The voice actor for Mr Iwamoto is indeed the same as Fuhrer King Bradley, Ed Blaylock. He has such a unique voice. Also the principal is played by Brice Armstrong, voice actor for Captain Ginyu and Lord Slug in DBZ, Tim Marcoh in FMA.

I think juvenile delinquency was more of a thing in Japan in the 80's. Nowadays that kind of culture is nearly gone I think (Also in the OG manga Yusuke flat out smokes, in the first ep when those two douche bags in school were talking crap behind his back he straight up shakes them for money, what gets him in trouble is one of them drops a cigarette and the teacher assumes is Yusuke's)

I think that’s why me and childhood friends use to relate to Yu Yu Hakusho. We would have to watch our backs going to and back from school. We would get into fights with others from school or stupid adults too. When we got older and graduated high school. One night at a club a few who still talked to each other were getting together and people recognized us and told us their side of view when they seen us. They thought we were a gang that likes getting into fights. But that was way far from the truth. We liked WWE and watched anime and played Halo and God of War and listen to Wu-Tang. We banded together to protect ourselves and others who couldn’t defend themselves. Man it was a ride going up in my youth. TIL this day I only fight to defend my family and myself. Keep on Watching I truly love this series to death.

Im not going too spoil anything but season 3 is a stable many animes have replicated. So don't give up on this anime, at least till its last season, that did derail the quality. Season 3 is legendary tier writing that is great too watch even thinkg of all the other animes that had too be inspired by this OG. 4:57 yeah thats the voice actor good ear.

Time period is important. The manga is basically 1980s Japan. Before the internet people actually went out and socialized which meant an increase in delinquency. These types of school gangs was a whole culture thing in Japan back then. Now? Non-existent. You can just stay home and waste time on the internet.

Actually it took place in the 90s seeing how the writer Yoshihiro Togashi Wrote it in 1990 and the anime around 1992.

When something is made doesn’t necessarily correspond to when it takes place, or even the time period it’s based on/inspired by. Note that OP didn’t expressly claim that the story takes place in the 80’s, but was more so talking about the style. The two of you are essentially talking about two different things, and thus you aren’t really correcting anything. Don’t ”actually” people if you’re not even on the same page. The name "Yusuke Urameshi" is a joke name, as I understand it. "Yusuke" could be interpreted as "ghost helper"; I think that's something like how the name "Janet" could be interpreted as "Ja net" or "yes net", so maybe a little bit of a stretch. But apparently, ghosts in Japanese graveyards say "Urameshi". So our boy "Yusuke Urameshi" has a name something like "Ghost Helper Booooooo".
