The card designs are the best part about Rush Duel, they look insanely nice and I would love it, if the TCG took on that design for the cards

in my opinion GX and every other anime after that just sucked had nothing to do with the original not even a easter egg of marik, yugi, or any other character nothing maybe the shadow realm and the millenium items but that's it GX ruined period

Wow, I hard disagree on your hot controversial take. First of all, MtG doesn't have an anime, and pokemon anime isn't about the card game, arguably it's much more about the videogames. I recently started playing YuGiOh and the game suffers from a fundamental problem: resources, or rather its lack of them. There's no mana, which is how most TcGs balance their game. How did yugioh balance theirs? Summoning, monsters is the core of yugioh and with a few exceptions like mystic mine is the way every deck wins. The limiting factor? You can only normal summon one monster at a time. But they completely broke this resource by allowing special summons in combination with tutors and more special summons and extra deck summons and... It turns out, losing the dice roll and going second which turns into watching your opponent combo out in turn 1 for 15 mins summoning half their deck is not fun, who would've thought! There's hardly any interaction in yugioh, do you go second cuz of a dice roll? Well you probably lose now. Besides some hand traps the opponent will likely just play like 10-20 cards/effects in their first turn, and than you do the same in yours. In magic you usually only play 1-3 cards in a turn and have some board interaction. Therefor the game is fundamentally flawed, regardless of the anime. Now to combat your incredibly controversial take on multiple formats being a bad thing, here's why you're wrong: I started MtG like 10+ years ago, got into it with friends playing standard (using the last 2 years worth of sets to make a deck and play). If that mode didn't exist, nobody would get into magic because you're having to learn tens of thousands of cards and deck costs will be tens of thousands of bucks, nobody will start playing like that. Furthermore there's draft which allows you to make a deck with just 3 packs as do all the other players, that's what I prefer the most. Positives are you get to make your own deck and you don't need to learn what the cards do per se, or at most will learn the cards from that one set alone. Than there's commander, which is amazing, you make a 100 singleton deck and play vs other players, the beauty of this? When you get into it you will learn about power levels of these decks, for a power level 7-8 deck (which is budget friendly), you can make basically a hundred different decks for 100 bucks or less. And the best thing about it? They will still be your deck 5 years from now, and be at the same power level, they'll still be about just as good as before. What else is great about it? YOU GET TO BUILD YOUR OWN DECK! I know, crazy right, a card game where you can actually build your own deck and it be successful? In Yugioh there's maybe 20 players in the world that are capable of making a successful competitive deck when a new set releases. On top of all that, pauper is a great format, make a deck using only commons, budget: 15-50 bucks for a competitive deck. Imagine Yugioh having a format where you can only use normal cards. I'm almost certain if YuGiOh had multiple formats, and I and most other card game players are completely baffled you have just 1 format, is going to increase the playerbase drastically. The final issue with YuGiOh is its insane power creep. Are you purchasing a 1000 dollar top tier deck? 2 years from now this deck is now worthless and won't be able to beat new decks. Putting the blame of all these MAJOR flaws on an anime is just oblivious beyond belief.

Most of the current player base is only here because they cant get off the nostalgia train. Who knew being marketed to as a kid creates loyal customers lol. Remove the nostalgia factor from Yugioh and the true state of the game begins to come to light.

Even excluding the obvious ones like Duel Terminal and World Legacy, Yugioh is full of intertwined lore of various seemingly untelated monsters. I'd love to see the story of Gagagigo put to comic or anime, it's extremely long and spans a ton of card artwork and is interconnected with the lore of other monsters with an extensive story (charmers, kozaki, impachi, marauding captain, freed the brave wanderer, goblin attack force to name just a few).

I keep watching this movie every so often, it just makes me feel good. RIP Kazuki Takahashi -- after DSOD came out he was posting post-DSOD "canon" material on his Instagram, and it's clear he had ideas in mind for the future of the OG series... Just a shame... Atem returning for just a brief moment takes on more meaning the older I get. Thinking from Yugi's perspective, he has totally 100% given up on ever seeing Atem again, and it makes him incredibly sad but he's also made peace with it. He'll never see Atem again, and that's OK... But... despite saying goodbye forever, Atem returned when he needed him. Just that one more time. Atem didn't *need* to come back, he chose to. It gets to me.

Being a fan of alternative duel formats, what is your opinion of Domain format? I've been looking into it lately, seems very fun with a chance for obscure cards to see play. I've been trying to get my friends at locals to give it a shot, but they don't feel like making a deck for it, unfortunatly.

I don't have a strong opinion honestly; like you said I'm a huge proponent of alternative formats but I'm super wary of Commander after seeing what it did to MGT. I think Highlander deck building makes the game more interesting and less repetitive but I don't really like the idea of deck masters. I'd be open to learning more, I've watched a lot of the videos of a Domain creator on KZbin named Domain Commander so I'd point you more his way if that's your style. I do a lot of Draft, Retro and Duel Links for my alt formats.

@SCH292

For me I say most of the characters need to have more screen time and each season their deck changes. Also we need to introduce archetype some modern support cards, some old cards will be retrained with different effects, proper theme deck and beatdown style early into duelist kingdom. Later each season characters upgrade their deck, play more decks and switch out their decks. Side kick like Tristan will duel once or twice in every season just as "fun casual duel" with Joey and to remind us that he does keep up with the game but competitive just isn't for him.

The number of decks that are murdered by TCG time rules are too damn high. Having played it a bunch, its problem isn't winning games, it's winning 3 games in 45 minutes when PEP is outed by the words "Attention Yugioh Players: You are now in time!" from the judge in games 2-3.
@QuestLogFaker

@@QuestLogFaker It's a difficult handicap because how often it comes up is also dependent on your opponent's deck as well. Snake Eyes or especially Ritual Beast consistently go to time in my experience, but other matchups like Centurion, Floo, or Lab don't necessarily. The most painful irony is that a lot of the decks that lose the hardest to PEP are also decks that "legal timestall" the best too.

While in general, I prefer the old school "wtf is this abomination" style art over that of the endless modern waifu decks, the P.U.N.K. art stands out as particularly dope, and funnily enough their aesthetic works super well with the high octane look of Gold Pride. Between that and the "all-gas" nature of the build/interactions feeling unique to most decks out there, I totally get your attachment to the strat. Looking forward to seeing what people do with the support.

Dark side of dimensions is a fantastic movie that is so close to being a perfect conclusion to the original manga. The characters are exactly where we left them, and the characters new cards fit in well. The pacing of duels also feels just as quick as it does in the manga and tcg. The visuals are stunning, and the soundtrack for both versions is fantastic. The story being based around everyone being ready to move on, except for Kaiba who missed the Ceremonial duel and thus being stuck in the past was genius. I just wish that Yugi was the one to deliver the final blow.

“Comfort movie” is essentially THE best way to describe this thing. It feels like a respectful send-off while being so beautifully nostalgic as to pull you back in. I was downright terrified when I first heard a new YGO movie was coming out. C’mon, let’s face it, it’s WAY more common when they return to an older series that it’s tepid and sad at best, or butchers the legacy of the original at worst. DSOD shocked me with how well they handled this return. Bought it on DVD just so I can enjoy its nostalgic, comforty goodness whenever I want 😁 Thanks for the brilliant video.

Small correction, Eliminator restrics using himself for non Gold Pride summons, not the token. Eradicator sucks but he does have one thing going for him, that being that he is the only quick effect disruption that you can use whenever you want on the opponent's turn. Star Leon pop is main phase only, and Roller Baller fuse is as well. If only he did literally useful anything against Tenpai, maybe this could matter. I made a list for a friend using Garbage Lord as a joke but I have since become convinced that it is a genuinely good tech. Instantly paying a lot of LP and geting a free level 5 is actually very good, and you can pair it with Eliminator to make Baronne easily or just weave it into a PUNK line. He's a fiend, so in multiples you can make D/D/D Marksman King Tell and rank up into Machinex. He even has his own searcher, Garbage Ogre, which boosts consistency and is a level 3 fiend, which can be normalled and paired with Captain Carrie to make D/D/D Stone King Darius as another way to make Machinex in a pinch.
@QuestLogFaker
@QuestLogFaker Ай бұрын
That is a fair correction I misread him. I would argue Eradicator isn't usable whenever you want since his targets are limited to ED monsters and usually you're gonna try and hold out until you can get the most value but that's fair that it does have battle phase utility Leon and Roller don't. That is a fucking wild deck idea lmao, Garbage Lord is a five that pays LP to special yeah? Jeez. Thanks for the watch 🫡

The end of this movie, to me, solidified it as pure manga canon as opposed to having anything to do with the anime canon at all (same as how DBS has anime and manga canon nowadays). I say this not only because of the fact that Kaiba’s motivations make 0 sense for anime watchers (as he was at the ceremonial duel in the anime and was not in the manga), but also because of his presence in Yu-Gi-Oh GX, which presumably couldn’t happen if he went to the afterlife to defeat Atem once and for all, since he’d be dead.
