But it’s Konami we are talking about. For Yugioh, they want the least amount of effort outside of products and the most amount of profits / money. They f*ck all of us in the a$$ in loops and even make you pay for the f*ckery. Not only once but multiple times. Then, they can spit you in the face and gift you your well deserved Nintendo Switch you can pull your butt cheeks together one more time and do it all again for another Nintendo Switch. Do it for Zelda, do it for Mario. But for the love of god, do it often and do it for Konami. They love you. And they love your money.

A lot of the discourse I hear is either “we want better prizing, look at what Lorcana players get!” or “you shouldn’t play for prizing, you should play because you enjoy the game, your hobbies shouldn’t be an extension of your income”. I think this ignores the perspective of “I enjoy card games, and if I’m going to sink hundreds of hours into minmaxing them, I’d rather play a game I like that makes money rather than a game I love that requires 4-digit investments every format for cards, transport, accommodation etc”. Especially if you work a low-income job, it can be a hard sell to keep playing a game that is making you miserable due to format-related issues and is costing you money to do so. Hobbies shouldn’t be a secondary source of income, true, but for many I’m sure it doesn’t feel financially responsible to sink thousands into a game when there are similar alternatives that test their already-proven skillsets and can ease any financial burdens they’re facing.
@rorschach45023 ай бұрын
Then don't sink 1000s into the game if it's a hobby and the rest of your lifestyle can't accommodate...you play what you have, and if you don't enjoy it you don't play. I don't think anyone is wrong for quitting if it doesn't make them happy 🤷 if you want to play a more enjoyable version of the game and have friends who will do so or access to older videogames of Yu-Gi-Oh that's awesome! If not, then it truly might be Worth finding a better hobby...and I guess on the flip side if you really feel like you need to pump 1000s into the game you better be playing competitively, in which case you may just need to make other lifestyle/work changes to accommodate what you can invest into this game if it's that important...
@ct12963 ай бұрын
@@rorschach4502 that’s the thing - many of these people are finding a different hobby. They realised the work/lifestyle changes they were making to accommodate for playing top-level YGO weren’t worth it, and that there are other similar games that reward players who put the hours in with financial compensation. Everything you’re saying is pretty much the conclusion many top players are coming to. They’re putting thousands in and getting nothing (financially or mentally) out of the game right now, and I don’t blame anyone for taking their talents elsewhere.

I gotta question Pak. Why don’t the pro players start more of their own tournaments and orgs with sponsors? You guys can even do it over MasterDuel and save yourselves the cost pf travel and we would definitely donate way more to the prize pool than any live event. Plus, there can be an agreed upon banned/unbanned format to help bring variety. It is inevitable that Fiendsmith is going to take over the meta and recreate the same problems that inevitably will hit in-person tournaments.

Breaking down competitive yugioh prizing: - regional prizing - those mats aint cuttin it, prizing itself not at all worth it for topping a few hundred person tournament - YCS needs better prizing. Winning a YCS you get okay prizing (ultra prize card averages $5k + extras) but the value is weak otherwise. 2nd and 3rd place supers are like $500 and you really dont get much else and everyone else in top cut gets pretty much nothing (switch or just a cheap mat). Overall pretty shit considering cost of travel etc - Nationals prizing is pretty trash but goal is to make to worlds and it allows you to do so - Worlds prizing is legit if you top 4. 2-4th place prize cards are 30-40k (the recent ones), 1st place >100k depending which card it is. The fact that top 8 and everyone else leaves pretty much empty handed is wild. So in general all of the prizing is pretty weak unless you win a YCS (which is not bad but would expect more out of wining a 16 round tournament) or top worlds

Back in the day your turn was your turn, your opponent could barely activate 2 cards/effects in your turn and still those games would last at least 10 turns (5 per duelist) but today is so rare games last more than 2 as 90% of the times the player that starts the game plays for 6-7 mins to end with a 4-5 monster brutal omni negate board.

Honestly I don't play competitive so I don't care what ppl think: - Yugioh community is toxic AF IRL so ppl are going on Master Duel/ DB -Yugioh tournament judges are humans and often base decisions based off emotions and not on reality -Konami doesn't put out consistently timed banlists and takes too long to address design flaws: ie. gimmick puppet, calamity, shifter, etc, random burn effects and time rules. It's mostly a competitive scene that's garbage, and cards that don't let opponent play without maining 23 handtraps in their maindeck. Back in 2012 the wind up hand loop made a LOT of players quit bc they didn't want to start their turn with 2 cards and couldn't afford 3x Maxx C 3x Veiler (this was before reprints) or 3 Tour Guide and the game went to shit for a few years. They're really easy fixes Pak. You are an awesome duelist: you have Yugi Moto energy and people are rooting for you. Breaks are okay. I don;t know anyone who hasn;t played the game without taking breaks. def use it to your advantage.

1. Tournament pricing is not even an issue. You play the game because you like it and to compete to be the best, not for tournament pricing. Any price you get is just a bonus. No company should ever fall into the trap to balance their game/focus on pro players. They are not the people keeping the game alive. 2. The real issues are terrible balancing and power creep (1 card combo's that are resilient, strong etc., no restrictions on certain cards like "Fire" Princess, Accescode, Erate Firewall, etc.) and the absurd price of products, shortprinting rarity cards that "just so happen to be the meta or favorite/wanted" cards. Those are the real issues of the game, not some absolute nothing argument like "tournament pricing".

Yugioh is fun for the reason that causes alot of its issues. You have all gas and barely any restrictions. All the issues you didnt like about other games are all resource dependant where you have to play alittle bit of a back and forth before you can get into the crazy cool combo parts of those games, Dragonball has some insane turns, same with lorcana it can have some insane turns. To my knowledge you've "Tried" them but you havent played them. I prefer yugioh as a game because I can do crazy cool combos, its faster but its basically the 3v3 team fighter marvel vs capcom equilvalent in Fighting games. The other games are more of a traditional fighter. Also I feel like you used the wrong pokemon card because Gardevoir cheats and accelerates energy. Yugioh is fast paced but rounds end on turn 2 or 3 without multiple turns, Thats what I like about The other card games you mentioned, you have to think long term, there is more interaction and a back and forth because of the resource system doesnt allow you to go balls to the wall turn one, thats what makes yugioh fun but its also what causes alot of its issues. Lorcana and Dragonball are more fun then magic for me because thier mana system is less strict and cards have multiple purposes then just being mana.

Seethe more, there's an unlimited supply of whales. They have no standards and will gladly shell out 1K for the CHANCE to be champion for a day. The only prize support they deserve is to lick the boot. Cutting to any number higher than top 8 is farcical and turns it into a crapshoot.

This is how you faced this game, that is the attitud Pak, of course the prizes are not that good, but man being on top or win I could imagine it really feels amazing. WE KEEP PLAYING THIS GAME BECAUSE WE LOVE IT.

Yeah I wanna feel that joy winning a YCS, WCQ, but after that... what else did I achive? It's not cheap to build a meta deck, you need to spend a lot of money, time, effort, practice... Even Jess said that she didn't get anything at top 8 at Worlds, that's ridicolous, it's not the way how we as YGO community should be treated... And yes I love this game, but a rubber mat + a deck box it's just a bad jocke

Yugioh is fine how it is. All players who quit the game bcos of the prizing just don't fit to the game no matter how much they won. Its a card game and hobby as a player so if someone needs to earm money for their lifetime go get a real aditional job. If you wanna have fun and and just enjoy your time play yugioh just a simple as that

Yugioh has by far the worst gameplay out of any modern card game. Draw 3 handtraps or get ftkd isn’t fun
