The reason I hate MTG is because it's pay to win. If you are rich you will win, if you are poor you will lose. It's as simple as that. The only way to enjoy MTG is with the use of proxy cards but the entire community looks down on proxies so no one will play with you.

I actually kinda liked how Arc-V and Vrains incorporated older summoning types into the meta. Going for a Pendulum, Synchro, Xyz, Fusion to draw out your busted Ritual monster is kind of amazing. Now, I don't like all the summoning mechanics, but I do *APPRECIATE* they exist for people who want to use them. And I absolutely would love to see nostalgia decks get more support and become more viable. IMO, the best Duel Monsters series were Vrains, 5Ds and DM in no particular order. If we see more stuff from those characters or a return to form and more content in those universes at least I think it'd go a long way to reviving the game. Thanks for your thoughts, and interesting conversation starter! Hope to hear more from you again sometime, so stay safe and be well in the meantime!

If Rush gets brought to the west, it should be considered the same game as Rush in Japan/Korea. Not a TCG/OCG split. The player base would already be too small; no need to divide the world’s players by half like master rule already does.

This issue with a new anime, is they come with a new mechanics. And like you said, we don’t need a new mechanic. The game is already fucking insane with its unlimited special summoning OTK/full control boards turn one.

Love the idea of this set. Have a few questions since I've no idea how to make a yugioh cube; 1. Its mentioned that main deck monters are at 3 of but do all cards come in 3 or is extra deck less? 2. Im assuming that the cube is designed for 4 players, but how many cards should each 'pack' contain? 3. Lastly when building decks should normal 40 card majn deck rules be followed or should the main deck be smaller?
@QuestLogFaker
@QuestLogFaker 20 күн бұрын
@@dyssil249 every card comes at three except for the extra deck where every card comes at five. We would do packs of seven cards for four players, it gives the players more choice and got rid of the situation where players knew what the last player drafting pulled 30 card main deck is actually the official Konami rules for drafting deck building formats. I'm glad you enjoyed 🤙

The ideal new Yugioh anime would be one that has much of the tropes of the old yugioh anime but also have the plot send the main cast through different dimensions that the monsters inhabit--like a capsule monsters-type deal. There also needs to be a malevolent force that transcends these dimensions, like in Arc-V, to create an overarching narrative. This could even spawn a new corruption archetype that're evil versions of legacy monsters like how the Malefic archetype from the Bonds Beyond Time movie was.

I think set rotation wouldn't be the worst thing because of how Konami does and wants to sell reprints. The thing is that you could take advantage of it to have pools per year of playable cards just to avoid "unwanted interactions." That being said, that could also be a secondary format now that they killed speed duel, and run alongside the advanced format.
@linkinboss2
@linkinboss2 Ай бұрын
You know, it might look clunky, but a new mechanic they could introduce is hybrid monsters (like the pendulums that are synchros or fusion). An idea for that would be having ritual monsters that go in the extra deck. Or monsters that are half Xyz and have an effect to get cards attached once they are in the field. I'm sure there are ways to create archetypes that could take advantage of mixing mechanics in a single card

Ive watched go rush to episiode 115, and they are NOT COOKING. Sevens was alright, i could see the 6 previous protagonists coming together, but after go rush, it simply isnt possible. Weve moved from teenagers/18/19 year olds dueling to 14/15 year olds with this dumb trash cartoony duels. We need to take a step back, and go back to the vrains animation, and continue from there. Beause if the next show is anything like go rush, yeagh yu gi oh is just done for.

ARC-V is the anime that bring me back to YU-GI-OH until now. I hope there will be new YU-GI-OH anime that used the master rule. In my opinion, due to the current complexity of the game, new player will find it very difficult to find the fun in it. Where with the availability of the anime, the new player can get a sense of the current game while still having fun. This is happen to me, where I skip GX, 5DS, Zexal but can catch up with the game rule from the anime

The only issue I had even back in the day was that despite hyping you up to play the card game, the show's decks never translated to the actual card game I like many kids soyfaced and pointed at Jaiden's Elemental Heroes but the actual printed Hero cards at the time were terrible cards and the Neo Spacians were even worse.
@keyboardwarrior3499
@keyboardwarrior3499 2 ай бұрын
i think the main problem with the card game is that the more complex it became, the shittier it became. I downloaded one of the yugioh apps to play some children's card game, but what happened was that on the first turn of my opponents, they endlessly "link summon", like they spend 10 mins on one turn, they summon monster after monster, each new monster destroys a card on my field and increases one of their pre-existing monsters attack points, untill finally my field is empy and they have like 3 monsters with 5000 attack points each and defeat me in 1 turn. That's not the yugioh i grew up with, where each player summons 1 monster per turn and then maybe plays a spell or trap card. The card game should have stayed simpler. But yeah, i also agree that yugioh duel monster series is amazing and it did enhance the game.

As someone who grew up with the Yugioh manga and the Duel Monsters anime I just can't get properly invested in anything past GX. It's just too different and disconnected from what I grew up with and loved. I really miss the connection to ancient Egypt and themes of black magic. In comparison the Pokemon anime didn't change nearly as much over the years as Yugioh did. Sure with each new series Ash would meet new friends and explore new regions but it was always still about him striving towards the same goal. The card game isn't what made me fall in love with Yugioh, it was the story and the characters. The original manga and anime are why I love the card game. How am I supposed to care about an anime like Vrains when the only connection it has to the story I loved is that the main characters play cards? Everyone I know who plays Yugioh has had this exact same experience. They all loved the original anime but lost interest in the spinoffs due to the increasing lack of connection to the source material.

I would get back into paper yugioh, but as someone who wants to play salad, a card that you need two of for the deck to even function costs 40$ a copy thanks to it seeing play in Snake Eye. I pray we get a Raging Phoenix Reprint soon. I know it's "Too early" but I wanna play the physical game so badly and that one card is pricing me out of playing the deck even at a suboptimal level!
@QuestLogFaker
@QuestLogFaker 2 ай бұрын
I respect that, but Salamangreat in particular is one of the most budget friendly decks in Yu-Gi-Oh's history right now, nearly every main deck salad card is pennies, and so many of the extra deck staples the deck relies on (Accesscode, Heatsoul, etc) have been price dropped recently due to reprints; even Salamangreat of Fire is like $5 now. Two expensive extra deck cards that are only needed to play "optimally" shouldn't stop you from trying. Salad is dope and worth building.
@JakeTheJay
@JakeTheJay 2 ай бұрын
@QuestLogFaker it's 80$ to get two. That's pretty absurd for my budget. It'd cost as much as a whole new deck and I don't have money to spare for that. If we add the "Of Fire"s in and Promethian Princess, it goes over 100$ just to get a handful of cards

I think that Yu-Gi-Oh is like the only Anime TCG where every single player thinks they're way stronger than the protagonist. First off these are just thin pieces of shiny cardboard that do not amount to no talent or competence. It's a game calm down. But damn is it fun with friends. With how many times we are told about the Heart of the Cards. An Isekai into the Duel Monster Spirit World would really get a lot of ladies into Yu-Gi-Oh if they have a female protagonist. This is the one way Konami could market Waifu bait to the masses. It would be cool to just to see people's reactions.

I'm gonna be honest after Zexal Konami does not know how to properly end an anime and it would be cool to see just an anime does it best to focus on a good story rather make it about a new summoning mecanique because Vrain and Arc v ended in the worst way possible. Not only that but they good concepts ruined by terrible writing decisions mid way and it showed. Also I would love the old artwork back instead of the Bushiroad as that is also what made the yugioh anime unique.

Honestly, I would come back to the franchise if we got physical rush duel like Japan. I think the more aggro playstyle of that game is a good alternative to get new people into the franchise and not confuse them with the mess that is the modern card design.

I'm not a Yugioh player, haven't been for at least a decade now because xyz confused me at the time. However I adored vrains when it came out because it was just a well written show where the card game was the power system. Not long after I went off to Uni I discovered a little show thing called Vanguard, entirely through the animated series that Bushiroad put out, I enjoyed following the adventures of Aichi and his friends enough that I actually opened my wallet and purchased some of the cards. I've even still got some of them because I like the artwork. It was the same thing that happened when I was a sprogling and saw Yugi/Jaden on the tellybox and wanted to experience the same joy that they seemed to get from it. The shows are glorified adverts yes, but they are adverts that work when done well. You yourself talked about how Heroes/Blue eyes/Dark Magician have continued to receive support after all of this time and newer shinier archetypes being released because of the cultural impact that they had and the place they still hold in a communities heart. I know that I latched onto Gaia the fierce knight of all things when I still played. Didn't matter if it didn't fit the deck he was my favourite so in he went. If Konami want that same level of affection beyond merely 'card good so we like' then they need to incorporate it into a series in some fashion. maybe a series of rival duel schools that each focus on one of the special summoning mechanics and our main cast are a group of friends from those schools who just bunk off and enjoy it over the weekends. Every series has followed the standard shonen formula of beginning as a fairly grounded, down to earth thing that very quickly ramps up to absurd levels of threat based around the card game. One that stays in that grounded state and looks at someone determined to win and someone who just wants to build their favourite deck that represents who they are as a person/duelist could be really fun. Seeing someone who focuses so much on 'Engines' and multi archetype combos being frustrated by someone playing an off-meta thing because it has card art that they like and still manage to win games could encourage people out there who aren't inclined to play with decks that cost stupid money. To go back to Vnaguard temporarily, I didn't play Tachikaze or Granblue because they were 'good', I played them for giant robot dinosaurs and zombie pirate crews. I played them for the stories that I'd make up in my head about the rumbling stampede of ever more heavily armed sauropods flanked by chain-gun toting allosaurs as they waged a territorial dispute against a university of hyper intelligent, academic animals (Great Nature). I imagined "Citadel Dragon, Brachiocastle" being held off by a lone, wieght lifting gorilla because they had the same attack power and then wondering how that would work. The various shows bring in the casual fan who, whilst maybe not as profitable per person as the whales who drop hundreds on whole crates of cards looking for just one, actually buy most of their cards from Konami as opposed to ordering them from various third party scalpers for, from what I've seen in other games, upwards of £/$200 for a single piece of carboard and ink, that isn't for "asset investment" purposes alone. Let's also be real here: If a game doesn't get that influx of new players then it won't have the longevity that was discussed. Pokemon/MTG/Yugioh are the big juggernauts but how many others have we seen emerge, wither and die during their lifespans? Pokemon is a subsidiary of the the video games, Magic has other media surrounding realms like Ravnicca and crossover events with Ip's like Fallout, what does Yugioh currently have to make it appealing to a broader appeal base? What does it have to classify it as Multimedia as opposed to 'just' a card game based off of something drawn in a Manga story almost 30 years ago that used to have characters and plots? Don't try and say Gradivus because that was at least the GX era ago. And they could have it. The show Faker mentioned about various internal stories in the card game itself could be a goldmine: So many people have latched onto various cards and some of the art does have genuine personality so bringing it to life couldn't be that hard could it? Animation has done weirder Apologies for the small essay but for some reason this random video that only crossed my feed today has gotten me motivated enough to blurt something out.
