I love this little girl, who is not so little anymore. She is 13, I believe. Still the most talent in a drummer that I’ve seen in a long, long time. I’m about to be 74 and drumming for about 60 of those years. Yoyoka is a treasure and I hope we all realize that and let her grow on her own terms. Love, appreciate, and let her have a full life of musical wonders and delights.

There are two Burn videos by Yoyoka. The first one is with the recording and the second one, part of her extensive twelfth birthday sessions with some of the best rock musicians in Japan (and they are GOOD), was her playing with a band. I’d probably suggest the birthday sessions version. And you might check out her playing (with the same musicians) Van Halen’s Jump.
@plumweeping76093 жыл бұрын
A lot of Yoyoka fans have commented on this lol. She was born to parents who enjoy playing in bands. Her parents' band members would come to their house and she would crawl between the places they were playing. When she was a year and a half old, her father noticed her staring at the drum set and thought she might like to play the drums, so he put her in the drum chair, which is when she started playing the drums. She was able to play the drums by the time she could remember (!!) , so I guess she learned how to play the drums in the same way she learned how to speak. She said that the songs she uploads on KZbin are the ones she likes from the Internet or CDs at home, and that her parents were not really interested in Led Zeppelin, so she had to find and choose them herself. She plays the drums by ear (not by sheet music). She also plays drums in a family band, and I assume that she learned the skills necessary to play the songs with the expectation of playing drums in a band. So she said that she plays the drums for songs with vocals, paying attention to the singing voice. I think that's what makes her drumming different from other kids' drumming that you can see on KZbin videos.

That song is NOT easy to play on the drums (esp. the one foot triplet or whatever it was) without a looot of practice and experience and she mastered it when she was 8 years old. Today she's 11-12 and on a whole different level. When she does these covers she listens to the songs 2-3 times (a couple of times more if it's a more complicated song) and learn it by ear (she can't read music). She's definitely a prodigy and she looks like she's having a lot of fun while playing.
