Remember at the start of the year how a minority of players were complaining about a “too diverse format”? Here we are now.

Many of those players took back their word and enjoyed that format. The takes I won't forget were about the reprints, and how meta-defining cards like the then Prosperity and Thrust SHOULDN'T be reprinted, thus not becoming more accessible and essentially paywalling a lot of players out of their optimal decklists when "credit card" shouldn't be part of a skillset.

I judged Richmond, it was so bad there. If you want a real diverse format, have the decks actually do different things.

​@@ConductorElcrest apart from Mannadium/Infernoble/Tear doing the same thing, Unchained/Purrely/Rescue (and later Fire Kings) had wildly different strategies. Then we also had Runick variants that WERE NOT stun. Labrynth and Branded topped. If your "every deck did the same thing just with a different coat of paint" means "stop the opponent from playing" then ygo only has 1 deck. From player attendance and product sales (at least from 7 different OTS perspectives) I can say it was a great format, compared to Fire Format were attendance in my area (locals, 4 regis, and nats) was almost sliced in half to the point Time Wizard has more players. I refused to judge because I wanted to play that format, and I'm biased for liking it, but looking at numbers shows a great format without taking my bias into account.

@@babrad Yes we have a LOT of different decks that played differently, but that's what a different coat of paint is literally "wow it ends on a board that literally says no to your opponent". You literally used Mannadium and infernoble which were literally the poster child of far too many negates. Mannadium even CALAMITY LOCKED. Like seriously, what did you think you were doing when you thought of your comment? Unchained and Rescue were actually the only decks that were really interactive, because even tear went for abyss dweller and had the shufflers which shut off a ton of graveyard based decks. THough even unchained wasn't as interactive due to wave high king ceasar. Looking at the format, espically at regionals, they were literally a lot of the same decks. I tried playing that format but it was just not fun. Towers with Purrly, Locking out your opponent completely, far too many negates, Lab and Branded were LOCKING with d-barrier and Gimmick Puppet. That's not even going into the virus cards Lab played. I literally heard people complaining at most of the regional's I judged at. Most of the time during public events people were NOT playing a meta deck and complaining about how bad the format was to play. At most regionals I judged we fired a TON of public events because people did NOT want to play the format. I don't get how you can call that format good when only 2 of the decks actually tried letting you interact with the opponent. The others were very toxic and unfun. I say this as someone who heard a ton of players talk about it, tried playing it, and was public events go wild at regionals, people did NOT want to play it. The fact is no one was playing the decks they played in the main event in public events because they were not fun. I saw so many cool stratgies that were just shut down with how bad that format was. If no one is playing the meta decks in a PUBLIC EVENT it's a sign that no one is enjoying the decks. I saw ONE Branded that entire format in public events. No other main meta decks.

You say "what did you think you were doing when you thought of your comment?" then go on about the exact point I made "apart from Mannadium/Infernoble/Tear doing the same thing". Did you miss the "apart" ? So we agree on Unchained and Rescue. Even about Caesar, it was a "Caesar pass" board with Sharvara in hand because the deck would immediately lose to "talent take" their Caesar negating Chamber/Rage/Sharvara/float into Abo, incentivizing players to use highly interactive cards such as Book of Moon and Enemy Controller (in my opinion peak card design). Towers Turbo in Purrely isn't that toxic of a strategy when the deck's overall ceiling is much lower than the competition with the diversity of decks hurting immensely because they could play into very unfavorable matchups. It also rewarded players taking Purrely into account when deckbuilding. Due to the number of Bystials (especially after Joss making Bystial Runick even more represented) Puppet lock fell off since they wouldn't risk their entire board against a Bystial (on Red), meanwhile Lab didn't have easy locks with D-Barrier when Unchained and Rescue were the 2 top decks and didn't care at all, forming a pseudo-triangle between Lab/Branded vs Rescue vs Unchained, where Lab won against Rescue and hard lost to Unchained while Branded did the exact opposite The outliers of the format was Tear with 2 millers legal, Infernoble with Dolphin handloops into actually unbreakable boards, and Mannadium having so much gas you needed complete blowouts to counter it when it didn't lose to itself. That's why I separated all 3 from the rest of the format. In the 13 years I've been a judge, I don't remember a single format where there aren't any complains. From locals to Nats (I haven't judged in a ycs due to distance, when I travel I prefer to play). Most decks, especially rogue decks can easily create "unfun", "uninteractive" and "toxic" gamestates that would lead to horrible formats if they ever became meta. Don't let their issues (fragility, inconsistency etc) make you think "rogue is healthy" compared to "meta". About public events, I see no reason to play the same "advanced" deck there in ANY format when you have the option for an alternative format with the exception of 3v3. Anyway, I respect your opinion despite disagreeing with it. To get a better picture, could you give me some examples of "good formats" in your opinion and why such formats are better than AgOv?

Forbidden section is great, but it just sucks to see that Snake Eye hasn’t been really knee capped at all in this list. Like Poplar and Ash to 1 sounds cool on paper, but then you realize that realistically you only need one of them to do full combo, and there’s still plenty of mechanisms to get there, Diabell set OSS, Wanted to search Diabell, and all of those cards are still at 3 ,snake eyes was a deck that really needed something to be outright banned to hurt it

This is the first list in a long while that has actually hurt me as a casual player. Apollousa being cheap recently let me buy it, and my three copies of branded fusion (for a tiny fusion engine in a hodgepodge deck) are now down to one. Glad to see fiendsmith get hurt though. Snake eye could’ve done with a few bans, not just limiting to one. Their combo still works.

When That Grass Looks Greener was last legal, it was exploited in 60-card decks to dump a bunch of cards for GY setup. Nowadays, it's an unsearchable one-of in a 60-card deck that can be Ashed in a format that's far more consistent than any before it. Famous last words: How bad could That Grass at 1 possibly be?

I called the Lacrima banning and have evidence in the form of a conversation I had with someone in dms and some comments I left on some other creator's videos, that card is a common. As for what I think about the rest. The hits to Snake-Eye isn't enough and if it's not still tier 0 after the list goes into effect, it will be again once ROTA releases. Needless to say I'm going back to the pokemon tcg for any modern tcg and will be playing only edison for Yugioh from here on out

About king Calamity, i think it's a preemptive hit. As soon as the Blue-Eyes support gets released, King Calamity will be easily abused by Spirit Dragon.

The problem with King Calamity is that Crimson Dragon exists, it makes all kinds of super powerful level 12 synchro monsters playable, and it makes the King Calamity easily the best target to summon during the opponent’s turn, Konami can just ban Crimson Dragon, and then King Calamity would not be a problem. I think Crimson dragon is ban worthy card in the future.

Lacrima is an important card, that’s a HUGE ban, like the deck just is massively weaker the plus 1 extra body, and what fusion are you even summoning now lol, I wouldn’t have hit it. They should’ve hit snake-eyes harder. Ban the dragon is the only way, it the advantage generator of the deck. Bringing back grass is insane lol, Branded is crazy rn, they barely got a slap on the wrist. It hurt Tenpai but not really, tenpai and snake eyes were barely touched essentially lol, and ubel also a slap on the wrists. The biggest here was Fiendsmith, but the too decks are still the best decks, just way less toxic cards in the format.

Because Beatrice is literally a generic Lavalaval Chain for anyone who can make rank 6s easily. Oh and did I mention it's foolish burial eff is a quick effect too? Fiendsmith can do that and fiend support can very easily spam level 6 monsters Appolusa is often at 3 to 4 counters and is usually backed by other negation to make it impossible to a board to break outside of Dark Ruler No More. Lacrima Fiendsmith: Time rules were being absued by this card for 1200 burn damage in time too much too often. Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity: Centurion and other synchro spam decks were making this during the opponent's to prevent them from playing the game at all via a 4K turn skip beat skip of a monster too often. So thus it Utopic Zexal , VFD Calamity, Number 82 Rhongo, Azzathot and any other card that turn skips your opponent spell speed 4 is now banned for eternity.

Konami gets that shifter can make some decks better and counter their tier 0 deck, giving other deck some chance. That's why left it at 3, I expect at most semi, but good they didn't even do that. More decks that can use it coming soon too so that make sense. Skill drain to 1 sadge. I guess OCG drain already at 1 too anyway iirc, I forgot MD. So fine I guess. Lacrima ban kinda interesting, didn't expect they hit it this fast, wonder if it hit fiendsmith hard enough, prob not. Apo Beatrice and calamity is ban lot ppl already expected. Snake eyes lack hits tho, only poplar and ash limit. Would've be nice if they hit more or ban some cards. Still tier 0 especially with azamina coming soon. Grass is interesting, I don't think at 1 make much difference tho? If semi maybe.

@@invertbrid Well the reason with Snake eyes lacking hits besides Ash and Poplar limits is mainly so it doesn’t affect the sales of the Megatins too much so players that didn’t get the chance to play the deck can get the chance to play it at full power for a few months. Then on the next banlist the deck will actually get nerfed.

This is the right hit in the long run, and the true "Knightmare Mermaid" not Heaven - Sequence? The power play of the deck, but also very innovative and useful for many fiend decks thanks to Aerial Eater - Engraver? Rip the entire engine, although I can see a limit after next year's tins or in 2-3 lists if things go out of hand - Tract? too weak to matter - Desirae? Honestly this is the "fairest" form of 'negate', hitting only stuff on the field while it can be played around even by Cosmic

I just think its a average list and will nowhere near live up the hype people had. I doubt the top 3 will shift out of the meta, even so Snake-eyes will be back at the top when azamina comes around. I really would liked to see Yubel/Tenpai for one more format untouched. I dont get why Puppetlock is still around, Heavy Storm should have come back. Chicken Game at 2. Lots of people complained about Shifter/Droll and both are still around. I:P should go aswell. Grass is crazy to me, we'll see. If used right, Time Seal with Labrynth can def seal the game on the opponent. As Labrynth can play through a lot of what the opponent throws out causing them to use up all of their resources. Then by using it to keep them from drawing it's an auto win.

@scorpiophoenix2778 was planning on a different approach. I call it 'Dat ass' Got 3 book of moon, 3 book of eclipse, 3 karma cannon, 3 floodgate trap hole, and 3 quaking mirror force. No link, synchro, or xyz summon for the opponent. Thinking of swords of concealing light as well.

Snake eyes is still busted, Branded still have it's stupid unfair locks because of Albion sanct... But they limite the fusion of this not that play deck ... And we still have shifter and dim barrier at 3 ... What where they thinking ? The banlist itseft is ok but it lacks A LOT to be really good and the branded part is just awful
