listen to the 4-5 times. She is at ease with adults because she has been playing with them since Age 4 (live on stage). I think I gave you this link before saying you would appreciate this because it is a Beatle's song. "Japanese kids "Yoyoka" (4 years old ) cover Drum / The Beatles Come Together 4歳 よよか" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHysdKOFepmCh9E She has also been know to give advice (at Age 6) to local musicians who have played in her family's home studio, saying "I think it will sound better if you do it this way". They all looked at her, tried it, and she was right.

Fun fact: Satsuma3042 and the bass player, Koichi Terasawa, did a collaboration with Yoyoka for Ozzy Osborne's "Over the Mountain". Satsuma3042 owns an okonomiyaki restaurant. He makes okonomiyaki on the grill at the "same" time he is playing guitar. (oh. and Paulie Z also sings on this track. I like his voice.).

8? Are you serious? A single-take recording of flawless musicianship and an iconic rock song. It is as near to perfection and you can get. From Ian Paice himself on this:Pinned by YOYOKAよよか Hi Yoyoka, I saw you just had your 12th birthday and played this (Burn) and Mistreated with your friends. Now that is a truly great way to celebrate! As usual you did a wonderful job. Stay safe and well, and keep drumming, Ian

For me, Mistreated was the best of the 10 songs they played, so deep and intense. A 10 for Mistreated and a 9.5 for Burn, but the rest of the songs were also top played. Satch boogie with Li-Sa-X was another highlight.

Hi guys, fantastic reaction and review. Yes, her talent comes from an attraction to the kit at the age of two, before her memories have even formed in her head lol. I believe the drummer for her parents' band sat her on his knee, literally, and had her knocking on them from then on. Since then she's just put in a lot of hard work to develop her natural abilities and feel. She's also lucky enough to have parents who encourage and nurture her talent, and are happy to let her develop at her own pace (she's breaking the sound barrier at this point though lol). They've also given her an incredibly stable and loving childhood. So she really can't go wrong.

@@BritPopsReact You make a good point - she actually genuinely actually enjoys the sounds she's able to coax from her kit. Well she's already got offers from top performers to collaborate, including the one and only Bootsie Collins, who all but invented funk music. She's currently in the US for an extended trip, which can only mean that she's going to be making some awesome music. I just can't wait to see what comes out if it!

Guys . . . . this is NOT a studio session. Well . . . to be perfectly accurate, the family does have a high quality recording setup in their house. However, this was just a "jam session" organized by her parents, to celebrate her 12th birthday. Every one of the tunes that theyve released was a "first take" for the entire band. Yoyoka picked out the tunes she wanted to play ahead of time, so the others all made sure they knew how to play it, but Yeah . . . . they were playing together for the first time, at a birthday party at Yoyoka's house, and this is the live cut. Probably the reason why she seems so "intense" is that the musicians her parents ended up inviting are . . . . well . . . legends in their own right. The details are in the fine print of Yoyoka's own KZbin vids. I know everyone except WAKASA by reputation, since forever (and Id have to add that I know her by reputation NOW), and Im sure that Yoyoka does too. Imagine how nervous you would be if Jeff Beck and Geddy Lee showed up to your 12th birthday party!!!

FWIW, Ive already ripped this entire session for my walkpad. Ill definitely pay to download it once they make a formal release, but . . . This is good as any other rock compilation Ive got.

Dude, if there's one thing I can't stand it's people who have decided to become "KZbin Reactors" that don't effectively research the people they react to. Yoyoka's entire relevant history is captured on video right on her page including a historical write up of her accomplishments listed in the description on every video. there are links to her website, tons of articles on Japanese sites and her family channel. I know you want to inform these dudes, but you shouldn't waste your time trying to give these guys context for what they're seeing. They can and SHOULD be researching the artists that they react to as a part of their job. These guys are getting money from this video. So, why should it be up to fans in the comment section to educate these lazy guys? Don't waste your time, man. I haven't seen one reaction channel on KZbin where the reactors put in anymore effort than running their mouths on a video. Don't do their "job" for them.

@Jack Spratt Aren't you just the happy chap. We usually check out and add information as we go along, we can only do so much research without over-doing it, otherwise we will know what to expect. Usually, if we do a follow up we will add more information, but usually the first time ones, we tend to go in pretty blind. Also, for your information, no money is being made as from these video man and for your information, we enjoy finding new and interesting artists, who we may not have found because people actually took the time to write something constructive, which is how we came across Yoyoka.

You tools rate a song based on length???? That's the most inane thing I've heard from the both of you yet. This song is 47 years old! It's length has been it's length since Ritchie Blackmore wrote it! This ensemble hasn't re-written it. They covered it as is. You have to judge something on what it is, not what it isn't. Well if song length is a predetermining factor in how you rate a RENDITION of that song, don't ever react to a cover of "Stairway to Heaven", "Kashmir", "Achilles Last Stand" or any other of Led Zeppelin's epics. I already know they're going to lose 2 points on length alone. (smh) You 2 bells are weird.
