Angry Italian engine from 70's. It bytes so determinen in every gear. I could imagine how it would perform coupled with some modern ZF transmission. Yugo unfortunatelly is very non-aerodinamic car with quite high drag. So end speed over 160 is success. YouGO!! BTW This one should be called "Zastava Yugo 135 T.C."

Less then 800kg, 135 WHP... So a regular performance car around 1500-1600kg. That ads up to 260-270 WHP (roughly 300BHP). So if you think about it, this thing is a proper performance car. Take into consideration it is an old school carb thing.

I have driven several rally cars, Citroens, Peugeots, Toyotas. None was more fan than my first rally car, a Yugo with Lancia Delta engine, Uno Turbo brakes, Alquati steering, Alquati gearbox, Osrav racing suspension, on 750 kg car hanging on a roll-cage. It was not the fastest, but it was the most fun by far.

Excellent performance from naturally aspirated carb engine. Driven by good driver who maintains his own car, so he is a bit careful there. In hands of late Sabine Schmidt this car would've overrun many of turbo charged direct injection cars on that track Very nice

MrGovenator1 While *far* from the best cars their reputation is mostly exaggerated *myths* . The problem was that the people who purchased them usually were cheap and didn't bother with changing oil or servicing the car for that matter. A lot were commuter cars for poor students and quite a lot of them didn't bother with ANY car they owned. And btw, most French, Italian and British cars at the time had *worse* reliability. People who bothered to service their Yugos saw them rack up an impressive amount of miles on their odometers. Shit box? Too harsh. Bad car? Not quite. Below average? Probably. For the price? Pretty decent. Well, you get what you pay for. And FYI I have driven one. Nowhere near as bad as I imagined. Compared to most 80's hatchbacks only Japanese cars and Volkswagens were better. South Korean Hyundais were a nightmare in the 80's.

The red digital gauge is exhaust temp? Make a 1.9 8V engine for it with wilder cam, max power near 8000, can get +180HP with 45-48 DCOE, here in Spain the old Ibizas 1.2 and 1.5 and Málagas have that gearbox type, longer ratios, final end are 4,294 3,944 and 3,736. 5 gear is 0,769, but race cam need short 5 gear ratio, to leave the engine takes rpm. Next days (or months, now coronavirus) I´ll go to my Yugo 55a, only 23.000Km, all stock but thinking in tune it. There is another Yugo for sale with only 175Km, 20 years stored.
