One other neat interaction in this format- if a Wall of Illuson is left on the field, you can attack it with a Man-Eater Bug or Trap Master to bounce them to your hand for re-use.

An interesting tidbit of information about historical 2002 Yugi-Kaiba Format is, that the european version was quite different. The starter Decks both contained 4 cards less and LOB had a couple more cards missing. Starter deck Yugi: -Beaver Warrior -Mammoth Graveyard -Neo the magic Swordsman (!) -Man Eating Treasure Chest (!) Starter Deck Kaiba: -Hitotsu-Me Giant -Ookazy (!) -Pale Beast -Hane-Hane (!) Legend of Blue-Eyes: -Hitotsu-Me Giant (again) -Flame Swordsman -Mammoth Graveyard (again) Trial of Nightmare- -Fusionist -Petit Angel -Mystical Sheep #2 -Masaki the legendary swordsman -Kurama -Power of Kaishin -Mountain -Hinotama (!) -Beaver Warrior (Again) -Karbonala Warrior -Larvas -M-Warrior #1 -M-Warrior #2 -Frenzied Panda -Dragonness the wicked knight -One Eyed Shield Dragon -Sand Stone -Hane Hane (!) (Again) -Pot of greed (!!!) While many of the cards missing aren't necessarily great, however, there are some meta definign cards among them. Not having Pot of Greed takes away a potent staple, Neo as one of the relativley few 1700 aTK Monsters will be missed, and the Treasure chest as another 1600 ATK fiend will also be felt by the players. Hinotama, Ookazy and Hane Hane being unavailable takes interesting choices out of the format as well. I'm pretty sure Europe was worse off due to these losses. AFAIK most of those cards got shoved into by then Spell ruler and an english LOB Reprint with the entire set made it to europe in 2004.

One thing I've learned recently is that Lord of D. had an original errata that said Dragons are not affected at all by Spells, Traps and Monster Effects which is mind blowing to me. Idk how this errata is/was treated in the format thanks to Upper Deck forgetting how to write in English on half of the cards printed.

As far as I'm aware in Yugi/Kaiba they use the immunity effect before it got the targeting errata. It's a similar situation to what happened with Wizards of the Coast giving it's ruling on Neo Genesis Slowking in Pokemon due to it's different card text giving it a massive buff which led to it being inevitably banned back then.

Ok, I built a deck I don't think anyone uses. I call it Curse of Dragon Beat down. Combo is to play last will, then tribute a monster for C-Dragon, then use Last wills effect to summon out Lord of D. which protects C-Dragon from card effects like Raigeki and Dark hole (see previous errata for Lord of D.). It also runs 2 soul exchange to get it on field and tribute your opponents monsters in the process. You have to activate pot of greed on your main phase if you use it manually. When activated, it targets the player that activated Pot of Greed. The targeted player must then pick up the top 2 cards of the deck, confirm it is indeed 2 cards to the opponent, and add it to hand, which is a term called “drawing” in card games. This effect can be negated by all spell card negation and can be stopped by card effects that specifically stops players from using effects that perform the effect of “draw”ing. This is the simplest explanation for Pot of Greed ever.

I’d say even when MRD MRL PSV came out by end of 2002 already the game had obtained spicy status where there were alort of generic fun strategies that one could play . Is it worth it/good strategy to play slightly more than 40 cards in this format? That way you will have an advantage over 40 card players if the duel goes on for a while since they will run out of cards before you do. It's not like you need only 40 since it's a very slow format. I was thinking 43 cards since that way I will always be ahead even if I go first and use pot of greed.

Interesting that you mention those games: In Yugi the Destiny half of these decks are unviable because it doesn't have cards like Judge Man, La Jinn, Battle Ox, Last Will, Soul Exchange, Ookazi (doesn't exist in all PoC games)...you'd have to greatly edit these first In Kaiba the Revenge all these cards exist but these decks would be slightly underpowered compared to what you can build with other available cards
