The story of Oath in Felghana is my favorite in the Ys series. It gets me the most emotional as it moves towards the conclusion. I played the PSP version the same way as you did just a couple of years ago. I couldn't put it down once I started. Thank you for a great unboxing video!

I've just started getting into Ys this last month. I beat 1, 2, and Origins over Christmas, and I've started Memories of Celceta. I'll likely be playing this game next. I think it's one of your older Ys videos that got me into the series, and I decided to follow the "story path" for the order I'm playing the games in (rather than the order they were released). I'm enjoying the series so far, and you're very right that it's nice to have a JRPG where the games are of a more digestible length.

I actually have this game on my vita as well but have yet to play any ys games! I really should give it a try. You make the limited edition look really nice, I like marvelous's cardboard boxes. You mentioned being able to see your play time, level, and the date on the save data and I love that! I actually started keeping a journal of the games I finish with that info since it can be hard to find it once youre done! I also love to have multiple games and books going on at once, I feel like I actually get more done when I can pick and choose instead of trying to do the same thing every day

How's that possible, Forest? 😄 Yea, it arrived super quick, well before the ETA. Amazon used DHL and it took just a few days., About the clip-on wearable mics: yes, I actually have one. I always had probs with it (guess I bought a cheaper one!), got fed up and just went back to the setup I'm used to. I finally, after all these years, managed to set up the mic on a stand so that I can 'hide' it from the camera. Why are you asking? Is there something wrong with the audio? I am ofc hearing-impaired (half deaf now), so it's rather hard for me to work out whether audio is all right. Appreciate feedback.

@Food4Dogs no theres nothing wrong with the audio at all. I just remembered when we talked last year on Twitter we had talked about it back then. I was just catching back up from that conversation to see if you ever did or not. Yeah it's crazy how delayed the game is for me. It should be here sometime today. I got the PS5 version which interestingly enough it also comes with the microfiber cloth too.

I got my copy a couple of days ago. I’m going to start it as soon as I finish the new Zelda game I got for Christmas. This’ll be my first time with the remake version. I’ve only ever played the Super Nintendo version of Ys III before.

I loved the original played through it on pc few years ago, i got my Ps5 version comming today, great to find another Ys fan i loved the series since the first game, i agree the Ys games was about the Game play action and the music with a good story as a cherry on top.

@@Food4Dogs Right played it for just over 2 hours and done the first boss. looks wise its 60fps with no drops would have been nice to a 120 fps mode buy sadly none, but if you walk into a sides of stairs you get a little screen judder, its not frame drops or performance its just the way the game scrolls hit a wall moving verticaly. Graphics wise it looks just like the pc version just in higher resolution so you still get slightly blurry chatacters so it basicly just the original game upscalled . The new voices some of them are pretty bad and cheesy but most of them are well done, also there a new narator you can turn on in the options i like that. the music is fantasic and like the original you get the PC88 and Sharp X68000 sound tracks and the new modern music. so all in all it's what i was expecting just the original with some extra's, one other thing the game difficulty as been reduced its easier that the pc port nothing has come close to killing be so far.

i started Ys on 3 on SNES, i found out in a game magazine it was getting a remake and i bought the special edition when it came out, and that got me to buy the whole series, i buy the special editions for every release because i want the soundtracks. Oath in Felghana soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks in any game, love the hard rock sound. when i saw there were new tracks on this edition it was a must buy for me lol. im already playing this edition and im loving it. its a good thing they added no fall mode as the higher frame rate seems to cause some missed inputs and trying to jump gaps wasnt working so well. the japanese voice over is really good though i turned off the narator that reads the text for adols parts, as it sounded more like someone was reading a book to me or narating a sitcom, its fine but feels a little out of place

I've been waiting for a new video of yours to release so it would be more likely for you to read this, I'm positive you may not remember this, but way in the past I mentioned that my Vita's screen was broken, I FINALLY FIXED IT, RIGHT ON CHRISTMAS (actually New Years); 4 years inactive, unfortunately not only the screen but also the battery that I had to fix, but what matters is that I finally closed this wound that I've been carrying, it was something so important for me, I've always carried this grudge and now it's finally over, I just really wanted to share this here, I'll see the video in a bit, love you as always

I think I actually do remember your original report (I've had several people tell me over the years how heart-broken they were over their broken Vita screens ... and bc of that heartfelt factor I remember them). It's no easy task these days, fixing a Vita! 👍 Also very appropriate you mention it under this video, since I show one of my original Vitas with the PSP Ys game on it. 😊

Thanks for another great video! I feel the same way about Ys; normally I bounce between a few different games at one time, but those RPGs have a way of magnetizing my attention. And I love the Napishtim/Origin/Felghana engine ones perhaps most of all. Is it too much for a gal to ask that we one day get a remake of Ys 5 in that same style? 😄 On a related note, have you seen the news about Ys X: Proud Nordics? I must admit that if it's another full-priced game and we can't get it as a DLC or something (prospects on that aren't looking good), I'll be fairly peeved. That game just came out in western regions, with the original Japanese launch not that long ago either. But I'll just stick with the regular Ys X for the time being. Overall, I do still love the games Falcom makes.

This looks kind of like the treatment that the Crossbell games got on Switch (higher res, a high-speed mode), combined with the kind of artwork overhaul that the Trails in the Sky got in the Vita ‘Evolution’ versions (how I played, simply excellent)

im glad to see some appreciation for the vita! its a great system! and oath in felghana is a great game too! I agree there is just something special about ys as a series thats hard to put into words. and also yeah its nice that the older ys games like this one are shorter, i miss that cause i do feel like some of the later Ys games are a bit toooo long, not every rpg needs to be 80 hours long, its nice to have shorter 20 or less hour rpgs, I enjoyed ys 8 a lot but the pacing in the first half was really not the greatest.

Aw now I'm a bit sad about my copy of the game. I bought the German standard edition and found the Switch case empty aside from the game card. No Adventure Guide! Which really surprised me because Falcom usually includes these little booklets. A shame they decided to save themselves a few cents and not include it in the European release.

I dont think you see a microfiber cloth pack in for special edition games often do you? -- but thats a great pack in, I love it! Its cheap small and light -- and if you have glasses, TV screen, VR headsets, its very very practical. And you can put art on it. id rather have that or a small towel than art cards or even an art book (which is heavy and you look at it once and it goes on the shelf).

The cloth (and also the soundtrack) was the highlight for me! You don't see them that often any more as part of LEs. But I remember back in the heyday of the Vita, they were a popular item in Japanese special editions.

I bought it on PS5 and Switch. Used my Best Buy rewards to pay most of it. So $15 for both. Such a great game though I really prefer the narrator voice since Adol only says a couple words and I prefer the silent protagonist in the RPG games. Most likely this is all I am getting til spring or later. Backlog is still like 2 generations behind lol 😅. I’ve been buying a lot of dirt cheap physical retro style RPG’s On PS4. So I’m going to play catch-up on all of my games the other games I really want I can wait till they are discounted.

I played this game last year on steam before they announced the Remaster. I just canceled my preorder this monday, because Saturn did not deliver for an entire week. I looked at Mediamarkt yesterday and they also did not have it. I might have to order online if I can not find the game in the mall on saturday. I sadly could not order the Refined Edition, because Xseed does not deliver to Germany. Or the rest of Europe. Felghana is a great game though. And I played on very easy and even had to grind myself invincible before the first Boss due to not being able to read the pattern. And then before the Final Boss I was grinding Money to max out Adols HP with these elixirs from the shop. It made the Final Boss sort of a joke, but for me more doable, because I am incapable of dodging and reading patterns. Though I did beat Death in Order of Ecclesia without getting hit in one playthrough. I found this instant death ring and saw the Boss room and had a really dumb idea. Thankfully it was a doable idea. I am also currently playing Rhapsody 2 Ballad of the little Princess. I just finished chapter 3 yesterday and it was really good. I am really intrigued in this games world, story and lore. The game is just so good. Can not wait to play Ys 3 again on my Switch. But first up is Graces this sunday. I hope I can finish Rhapsody 2 on Friday. And if I can not find Ys 3 in the store, I can just buy some new joycons. I want to get the pink ones. I think they're cute. Anyway, I hope you enjoy daybreak 2 next month when it comes out. I think you might like MOBAPAD M6 HD Joycons . My hands breathed a breath of fresh air the minute I held um. I can play in handheld again . The buttons push so easy , hall effect sticks no drift ! They are the best controller's ive ever used on any device.

I actually regret not buying certain PS5 games physically while they were stocked here in NZ. My decision to get a PS5 finally was so long drawn out, I kinda missed that boat. So I think that's a perfectly sensible thing to do, esp. for any editions that may sell out in the near future.

Have you played Ys X: Nordics? It's pretty cool with naval combat now. My first Ys game was origins. Ironically, no Adol and Dogi in that one.

I hear ya. The old Ys games are not to be sneezed at! I have a condition called Dupuytren's which makes it even tougher playing fast games that crazily combine jumping and fighting! 😄 Some bosses I had to retry so many times ... But it's a tribute to Ys that I never contemplated giving up.

my advice is to go farm a level or 2, the stats ramp up in a way that 1 or 2 levels is significant. the trash enemies become trivial before you would have to fight the boss, so its slow but it does make the bosses easier. the first boss killed me super easy, 1 level later i won because my defense had gone up enough to let me live long enough
