Just in case anyone's wondering why the fuck Jaden attacked with tempest: It's explained in the sub. Since they can't share strategies with each other, he was trying to show Syrus that you don't have to destroy a monster for the opponent to lose life points. The move WAS basically pointless, but it gave Syrus the confidence to use power bond.

I still don’t understand the first attack with Tempest? All it did was end up wasting Syrus’ facedown card. Which then meant the next tie with Dark Guardian meant he had to get rid of Skyscraper. Am I missing something??

Dub does a horrible (non-existent) job of explaining it, but in the Japanese sub it's explained that Judai was trying to help Sho without breaking the 'no strategising' rule of the Tag Duel. More specifically, he was showing that he had to sacrifice a card to keep Tempest, prompting the Paradox Brothers to attack it, so he in turn could sacrifice Skyscraper to save Tempest again but this time also take battle damage, that way Sho would see that you can still deal damage without a monster being destroyed by battle. This ultimately helped because come Sho's turn he recognised that playing Power Bond would result in enough battle damage to win, even though Dark Guardian wouldn't be destroyed.
