She stopped by your page yesterday, dude to thank you. So... she IS looking at your stuff. Also if you want all of the most relevant links to Yoyoka Soma's catalogue send me your email and I'll give them to you. I know you're a Zeppelin fan and she covers them with some regularity, but you really haven't scratched the surface of her skill set.
@jackspratt7264

@@ronb.9850 I don't. Nandi is the epitome of what I can't stand about lesser skilled musicians. She's 80% theatrics and 20% skill. The flash is what has always turned me off about her. If she dedicated as much time to being a solid player as she does to all of her gimmicks, she'd be good. But I've already seen Yoyoka and Nandi side by side and it wasn't pretty. Nandi got demolished after 2 measures. Plus, if I'm being honest, comparing the two of them isn't fair AT ALL. Just because they're closer in age means nothing. Yoyoka is endorsed by Pearl, Zildjian, Remo, DW, Vic Firth, Roland, Cympad and Nike. Those are PRO endorsements. The kind that get taken away from you if the companies feel you are not a good ambassador for their products. Yoyoka has played over 250 live shows since she was 5. She's played on stage in front of 20,000 people with Fallout Boy and another 7500 with Cyndi Lauper and another few thousand with Char. She's a sessions player, drums in 2 different bands, has written her own music and has played numerous live events all over Japan, was invited to NAMM in 2019 and featured all around L.A., including The Whiskey A Go-Go. She was inducted into Drummer World Magazine's Top 500 Drummer's of ALL TIME last year, which puts her on the same list as the drummers that she's most often compared to, like John Bonham, Chad Smith and Ian Paice. Also, Yoyoka and Nandi are acquainted with each other and have been for years. They're not going to compete, which is humble of Yoyoka and smart for Nandi.

The great thing about Yoyoka is that she always looks like she is having fun while playing. Always smiling. I think that's what you meant by SWAG. I understood what you meant about being a musician and that is why I don't think I could ever be a drummer, I don't think my arms and legs would work independently. Yoyoka makes it look so easy, hell she even took a break and looked at a book during a break in the song.

Thanks for the reactions. This kid has an innate sense of timing. Her hi hat work is not as highly praised as her bass drum work but her hi hat is soo good. And that ‘hi hat keeping time practice’ has always been there since she was younger. She has drumming blood and knows what to do with her chosen instrument and how to improve her craft. As much as she’s gifted, she’s as matured and humble kid.

I had the great good fortune to see Lead Zeppelin the 1st time they played in SF in the very early 70's. She is an excellent drummer she plays like an adult not a child or kid. And sa great as the recordings of Zep are and the live prefomances seem. I can tell you standing 20 ft from him as they played he was other worldly. When the song left the opening and he stepped up...words are hard to find for someone who Played... Everything... The cymbal stands the rim of the snair the seat posts on which he sat... The Frick'n Seat! She is Dope... No doubt about it... And hearing her... Took me back...

Well friend she responded to your reaction to Good Times Bad Times by thanking you. So I think it's safe to say someone has pointed her your way. Did you notice she was clownin' when she read a LZ cover book? You did notice her time keeping with the high hat. That's from the great jazz drummers like Buddy Rich who influenced John Bonham a lot. She met Carmine Appice at NAMM in LA where they both were appearing who taught her some stick tricks. Bonham developed the famous triplets on the kick drum after hearing Carmen Appice playing what Bonzo thought was triplets on the bass drum. Later Appice heard Bonzo play the kick triplets and temarked on them. Bonzo said he got them from Appice who replied "I don't do that!". So John Bonham developed a technique by imitating what he heard. Tall cotton for an 11 year old to be in but she seems to take it in stride. Thanks for your reaction!

And the way Yoyoka kills that bass drum... Bill Burr actually has a comedy piece where he mentions f’ing up his foot trying to play bass drum like Bonham, noble goal for an older single dude 😆 and then he has to walk the dog, in agony. - - sooner or later you gotta watch Yoyoka’s RATM or “Burn” by Deep Purple. 🤘🏼
