1:27 is such an important point. Just because something wouldn't see play doesn't mean it should exist. Yata garasu is the perfect example. No one would play yata if it got unbanned, but would anyone have more fun? Would Yugioh be a better game? Absolutely not. The only thing it would do is some new players at locals would get yata locked and never want to play again lol. Some cards just have to stay banned, whether they would make a competitive impact or not. Also I think a good errata for Night Assailant (and tbh probably what Konami meant to write in the first place) would be "except Night Assailant" so that you really just can't loop it at all. I think the "except this card" and the fact it was written before PSCT is fairly good evidence that this is probably how Konami intended for the card to work anyway. Idk maybe I'm wrong.

Chain Strike was limited when they changed the Time Rules for the end of match procedure and stuff. Also, I love your content and I really didn't remember some of those cards were actually limited.

I can see why that would be a problem with the way going into Time works now. It would probably let you tie or even steal way too easily if you could use it with any consistency while your opponent tries to get one last combo in. I've seen Gagaga Cowboy used to similar effect, but Gagaga Cowboy is (usually) easier to counter, can only be used on its controller's turn, and deals a fixed amount of damage.

Due to the joint banlist, Gustkraken was actually limited before Constellar M7 came out in the tcg, which was the main combo piece to make the Gishki Hieratic handloop work. So tcg never even got to play the deck hence it was never that popular here. Mind Augus was used in a FTK where you would recycle symmetric draw cards to deckout your opponent first turn.

It’s really just a step between for cards. It’s a cautious step to see if players will be able to make use of those cards in an overly effective way. Malicious is really the only card that can bounce back and forth reasonably, as it essentially is limiting an extender of hero players every time it jumps from unlimited to semi

going first. it does nothing since the opp hasnt put any cards on the field so they dont lose anything. and if they have a handtrap(anything besides ogre/DD crow/nibiru) they can stop the fiber and if they dont have a handtrap the fiber jar's reset could give them a handtrap in their new hand to stop ur combo after fiber jar has done its job. and this is assuming u also drew a spell that can flip the fiber jar turn 1

going 2nd fiber jar does nothing since the opp either has 9000 negates(adamancipators/pendulum) or they handlooped u(mermails/Gishki) or they FTK'd u(Gem knights/SixSam/CyberStein/GaleDogra)

or their playing a trap deck and set 5 traps which means fiber jar is not going to resolve. if your playing fiber jar without a spell to turbo its flip effect, its too slow for the game of yugioh in 2020. every(most of them) deck has a way to pop/remove monsters especially if those monsters dont have destruction protection(winda/colossus/stardust/etc)

Mind Augus was played in an deckout ftk with 3 copies of One Day of Peace and it was starting to top tournaments so it got hit. Gustkraken was preemptively hit because Heiratic Gishki Handloop was a meta deck in the OCG, so it never even got a tournament before it got hit in the TCG.

Some trickstar decks could get very high chains fairly easily, like upwards of 10-20. While the build wasn't the best, because dark room of nightmare is jank, I suspect chain strike was limited "just in case".

Mind Augus was also banned because there was a deck out FTK loop that recycled 1 copy of dark world dealings in a slow but infinite loop that would eventually deck out your opponent. It took like 20 minutes to do the full combo of looping the one dealings and was generally completely unfun to play against.

Night Assailant was a very old BKSS rulings as the original text never said you couldn’t add itself bad, so Konami just ruled you can’t do it because that would obviously been dumb. It was kinda funny.

not only is it limited, konami also indirectly nerfed infernity with the limit on danger jackolope and tsuchinoko(hits the BA cherubini lvl 3 spam version of infernity) and the semi limit of malicious(nerfs the isolde turbo version of infernity) and the banning of destrudo(completely kills the possibility to make power tool dragon/loop armageddon knight with the DDR that u search off of power tool dragon)

If the invoked engine gets hit, you can substitute cyber stein and some other cards for decks that played them before. Instead of normal summoning aleister, you normal summoned cyber stein and made either a big beater or a floodgate

the only way I see the Infinite loop working is in a Subterror or other Flip monster focused deck, but unless you’re retreiving some important pieces, I don’t think it’ll be ideal to use it, even if it does have a infinite loop that you can just add all your Field broken Gurus and other various stuff back into your hand as long as you can send Night Assilant to the GY.

In all honesty, they should move Cyber Jar to semi-limited. Cyber Jar is not going to be used in most decks except maybe older strategies that would need that kind of disruption to break an opponents board. I don't see sky strikers, eldlich variants or any of the other major strategies using the card themselves unless they want to risk destroying their own boards. Finally, its effect is really no different than torrential tribute. The only difference is adding bodies to the board which in itself is a gamble.

DISCLAIMER: I actually do use Morphing Jar in a deck that I've tested. There definitely is utility in the card, but not central to modern gameplay so as to justify keeping more than one in a deck. To me, that makes Morphing Jar's "Limited" status perhaps frivolous, but of no consequence. What is Morphing Jar's utility/How do I use it within the deck I mentioned? *-To reset card advantage from the hand.* This is especially important if an opponent activates a hand trap negate on Turn 1, where I may already lost 1+ card. So a Turn 1 set can be a valuable play. But the decision should be balanced against other factors. (Do I have any other plays remaining in my hand?) (Do I have adequate defenses for Morphing Jar in the form of set Spells/Traps or Hand Traps?) (Do I know the opponent well enough to determine the probability of a Turn 2 OTK is sufficiently low?) *-Discard fodder for Shooting Riser Dragon or other cards that send from Deck to GY.* But this use for Morphing Jar by determining whether the benefit from that effect is sufficiently consistent and beneficial. For the deck in question, Morphing Jar is the only Level-2 and one of my ED bosses is easily accessible with SRD at Level-5. But not every deck has the same utility. *-To set up an OTK.* Morphing Jar's effect on card advantage can allow you to set up an OTK for the next turn if you are confident your strategies can overcome what you are seeing from your opponent. Giving your opponent a new hand after the Battle Phase sets up their defenses, but it also gives you a new Draw 5+1 and the Battle Phase next turn. In addition to the above balancing factors, also consider: (Based on my initial draws, what are the probabilities of drawing the other pieces needed to KO the next turn?)

Remember when Norden was a legal card for some reason? Why was it not a once-per-turn? Why in the world was its effect triggered on all types of Special Summon and not just Fusion Summon? He's absurdly good even if you slapped those two restrictions on, let alone without them. Alternatively, why does Instant Fusion work? I can see him being crazy powerful if he was actually hard to summon, but there was just a card that pulled him out with no materials required.

Hey Dzeeff, I'm a relatively new player. I've watched my friends play and watched your videos for a couple years now and just started playing (mostly Duel Links) recently. Though I've warmed up to Synchro and XYZ summoning chains after coming to understand how they work, Pendulum and Link summoning still seems incredibly degenerate to me. I'm trying to keep an open kind though so I was wondering if you'd talk about why these mechanics are improvements rather than detrimental to the game.

Because you aren’t seeing them as mechanics, but rather the effects that are given to the monsters. Needlefiber is a link monster, firewall is a link monster, summon sorc is a link monster, but that doesn’t mean link summoning is degenerate. It just means that those monsters have degenerate effects. Both pendulums and links actually are the most restricted methods of summoning right now. Links are generic, but you basically need to play multiple if you want more than one link. Pendulums need links to summon from extra deck, otherwise they just summon a bunch from hand, but they are so restrictive and you don’t have generic pendulums that can be thrown into every deck for pendulum summoning

It was a easy normal which you could then pop with metalfoes to get off field or you could pen summon it for free advantage. People started to play veiler as an countermeasure for it though it was useless most of the time because majespecters. The very next list it was put back to one as if it was see an bad idea.

From what I remember of the chain strike banlist, I think people figured the hit was because that was when Konami first announced the new time rules and they were scared of chain burn doing well under the rules. I don't know if that's the actual reasoning and I doubt chain burn was gonna do anything regardless but that's just what I remember the discussion being at the time

So? Your opponent is basically forced into a situation. If they can stop cyber stein, great! Your whole play falls apart and you might lose right there. If they can’t, you get a free fusion. That could be floodgates or beaters, sometimes neither. You don’t need multiple cyber stein summons to make it good. If you need that, your deck should be centered around cyber stein like a danger dark world ftk
