The amount of trust Sekita has for Yuki since their Chuo Univ days never changed. He knew his captain will be the best option during crucial moments. Ishikawa carried his team on his back since taking the captaincy and finally won a medal for his country. This japanese team will be scary in the future most especially when they find a couple of solid MBs that could protect the net. Heads up! Omedetou!

Ishikawa's performance throughout the competition is truly spectacular. He's so reliable specially when some of their key players missed some games due to injury. If it isn't because of the FIVB rule, I think he deserves to be the MVP 'cause that man is all over the individual stats.

So true the only lacking on this Japan team is their MBs😭 they aren't consistent throughout this competition so glad their fd and superb wingers can make up for it but if they want to achieve Olympic gold medal they badly needed a real threat MB. They gonna be unstoppable if it happens.

@@remildamedrano8894 Most likely, (though there were other cases that the MVP wasn't from the champions team but) in VNL the most preferred to get all individual awards are from the teams of 3rd to 1st place and the MVP must be from the 1st place just like this VNL 2023. Stats-wise, Ishikawa is supposed to be the MVP.

To put things into perspective - all the italian players on the court except for their libero are all 2 meters or more in height. Ishikawa is just 1.92 m and the only japanese players above 2 m are their MBs. This is why the RJN team is so special! They find ways to win amidst adversity!!

i don't really think there was any adversity, every team has strengths and weaknesses. Italy being a tall team means their passing line is going to be a weakness, and it was against the USA and Japan. They also had worse ball control at the net than USA and Japan. Japan was just better, height is not adversity.

Japan did great overall, i wouldnt say this was the best ishikawa game but it was up there for sure... miyaura in fact felt more solid overall.. everyone did great... but im just utterly surprise on why they decided to do a bronce and a final just a day since the semi finals match... they were tired in both games... theese are very high intensity games less than 24h for rest its insane
