Correction: I realized I made a mistake when discussing Ahrima; I confused Ahrima’s effect with Stygian Street Patrol, since they both involve “2000.” But Ahrima is still really good because it searches Darkest Diabolos! Apologies for any confusion! ❤️ I’m still learning these new cards myself!

Hey Cimo, what would your thoughts be on the Normal Trap Card Ballista Squad in this deck when it gets released. I think it might be a spicy tech option for interruption as you could tribute an opponents monster to blow up one of their cards, as well as it being a Normal Trap, meaning Lilith can 'search' it.

I have a question, lair of darkness says to put a token on the turn players field. So if i were to use it to tribute an opponents monster for enemy controller on my turn, then take control of another one of their monsters, would i also get a token on my field at the end?

I've watched your budget deck profile and Teamsamurai's budget deck profile and I have to say, I prefer yours. Sam seems to have gone for a deck with bigger setups and payoffs that could fail hard whereas you went for a more safe and consistent deck (you only included one virus and your reasoning for Darklight, for example). I personally prefer consistency, so thank you for this deck profile :)

Man I feel so nostalgic right now. I really love Yu-Gi-Oh! but because of lack of time and money (and a bit of hate on konami back during the time of dragon rulers) I had decided to quit this game. I still do watch and enjoy the various vidoes yugitubers make, but after seeing this deck profile, it really reminded me of the Dark Worlds deck that I used to play (hence leading to me feeling nostalgic). The resurrection effect of Darkest Diabolos is similar to Grapha in so many ways, I've always loved that versatility in being able to bring back monsters from the grave! Seeing this deck also kind of frustrates me because I really want to buy it now after seeing it but I just don't have anyone to play with. Hope new players will enjoy playing the game with this deck, it really looks awesome and actually have to admit that konami did really good with this one :)

For grins and giggles, I would love to see a Lair of Darkness deck that also focuses on using Amorphage Goliath to shut off extra deck summons, and making use of Doom Virus Dragon.

Awesome profile. I’ve been messing around with the deck itself and noticed it’s issues as well. My question though Cimo is why no Caius Mega? It’s a nice banish card (the 1,000 burn is okay), but I find the Caius Mega can help you get over some backrow issues. I know the Darklight will put more work in, just curious is all.

Also three Duke, three Relinkuriboh came in clutch with the budget version, it just enables you more plays and can help you unbrick, Duke is also just an insane card, I got him out on 3500 tonight!

You could play the dark spirit art, it's a +2 if you have lair on the field and can be searched with lilith and even if it gets negated the card paid for itself tributing something else.

I really like your deck profile. Apart from having Legendary Maju Garzett. I feel like Caius The Mega Monarch would be much better than Legendary Maju Garzett, since you can combo his effect with Lair of Darkness. Other pretty solid deck profile. Keep em coming!

MaleficSimos He runs Maju because other than the fact it's a beater it is special summoned by tributing any number of monsters, it can be a better target for the viruses

I assume whatever Mega Caius banishes is going to be dark with Lair, but how do you summon him? Seems slow. I wish Maju "activated" his tribute effect so you can combo it with Lair and kaiju an opponent's monster, that way Trade-In would be more live.

OmegaPyron maju's a good way to get rid of all the torment tokens

Those are hardly a problem with Links, tributing them via Diabolos/Lilith/Ahrima/Crush Card, or defending with them since the deck can brick and as little defense in those scenarios. His gains are negligible, and there are so many easier/less harmful ways to trigger Diabolos, so what makes him good is he is level 8 for Trade-In and his SS ability for Rank 8's, like Prime that can reach 5600, or Cipher that when paired with Full Armor and Blade can pop 2, or Lancelot for quick damage/negate or Rank up into Spiders to nuke 2200 DEF or less/Banish opponent next turn with a resilient 4K Seven Sins. I think Malefic Stardust might be easier to do this with though (plus it's a guaranteed target for DDV, EEV, or FFV), but it might not be necessary since the deck is pretty beastly already and Diabolos is easy to search via Melody or Ahrima so Trade-In is pretty easy to be live.

Plus the darkness deck can be tricky. I suggest trying a $30 challenge with Saga of Blue Eyes and add 2 polys and a blue eyes ult. Powerful fast running deck with very good protection

bit of a odd question, but i'm trying to get shaddoll fusion and winda to complete my shaddoll archetype, and each aren't cheap in the slightest. should i try to buy them as singles given they're expensive nature thanks to the meta, or buy a duelist alliance booster box for 20 + shipping ?

I've been playtesting various builds for this all night and I have to say it's probably the worst out of the box structure deck in a while, however I can't wait to start adding cards into this deck because I firmly believe it has a much high ceiling than a lot of the other structure decks. I certainly think it will be much better than Counter Fairies. Diabolos has also become very close to my heart after only a few duels, he is honestly my favourite Dragon card now.

Good choices when it comes to card consistency but I feel like Mind Crush is underutilized especially if you're first to go or if your opponent plays the card they searched for right away. With a deck abundant in virus cards that allows you to look at your opponents hand, another strategy that could have been to not only take out their monsters, but also whatever cards they are bound to have 3 copies of that would be key to their strategy. While forgoing card advantage, it can cause major disruption at your opponent while the virus traps conditions reward you based on your fiends' abilities. Love the monster selection overall, but the lack of virus cards misses the entire point of fully utilizing the strategy of the tribute system. I would consider side decking all the viruses and switch with the draw/recovery spells if you feel the need to switch to getting a bit more aggressive.

lolicide i was thinking something similar... the viruses can work really well with mind crush as they allow you to see your opponents hand and what they draw or potentially what is in their deck that they could be running multiple copies of.

Hopefully get ahrima in hand, normal summon other monsters. Play ahrima and use its effect to tribute another card for darkest diabolos. Do this 2 times while defending, tribute your opponents cards and otk.

Honestly not sure how I feel about this deck profile. I love the idea of boosting this deck's consistency, but to that end, I'm not sure how I feel about how many 2-offs are here, as well as how many unsearchable, situational one-offs are here. I'd probably cut Maju Garzett because of how strong Diabolos already is and how it basically requires that you already be ahead, and Prometheus because you obviously want your GY cards to be there both to float and to be a target for Phantom of Chaos. I'd also just side the Vanity's Fiend. The last thing I'd change is dropping one of the Fires of Doomsdays to add another Recurring Nightmare. The GY recovery is gonna be more valuable in more situations than having higher odds of drawing token fodder, especially since the Fires is supposed to be a potential substitute for a field spell that you're already running 6 of. Otherwise, I really like a lot of the creative strategies to make the deck more consistent, like the inclusion of Hand Destruction.

NoVa I have a blue eyes deck with a Critias engine, this engine fits so well inside blue eyes because they are level 8 dragons what means you can do nearly anything with them like with the blue eyes cards so I use them inside this deck. But of course I know that is completely different from what you where asking so *if* you want my deck just say it and I will send you it in here. Pls notice tho that i don't have any blue eyes support and not every card so you might want to swap some cards and I'm still working on it to make it better.

alright, so this is the deck i am using to get back into yugioh... i’ve decided to trade Fires of Doomsday for Enemy Controller and I was considering making Hand Destruction limited to 2 and replacing the third copy for something like Trade-In(but there’s only 4 level 8 monsters in the deck) i’m wondering if say a card like Foolish Burial, Monster Reborn or Field Barrier would be better alternatives to either 1. Have another way of sending Diabolos to the grave to enable his effect if he isn’t drawn 2. Have MR because it’s MR 3. Field Barrier to add armor to Lair of Darkness. What would you guys say?

i was also skeptical about you only running one virus in the deck, although, you had a great way of explaining how running more could be a potential brick. i’ve noticed with my previous versions of trying to build this deck on my own, that i was more infatuated with the actual effects of the virus cards rather than paying attention to their synergy within the deck. more times than not, i was stuck drawing viruses i could do nothing with. which is a shame, because i think almost all the virus cards seem a bit OP being able to discard your opponents hand or deck of any tuners or big monsters they may be wanting to use for plays. i guess they are just situational cards that will add to the already lacking consistency of the deck?

If you can see your opponents hand by a card effect and you have the field spell out, can you use heliopolis to use his effect to tribute from your opponents hand ?

You could not as the hand is always treated as an unknown card source, even if you know the cards in a player's hand. The only exception is when the cards in a player's hand are permanently revealed.
