Basically those in the city 2 out of 5 Sabah Chinese are hakka. Go Foh Sang or Lido old town where Chinese gather areas. Many youngsters still able to speak as long as they speak to parents, grandparents. 4/5 able to speak hakka even is not hakka descent like me, im hokkian but i speak fluent hakka. Other than Mandarin, hakka is the second most speak \ common dialect in Sabah. You won't find it hard to listen around. Its common.
We dont speak Hakka, we do not know anything, at all about Hakka language traditions people etc. According to civilregistry, I found 2 persons with our family name: one a seaman, the other a cook, both born in Singapore, one passed away 1928, the other 1933. Seah Yoon Soon, a cook, the other Soon Ling, a seaman. Both appeared in civil registry in Curacao: any clue to find out?
