@yoyoTech just found this video as i am looking to upgrade my Lorex system that is over 6 years old and the cameras are starting to show signs of age.. I have a Unifi cloud key gen 2, Unifi USG, a 16-port switch 150W, 2 AC Lites, and 1 AC-LR. I installed these like 4-5 years ago and i have the best WiFi and internet connection ever. How can i get the camera’s integrated into my system so i can ditch the Lorex. Thanks so much for this video! Gained a subscriber!

Thanks for watching - you can add a hard drive to the cloud key if you don't have one already - you should be able to simply install unifi protect and add some cameras using PoE or a wirelss unifi camera (I prefer the wired if you can). Start with one and add as needed. I ran all of mine off a cloud key for a while before I upgraded to the dream machine!

Thanks for the video. I am looking to replace my crappy Hikvision cameras that continuously stop broadcasting with new cameras. I am pretty much sold on unification and your video pretty much convinced me. My question is can I set up this system using my existing eero 6+. And what other equipment would i need, (Dream machine) besides the cameras. The existing Hikvision use cat 5e. I would like to get a doorbell as well. Thanks for any response. I have a camera in my garage - but for the garage door opener itself is another video - forget MyQ - they have stopped supporting anything but there own app, search for ratgdo - its a small device that will control and report on everything you garage can do - even how many times its been opened and closed in its lifetime! - Thanks for watching!

How long does the wireless record? Record motion only? I have solar motion cameras that only records via motion for 6-10 seconds but they all have sd cards in them also. Was thinking of going wired with a nvr so it will record all the time

You would get over a year with motion only easily - I have 7 cameras (1-4K, 2-2K, 5-HD) recording all the time and I have 179d 17h 53m worth of recording on a 10TB drive. I don't know of a solar option for unifi, but there is wireless (still requires power) but for me running an ethernet cable for power/data was simple - let me know if you have other questions - and thanks for watching!

Can you share what the temperature ratings for cameras in this system you know of? Live in a climate that is cold. it often stay below -10⁰F and occasionally -40 for about a month in the winter. many battery powered cameras cannot take that cold and shut down, perhaps wired too, I don't have any.

I believe they are rated for -20 based on spec, but I know I have seen at least -25 and never had an issue - I have the G5 pro and a couple flex outside and they have been great - hope that helps - and thanks for watching!

I've had Unifi for a long time - Unfortunately it's the night vision that lets these cameras down.

Depending on the situation, I turn off the IR night vision especially on the smaller Flex cameras - the G5 Bullet Pro does a nice job I find - and compared to some I have used in the past, I find that at least the Unifi have some good adjustment controls that seem to actually make a change in real time - would be great if there was a way to have a day/night profile with custom settings! - thanks for watching, and for the feedback!

I agree they are hard to find sometimes - I typically start direct from them ui.com, but if they are out of stock I go to Amazon amzn.to/45f7ghM which delivers fast, albeit with a slight markup. really? I actually find it to be more affordable than most systems - you can't compare a standalone camera with cloud service - you need to compare it to systems that have a NVR. You can also consider that the NVR is also your network controller and WIFI. Additional cameras start at under $100 and you don't have any subscription fees? The Dream Router is garbage. It can't handle a 1 gig internet connection.

That's an interesting point, not sure if I would call it garbage just on that, you need a Dream Machine pro max, or SE just to get 2.5G RJ45. But considering many home users are getting internet connections greater than 1GIG now a days it starts to be something to think about. - thanks for sharing and for watching!

@@yoyoTechKnows I went through it when I setup with Unifi. I went with a used Dream Machine instead. It gets the job done and can handle a gig down no problem.
