@nebulamollyblossom they're cool as a supplement for an alternative format but seeing as tcg side it's confined to duel links and even then a few years behind the actual rush duel card pool it's hard to care about. Especially for a more causal player. A huge draw of the anime was the I get to actually play with the cards I see in the show. It was cool. It was fun. It was a cool way to show off decks and it why alot of decks Especially from the pre arc-v have some long time fans because the attachment to the anime.

The closest thing we have at a new yugioh master duel anime is Ocg Structures. A manga with the original artstyle that not only has the light hearted vibe in it, but also the players play actually good decks and they don't just stick with one. OCG structures does a lot of what I would want from a Yu-Gi-Oh anime. Games are about more complex board states and using strategies that one would use IRL, as well as shining a light on archetypes never featured in any anime. I don't think it would work very well as a teaching tool for new comers though because the manga just sort of assumes general familiarity with the rules of the game and often doesn't show how board states are set-up to cut down on bloat for experienced fans.

You have to wonder how much Kazuki Takahashi's death affected the release schedule for the anime, as he spitballed and helped create a lot of ideas for them. I think that's sort of why Sevens is way longer than expected for a lot of people, I feel the team kind of doesn't really know what to do so they're spinning wheels for a few years to keep something going on. Especially since kids media moves way faster than something aimed for teenagers and above. 3 years is enough to move mountains if you're not there every week.

I had dropped the anime and thus by extension the game upon Zexal given that's when the character design became abysmal and with Yuma as the main character as the face till the next show just wasn't doing any favors. Come back years later to see what the anime is doing and I see Arc V pulling out throwback characters from older shows, but as alternate versions and I just think by and a large the selections were with the exception if like Jack were given a disservice such as Alexis contributing to nothing and as an Aster fan oh boy not liking that W/L ratio compared to the original in being one of the few to defeat the main character Jaden and deliver Zane's first loss without cheating. Then I check out Vrains as the plot seems interesting and I liked the story direction, unfortunately I think the overall cast for character development got shafted as for example Blue Angel just joins the rest of the female duelists in not being fully utilized and it hurts that she never got her revenge duel against Specter. It's sad that the show got rushed.

I miss fantasy horror Yugioh too. I hate how modern Yugioh anime doesn’t have any magic elements; magic is a core part Takahashi’s version of his setting. However I don’t want a Duel Monsters reboot, but a 5D’s reboot. From what I’ve seen and heard, Duel Monsters doesn’t need a retelling even if it would be nice. 5D’s, however would be much improved through a do-over. Luna needs a proper deck and an actual character arc. Aki deserves better pacing through her character arc and relevance that lasts the whole show. Leo should have his you-know-what plot twist happen during the Dark Signers arc. And there are several elements from 5D’s season one that need to not be dropped from the story-Carly, the Satellite/New Domino class divide, the Arcadia Movement, the Duel Spirit World, the hints given about Yusei’s father, Yusei’s side character friends, the fantasy elements in general. Don’t have the mass death that occurs throughout the Dark Signers Arc be reversed. (If need be, don’t kill so many characters in the first place; there’s no point in doing that if you’re going to resurrect them all anyway.) Give each Signer a battle against their Dark Signer nemesis (seriously, we had more Dark Signers than Signers, yet Leo and Luna still got crammed into one duel). Allow all the Signers to duel in the final battle of the Dark Signers Arc in a five-on-one match (I know I’m pushing it here). Don’t make three of the main characters more important than the rest. 5D’s is set up as a story about the five Signers. The “Hero/Rival/Best Friend” trio is certainly a good formula to use for a character dynamic, but it isn’t suited to tell the story of 5D’s. Don’t let Crow’s screen time come at the expense of the other main characters. Maybe hold off on his introduction until season two, after Leo/Luna/Aki/Jack/Yusei have had time to establish themselves and can withstand a little less focus from the story. I’d prefer that 5D’s gets a reboot since it actually needs one.

Yes I feel like Yugioh is running into the same problem that fable franchise was going through which is for every sequel it's their trend they keep going into this futuristic future and each leap is dramatic that eventually we get weird plots like now a literal alien from warfaring galaxy learning to play yugioh. I'm not necessarily trying trying to be a hater of this sci fi techy era of yugioh, but the problem with locking themselves into locking themselves into doing massive jumps into the future is that they lock themselves out of going back and doing other stuff within the era of some of the old anime's. Because of that we never have spin offs such as within the duel monsters world that gx or dm introduced or the continuation of playmakers unfinished story or even another protagonist story happening during the same time as one of these older protagonist story. For this same reason it's why we never get any crossover movies anymore as the time leap between each recent story is so far that is impossible unless they add time travel like the times beyond movie (And if they were to do this again how many times can they do it before the time traveling trope gets boring). Even then would would a crossover between Zexal, sevens or vrains work since both have drastically different rule sets? That's another issue too why does every new anime need a new gimmick, they wouldn't need it if there was more emphasis in creating a good plot with the hype being new support for new or existing archetypes that are being featured in the anime duels, that's how they did it before the emphasis on the different extra deck monster gimmicks and it worked. My point is they should stop, look back and create a good story within one of the worlds they already have and make the focus on the writing being so good that people of all sorts want to actually go watch it and eventually be sucked into the tcg.

It may be cope, but I'm hoping that the Chronicles animation they showed off is an indicator of the next anime, run as an anthology series (with stuff like Branded being multi-parters) . This would have would draw in people who have been out of the game for awhile to try it again or give people who have no interest in the card game's direction a way to express their enjoyment of the franchise, while at the same time the push of the cards living in their own worlds would have people endeavoring to make theme decks or giving weaker archetypes another option for life as people speculate on their lore rather than good/bad effects.

There are a few problems with that, sort of similar to the problems that a lot of mobile games have had when trying to get anime adaptation. 1. Playing favorites. The show would need to make concessions on what exactly it shows, and that builds inherent hostility between player bases. For a promo video it is more celebratory but for a televised anime the tone is very much "who will make it in?" After it finishes airing a lot of people may be left saying, "I wanted an episode about [deck/series] but it was given to [episode] instead, what a waste." 2. Theater of the mind is extremely powerful. One of the actual unique strengths of the TCG format for storytelling is how much of it is left to the imagination. If there's an "official" version of a card storyline that clashes with what YOU found fun about the original, it can actually make people who were fans of the series dislike the cards. Suppose there was a Labrynth episode, but the character writing was abysmally bad, with Lady being more annoying than endearing to the extent that it could taint people's opinion on the deck. This is actually why I think some of the longer OCG storylines like World Legacy and Albaz really don't work, because they're detailed enough to show weak points in the plot but also not detailed enough to justify those problems. 3. It can build the brand but it doesn't really sell the game. Unless the characters actually duel, there is no paper product to sell - even if they introduce new characters and give them associated cards, there's no push for the card game. ESPECIALLY if we're talking about how most of the storylines they might try and adapt are out of circulation anyway. The largest monetization stream would be other forms of merchandise like figures or clothing or the dreaded "acrylic stands", but that's more of a risk under the budget than integrating the anime with the card game directly.
@Zithee
@Zithee 2 ай бұрын
@@Zetact_ Counter point to number 2 from the perspective of World Legacy: We already have the entire story spelled out for us in Solo Mode in Master Duel. It really shouldn't be hard to base the script off of that and then fill in the gaps. In fact, a World Legacy anime would be the perfect oppurtunity to patch up any of the holes the original presentation has. And due to essentially being 3 "acts" or timeframes the story takes place in, an episode structure similar to Arcane wouldn't be out of the question. I think for World Legacy in particular it's a relatively straightforward process if they're willing to put in the effort. On the other hand I'm not sure how it would be with Albaz or Visas lore (and especially not Duel Terminal). These problems you mentioned are likely a lot bigger for those.

They should stay with the idea that ritual summoning was originally something secret and tied to ancient power, and make it the most hardcore part of Yugioh, even Yugi got scared the first time he did ritual summoning, so an anime with the origin of ritual summoning tied to the Middle Ages, dark, depressing, you have to sacrifice something to gain something else, just like the practice was used in those times.

As a magic player I hate commander and its warping of every other format. But Modern and Pioneer and Draft and Legacy and Standard and Pulper, etc don't split the player base. That's because all those magic formats are fundamentally the same 1v1 gameplay. Yugioh does have a split in the player base. I like VRAINS, but it had some of the lowest highs and the highest lows in the franchise. It didn't take too many risks, but it didn't seem to drop the ball like other shows (DM with its general age over time, GX with its side characters, 5D's and its sorry excuse for an english dub, zexal with its female lead and greater scope villain, Arc-V with its 3rd season zigzagging between good and bad).

I'm honestly amazed on how much the anime made me interested on archetypes. HERO, Blackwing, Infernity, REDMD and blue eyes, the signer dragons (The original 5), mirror force, effect veiler, gravekeepers (They appeared in GX as archetype as well as DM as characters), archfiends, quickdraw and junk synchron (The latter I would say my favorite card) and even gadgets, but I couldn't care less about stuff like artifacts, X-Sabers, Gladiator beasts or (Insert archetype created this decade), and while I love Lightsworn's playstyle I just don't find it as appealing. Why do you think people is playtesting so much melodious? A big reason is because A) Is the first pendulum archetype in years who is viable and doesn't abuse pendulum summon, and B) Is an archetype weilded by one of the bracalet girls, Yuzu. Roleplay is one of the most important aspects of this game (And I'll be honest, it's kinda the only good thing it does well), letting your inner chunni emerge like if you were in an anime, but it's difficult to embrace that when current archetypes don't have that bond.

Honestly watching Vrains for the first time was such a magical experience for me. It's seriously the only yugioh series that actually captures what makes the modern game so fun. Most characters had significantly more well-constructed decks that valued consistency and executed involved combos. You could actually feel the skill of a duelist through how they played rather than how many times they can pull off a top deck.

You can make it work by having 2 protags (1 Rush player and 1 TCG player). You can also have each deck take advantage of the differences between the 2 formats, for example make the TCG deck a deck that spams small monsters and uses the 5 zones while the Rush deck can be discard heavy since you draw to 5 every turn.

Vrains the best? I feel like I don't want to wait 3 episodes for a duel to conclude knowing the Yusaku would win anyway. It also has a lot of production issues and scrapped plot points. Despite having more episodes than Sevens, it has less amount of duels. I remember watching it weekly that there used to be a recap episode every 3-4 duels, until the second half that it has only 2? recap episodes that were better written (actually using new footage to retell the story) than the earlier season recap episodes. It was a pain waiting for a new episode only for to be a recap episode Maybe the reason some call it the "best" is the cast. They're not children, and just use dueling as a means to their objectives. step 1: make a hard core, mature anime. make the whole series first and then release it; not try to rush one or two episodes per week. make a tester set if you must, but do not release the show until a full season or two is complete. plot needs to be deep, compelling and exciting. Maybe something like, Dueling was a chill past time but duel disks and holograms were not a thing, then a mysterious person "infects" hordes of duelists with darkness/ the ability to have "real" duels. step 2: Make a monster type season where 15 - 20 types are allowed and get support for say 13 months, and then start from fresh with a new roster of monster types {mix of new/who was left out, and some returning}. And keep the power levels balanced. example - Season of Re-Discovery: Psychic, Fiend, Spellcaster, Dinosaur, Thunder, Rock, Fish, Sea serpent, Winged Beast, Warrior, Galaxy, Zombie, Pyro, Plant, Insect. step 3: Keep ALL the attributes even. We should not have 400 Dark, 398 Light, 410 Earth, 300 Water, 304 Wind and 135 Fire. step 4: Make new types, Like Phantasm/Specter that would be associated heavily with Wind, and yank the more ice themed monsters from out of "Aqua" and give them the new type of Freezeroid. step 5: Make new characters with interesting designs and personalities. And make sure the voice acting is top notch. Like with DM, GX, 5D's and V. Likewise, make the main characters competent. step 6: Have a limited number of extra deck summoning mechanics: Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Link/Pendulum. And increase the extra deck size to 20. step 7: The anime must be available on the most popular and wide reaching channels at respectable viewing times. Cartoon Network, WBTV, ABC CBC Toronto, CW11 or whatever as everyone has different channel service providers; At say week day between 4 and 7 PM, and weekend could be 9 and 12PM or 3 to 6PM. Maybe also put good shows that people might also be interested in around those times so people could see it advertised. {DBZ, Pokemon, Gundam, Digimon, Power Rangers ????} step 8: Have a movie in the works step 9: Have a competent female duelist similar to Alexis and Akiza that actually does something and contributes and has some good wins under her belt. roll a dice, she's either the MC's girlfriend, good friend, or sister. step 10: make a dick rival, and make sure he gets what he deserves. redemption arc is a toss up. There will still be friends/ chill rivals present. Also, if there are any bullies, make them suffer - none of this "they're my friends and classmates still so I have to help them" rubbish; that could slide with Yugi and Yuma but not on the new edgelord dueling server. step 11: Release a DS/Switch/ whatever handheld is around game, halfway through the series, and give it its own reasonably altered plot from the anime. Good character customization. Similar functionality but smoother and faster than the DS games. And promo it with a type specific booster pack or a type specific structure deck attached. step 12: Pick a monster related story line {eg: World Legacy} and make an anime that is more mature than the main series and show later at night

Honestly people are already commenting how vrains wasn’t as loved as you said, but I wanted to add in that I feel like the quality of the anime and how it was released outside of Japan is ALSO why we don’t have a new anime. Zexal wasn’t as praised as DM, GX, and 5Ds + 4kids going under during its run meant that the yugioh anime didn’t have a stable block to market to kids anymore. (for better or worse considering 4kids’ rep) Arc V has been universally panned for its bad writing and weird plots, and it was barely featured statewide as much as the other series (I think it was on nicktoons???) and Vrains came and went w only little fanfare. Didn’t help that master duel 4 was pretty controversial for the meta. Maybe Konami saw the lack of success the past 4 series had + its rocky status among fans and thought it wasn’t worth investing in it anymore. It’s a shame since because of the anime i’m the yugioh fan I am today.

It follows a young kid playing the game in real life and has actual decklist, uses cards like Ash Blossom, and explains effects on an easy to understand basis. It also do a great job of rotating in and out the decks used. For example, it had Tenyi vs Thunder Dragons then went over the 2020 rule changes, P.U.N.K, Mikanko, and even had the MC summon Barrone De fleur at one point. Bridge is frankly doing an amazing job with Rush anime and they probably have a plan for Yu-Gi-Oh 9 already in the works but I do think that Konami could be thinking about a method of getting conversions from Rush to Core. Honestly some may say it would be a dumb move but having two separate studios making Yu-Gi-Oh 9 and 10 with one being Rush, the other being mainline and airing them concurrently COULD be a practical option. I'm sort of less thinking about it from the standpoint of regular anime and more about something like Toei's Super Hero Time block, where there is a general expectation that viewers of Super Sentai and Kamen Rider will overlap although they don't need to, and they usually have slightly different target age demographic. The game went way too absurdly complicated in Pendulum and Vrains where you could have entire episodes where all the duel action was just one turn of Yusaku doing a combo then "to be continued". I think that Konami is sorta trying to rein this in, with a lot of their newer cards and archetypes being more compact in their combo lines so they could in theory be used in an anime. Maybe it's also because Bridge is way better at pacing the combos affecting my mental image but I think you could get through full combo of a deck like Swordsoul in about a minute of screentime and zero confusion about what's happening. One problem unique to anime archetypes is the need to have more and more cards put into the archetype so the character is always using something new. It leads to extremely bloated archetypes like E-HERO, D/D/D, and the notorious Blackwings. Of course, using a "characters change their decks" framework can alleviate this. This is just a personal opinion not really based on market research but I get the impression that the tone that Yugioh has historically had for the [Gallop] anime is not as strong in the current market. It's usually been presented as kinda like a battle shonen but in the market I think that card game anime are finding more success being "urban fantasy", "slice of life" or "sports series" in their vibes. If Konami wanted to revive the mainline game in the anime, I think that going at it from an entirely new perspective rather than just "here's something exactly like the first six series, but again," would be a main thing to prioritize. Basically put more focus on the characters. Putting aside that DM and GX also had world-ending stakes I think a main reason they're remembered fondly is for the characters. Incidentally I think that there COULD theoretically be room for ONE extra mechanic in the game, but that's not a major point of discussion on the video and a new anime on the card game could probably do fine just using existing cards.

Bushiroad is pulling some weird stuff with Vanguard though. They powercrept too hard, tried to reboot, lost a lot of people cuz of the reboot...powercrept the reboot WAY TOO FAST, then rebooted AGAIN...and now it feels like the game is on life support. It doesn't help that the company is having issues getting product to specific locations and prices are fairly insane for some decks. Due to the inconsistencies, some shops just gave up on the game altogether. I still love it, but I'm also learning Digimon rn because Bushiroad feels like they're really only interested in coddling the Weiss and Shadowverse players.

I think what Yigioh should start doing is trying to help out people who want mix up their monster choices. Have 2 card opposite monsters combine forces. Have one archetype steal monsters to strengthen their forces. And also maybe give support to more vanilla monsters. I've been so curious to see what could be done with Oscilllo Heros. 2 other monsters that I would also like to see supported are the Elephant statues.

What I would want from a new Yugioh anime is one that’s a full on proper adaptation of the manga. Combining everything season 0 and DM covered, removing the filler, and not being censored. You mentioned it briefly at the end, but I personally think that a show based around people playing the best decks of the last few years would be so sick. Imagine an 8 episode slugfest between a protagonist playing full power ishizu tear vs. an antagonist armed with full power snake-eyes. Or getting to see a group of four friends who play the four decks from TOSS format (I know Salad is from VRains). But a full duel terminal anime, or an albaz lore anime would also absolutely slap.

Wish they would push and maybe localise the Card Storylines manga. They just wrapped up the manga that went into the Sky Striker storyline and, I believe, have already gotten started or at least announced another. EDIT: Double checked, the next story to be told is the Magistus storyline, which if will likely expand and finish out the Magistus archetype's support line, while providing all kinds of lore and info to various spellcaster archetypes.

I will watch the video as soon as I send this of course but I scrolled through the comments and just as I expected everyone is just saying "ah yes there should be a yugioh anime" as if we didn't have a currently ongoing yugioh anime right now. Sure it may be for a different format, but it's still very good. Better than over half of the previous seasons in fact. But I guess if there is one thing this fanbase never disappoints in it's being completely and firmly shackled by nostalgia. Same reason everyone keeps making the same 3 YGOTAS references over and over and why DM-era support still sells so much. The year is 2024 people, pendulum monsters did not ruin yugioh, your favorite decks all play those weird xyz and links, there are gay aliens in the yugioh anime, and studio gallop is likely never working on another season after vrains. Man, could you imagine if Konami went the League of Legends route and released an anime based on the Yu-Gi-Oh monsters/lore like they showed in the chronicles animation? It would solve the problem of not enough newer players wanted to play Yu-Gi-Oh and at the same time make Yu-Gi-Oh mainstream and super popular in pop culture if the anime could even be half as good as Arcane and look as visually pleasing as it did in the chronicles animation. Personally, I'd prefer if they made it more mature and catered towards adults because the previous Yu-Gi-Oh shows were already catered towards a younger audience.

I'm one to think that YuGIOh card lore has unlimited potential to create anime. Even outside of the big stories there's a lot of small archetypes with interesting lore behind them. And not all of them would need to be serious in tone, imagine a humor/gag-focused mini animated series about skull servants and their missadventures, or upstart goblin's greed screwing him over again and again... I cope that the animated chronicles will result in a yugioh lore anime, but I know its just a promo video for their new anime studio and will likely focus on other konami's IPs like Metal Gear

I think having a reboot of the og yugioh would benefit the game especially if Konami made a new format that only focuses on gen 1 era yugioh. They would start out with season 0 to the egypt arc with the same animation team that the dark side of demensions did also include the manga only storyline of Yugioh R but give the characters slightly updated cards for the arc then they can reboot the rest of the franchise following the manga making more money and more attention to yugioh

I think it would be cooler to adapt card lore like visas or even better branded into an anime instead of a standard card game anime. In the OCG yugioh already has new mascots which is why theyre releasing merch of ash blossom or sky strikers. These are the real mascots of yugioh which TCG is simply ignoring. The cosntant nostalgia bait and lack of contact and increase of rarities often feels like they are ignoring or even insulting the "competitive" audience which is most of the players. I dont think im alone when i say i would be way more likely to buy ash blossom or kashtira fenrir merch as cards i recognise over 500000000th dark magician/blue eyes pandering to collectors merch. When you see pokemon stuff you don't just see pikachu, squirtle, charmander and bulbasaur, every new gen you see pikachu and all the new pokemon. Yugioh especially in the TCG just doesn't respect new and more iconic cards and instead keeps cashing in on nostalgia. It would be nice if they showed some kind of attention to cards that matter to us instead of vanillas that havent been summoned in 25 years.

I would really really love something in the middle, and I think that's where Yu-Gi-Oh will hit its stride, when they find the balance between bringing to life the cards themselves, and supporting a traditionally yugioh anime. Like I said in the vid I actually like nostalgia bait, but it has gotten old, and we do need something else new to reinvigorate that pool of creative energy. The only thing I'd disagree with is your idea that the competitive audience is most of the players, I don't believe that's true at all, but again it's about how Konami threads that needle, which like you said, they aren't doing at all right now.

I'd honestly love an anime based on the lore. One of the things I liked about Master Duel was how it gave lore to some of the archetypes that aren't really in the anime. I'd love to see that expanded out even further. Make full on seasons focused on different worlds and stuff that are connected, like all the Albaz-related stuff, or the Visas-related archetypes. It would work as both a hype machine for new additions to the TCG like the original, but would give fans of the already existing archetypes something that makes them feel recognized

Having an anime is good not just because it helps us connect the card games to a greater context, but also because it helps draw in new players from outside of Yugioh's typical demographics. This game says it's for kids, but with how complex the game is that's just not true. You practically need a law degree to understand half the rulings in the game, and it's way out of the scope of most people. That's where the show comes in, showing a lower level of yugioh new players can latch and build from whether it's casual play or outright playground Yugioh. As people get older they tend to move on anyway, so Konami can't expect to keep their cash cow of a game alive if their core audience keeps getting older and they don't refresh it with new interested kids/teens. But you pictured Konami as a baby sucking on a building block for a reason. They probably aren't thinking that far ahead lol

If they ever revisit the original card game format for the anime, I think it should be a reboot or alternate universe anime that resets the card game back to square 1 (You’ve got ritual, you got fusion, that’s it) for most of season 1 then gradually introduce the other summoning mechanics throughout it’s lore. I don’t think they’d do it but I think it may help nostalgia bait some people in and then maybe get them to stick around for the introduction of the mechanics where they jumped off of since they’d have some investment in the characters at that point.

The thing about a new YGO anime. Maybe marketing for stuff like this is way smarter than I am but this is the same fandom that got hype because they saw a random playing Zoodiacs for like 2 secs at the beginning of VRAINS or how Revolver played Mirror Force. Like we don't need to add more complexity. The YGO/Duel Monsters game is so large that the script writers should honestly never be bored and quite frankly it would be the best way to promote the actual game. Imagine you're checking out an episode and someone is playing like Harpies. You remember Harpies. Mai Valentine played them. But then she busts out Cyber Slash. You go nuts because here's this new powerful Harpie card. And lets say its a new viewer seeing for the first time Cyber Slash elevates the deck so not only is it just support for a nostalgic deck but something that looks cool that a a viewer may want to play irl. And then bang Cyber Slash is coming out in the next set. I'm not saying the anime would have that powerful of an effect but it worked enough on me to convert me from just a fan to a casual to an fan and intermediate player of both the anime and game.

So, not exactly on topic and definitely take with a grain of salt, but the little bit you mentioned about MTG and Commander is something I find critically important to any discussion of the ongoing health of a game. Because as someone who *used to* play MTG and Commander in particular (I cannot overstate the weight 'used to' carries in that sentence), I'll claim with the utmost conviction that the worst thing to happen to both Commander and MTG constructed formats is WotC paying attention to Commander. Because it was at its core the kitchen table-iest of kitchen table TCG. It was a format designed specifically around shifting how things are restricted to force players to find new ways to make things work. To find synergies between cards that were never meant to play together or find ways to make their favorite bad cards viable. But the instant that WotC started focusing on the format, all of that went out the window. When they started printing cards specifically designed for Commander, they were almost universally always better than any alternative; of course they were, they were designed for the format. so there was never a reason to not play those cards specifically meant for Commander. They were better than the alternatives and didn't require any jumping through hoops to make them work. So Commander started to lose what made it interesting as it started to fall into the same rut of powercreep the main game suffers from. A problem which then made the main game suffer because cards designed for constructed format were now being designed with Commander in mind and that threw off the entire design principal. On principal, newer cards are just better than the alternatives because they're trying to sell to two markets and need their moneymakers to hit both markets. To tie this back to your point, there's no way to focus on two things at once. Beyond splitting the market, the overall health of both formats will end up suffering since they're still inevitably tied to each other. The problems with one become problems in the other and the differences between the two end up forcing problems to come up no matter how much they try not to pay attention to each other.

Honestly, with all the little stories and plots they add to the archetypes, I think something more in line with a story revolving around the cards than protags might be a fresh new take. I don't know how long that run could be, but it would be lots of fun mini series that don't have any pressure to continue or stagnate since they could tell a proper story, end it in like 12-24 episodes, and have another ready soon. Or even small movies. Pokemon dabbled in this idea back before ending the Ash era and still kind of does it.

The new studio working on Sevens also worked on the Vanguard anime, hence the art style change. In order to make a new series more in line with the DM-VRAINS era, Konami would have to either negotiate with a new studio or have their current one do it. Neither of which I see happening.

Yuugi Ou means Game King. It is a horror series about many different games being played. The only Yugioh anime that needs to happen is a remake anime of the original series that accurately adapts the source manga created by Takahashi. The Series 1 Yugioh anime by Toei intentionally butchered the story and characters of the manga by changing the story and characters all because it was a multimedia project that had the Bandai card game release on the same day as it. It added more card game battles than the manga showed in the 1st 59 chapters it was adapting. It also aired at 6 PM meaning censorship. Scenes were altered and chapters weren't adapted. Yugioh is meant to air at midnight for the older audience. The Second series titled Duel Monsters starts at chapter 60, but its a reboot (NAS/Gallop and Konami card game) so it disconnects itself from the 1st series and has to reintroduce Kaiba, Bakura, and Shadi that Japanese viewers already saw in 1998. It also butchered the source manga. Scenes, especially important story scenes were altered or left out that has anime only watchers asking, for example, why does Yami Yugi stop using the powers of the Puzzle?, and anime watchers misinterpret Yami Yugi attacking Kaiba as him not caring about Kaiba. This series aired at 6:30 and 7:30 PM during its run meaning censorship. It needed to air at midnight like the 1st series for the older audience. If a remake anime happens, Transcend Game can be adapted as a bonus episode after the last episode. It's crazy how Yugioh doesn't have 1 accurate adaptation of its manga. The anime staff just spit in Takahashi's face and changed so much stuff. They think they know Yugioh more than the creator.
