I always see the point of s:p being a super in the ocg but you can also get it a secret or a quarter century version of the card, they give you the opition of "Ok if you wanna play cheap fine, but if you want a extra glamour you can still have this 2 options", is miss this kinda oportuniy.

Same with Dragon Master Magia. In the OCG, it was both an Ultra and a QCR and that card is affordable there. In the TCG, with it being only QCR, it's currently 880 dollars and rising. It's not worth it, even though it's a card I need.

@TheDuelingBeard4 ай бұрын
Lab is bonkers, the fact that it’s not viable is mind blowing
@WolfPackAlpha-sn2sw4 ай бұрын
Lab is plenty viable. Lab is still getting top cut rep at major events. Lab is one of those decks that takes a very exceptional pilot that can REALLY pull the best out of each card. Yugioh's skill floor has only gotten higher and a deck like Lab is a perfect example of that. Playing a good deck sub optimally and banking on its raw power isn't enough anymore. The game mechanically is geared for a super, maybe almost HYPER, competitive approach. It's not for everyone, absolutely. But playing older formats can largely alleviate that pressure because the communities surrounding formats like Edison are much easier to approach and the game itself is more beginner friendly and digestible.

Let me put it this way The abridged series for Yu-Gi-Oh jokes about " children's card game " But as far as the TCG card game itself in America that is literally how Konami of America is treating it and its players it is to the point of insulting to wear that treatment feels like an absolute Dragon Ball hard gut punch of embarrassment to where don't blame people for quitting the game.
@randommaster064 ай бұрын
It's funny how Konami structured the TCG to only be profitable from extorting the customer base. Konami didn't bother growing the TCG market, so now new sets are only profitable if the good cards are pushed to higher rarities. Then those same cards don't get banned if they ruin a format until they get reprinted.

Stuff like this is the reason i quit yugioh for magic. Yugioh needs an equivalent of commander format. A casual format where people can play "bad decks" like Amazement, Witchcrafter, or Tindangel without just instantly getting curbstomped and without having to sit through 30 minute turns. Konami's problems with selling cards could actually be solved by literally just giving us the OCG product. It can literally be card for card including the banned shit like Maxx "C" and it would still fly off shelves while also supporting both the comp and casual ends of the game. It's insane how stupid our product is and how easy the solution is for Konami. And as far as your examples go, imo PHNI and LEDE are like... the worst examples you could have used. INFO isn't good value outside of the chase secrets, BLTR was awful value, MZMI was piss poor. At very least PHNI and LEDE had strong singles in low ENOUGH rarities that the boxes themselves were at least worth CONSIDERING. My buddy literally opened one box of LEDE and pulled a full Tenpai core ffs. An easy to pull Top 3 deck is crazy value. I'd argue that now Lacrima, Beatrice, and Apo are banned Fiendsmith actually improves the overall health of the game. Hell, Fiendsmith HARD CARRIES Memento as a viable deck. Without Lacrima and Beatrice specifically the engine is generic, but not in a way that's super unhealthy imo. The engine is VERY self isolating in being LIGHT fiends specifically, and still requires a decent amount of skill to use while playing around or using it to push THROUGH Nib. On top of that, it gives a bunch of rogue and low tier decks a VERY substantial power boost that simply isn't as pronounced in the higher end decks. In fact, I'd argue the only top deck that can genuinely utilize Fiendsmith in any significant capacity is Yubel by virtue of benefiting from things like Aerial Eater AND still getting a Rank 6 like Wave King or something that turns into material fodder for your main combos once its materials are used. Also, Fiendsmith dropping right before nats imo at least isn't the actual problem. The REAL issue with Fiendsmith dropping right before nats is both MD cards, and one ED card were secrets. If they were in say Secret AND Super, I don't think we'd have HALF the issues we do with Fiendsmith. Also Also, things like Beatrice have been broken since release lol they're just inherently poorly designed cards on their own and Fiendsmith happens to be able to summon those specifically. I don't think that AGOV was an EGGREGIOUSLY powerful set. SOME cards in it were pushing the meta yes, but needed their second wave of support to actually do anything with the exception of S:P and TY-PHON notably. But even then, I'd argue PHNI pushed the power level of the game further than POTE and AGOV combined. I personally like the current power level of the game, I like how it plays, so I can't say too much but I WILL say full power Snake-Eye is about as powerful as I think I'm willing to go unless EVERYTHING jumps up with whatever would be better than that deck.

Price value of sets is carried almost entirely on the back of meta power. Long as that's true, power creep is more like power sprint and playing the relevant part of the game will cost way too much in a time when most people don't have hundreds of dollars to drop for that month's cardboard The longer we go without shifting some of that set value to collectors and magpies, the faster this problem is going to accelerate. I am convinced the best thing for this game is doing more alt arts, rarity chase, and introducing extended arts. Make value out of something that isn't just meta power.

The game isnt played by new players, its 25+ year old males that is the main audience. Teens and kids wont play this game unless their family or friends get them into it. the meta is being artificially controlled by banning/limiting all previous archetypes that were decent. Konami then makes the newest cards so OP that you need them to compete in meta, you have to play their format. So we are forced to buy the new cards if we want to compete. But the new cards are being turned into high rarity prints that artificially boost the price. Since its mostly adult males, theyre willing to pay more with their discretionary income. This prices out the kids and the casual players. This loop isnt changing, its been happening for years, and is why we will see things keep getting more extreme unless konami changes their practices. As far as i can tell, konami has given up on growing the franchise from a media perspective. The anime carried the card game but theres no new media content. It’s mostly nostalgic people left and there is no engine to bring new players into the game. The company has no soul, its focus is on driving profits and exploiting its current base as much as possible without a real plan to get new people in

I disagree. Played since 2003, and power creep has always been a thing. There is a bunch of casually competitive decks atm; stuff like infernoid, LS, kashtura, purrely, centurion, etc. Can realistically top a regional, this is an era with variety despite just coming from a short tier 0 format. Core set rarities are fine as is, if anything, the ratio of good cards hasn't improved despite the average card quality going up. The constant reprints is what is killing the game, you can't buy cards without your collection getting destroyed left and right; stuff like reprinting retro pack is the ultimate show of this. I left the game for a year anf a half to play pokemom and to see high rarities of good cards at dirt cheap signals that something went wrong with reprint sets as they saturated the market. This means they will start reprinting newer cards faster, and that means product will struggle to move from shelves.
