Jason Newsted left the band in 2001. Rob Trujillo (guy with braids) started with the band in 2003. I recommend Metallica live in Moscow 91~ Creeping Death

@@HasPotatoAim who cares about the size of the crowd. The Seattle performance is superior in every way. The Moscow show was a multi band concert not just a Metallica show. Seattle 89 is the best concert ever recorded.

Lars is definitely not a bad drummer. He's just gotten a little lazy in his later years. He helped pioneer metal drumming in the 80's and his performances on ride the lightning, master of puppets and ...and justice for all are fantastic. In saying that, Lars can definitely still turn it on when he wants to. Please react to fight fire with fire live in Mexico 2009. It's a pro shot performance for a DVD. Lars is on fire

I never really understood the Lars-hate, he is a great drummer, he didn't really become lazier, the whole band went downhill hard after the Black Album due to addiction problems, etc... I think he is mostly hated for the strong stance he toke against downloading during the early 2000's and people started saying he wasnt that great a drummer to begin with... Which is just not true...

The fact of the matter is, there would be no Metallica without Lars. They can hate on him all they want but the guy has nothing to prove to anyone.

Lars is a very good drummer. But as James said when they first met: ”He wasn’t a very good drummer but he was so confident and had all this visions”. Lars is the ring leader of Metallica. It was his idea to change style after the black album. James was very hesistant. Lars is very out spoken and thinks very highly of himself, so people just assume he’s a duche, when he’s actually a very nice guy. He was a pioneer in thrash metal drumming but he is very inconsistant and has trouble with pacing. But that’s if you wanna be picky with him. He is a hero to many drummers of today and the reason why many started drumming.

Later years? I'd say anything past '93 it's clear he gave no shits to practice and for the last 20yrs he has been horrendous. '86-'93 were his good years.

If you want to hear Metallica at their pinnacle, give "ORION" a listen. It's an instrumental but it does not disappoint!

Nita Strauss - Pandemonium Nita is the lead guitarist for Alice Cooper, she's a classically trained guitarist with a style like legends Jason Becker, Yngvie Malmsteen and Steve Vai. She released her 1st solo album in 2018 called Controlled Chaos, it's all instrumentals focusing on her amazing guitar skills. She's a descendant of classical composer Johann Strauss.

Metallica Creeping Death live from Moscow is considered one of their greatest live performances. This was after Russia collapsed, so for everyone in the crowd it was their first time hearing Metallica, my personal favorite is Pantera Domination live from Moscow, Dimes two solos are epic.

Lars gets hate because he took over the duties of Cliff after he passed. If you notice there is a lot of similarities between Kill and Black. Shorter songs, not as complicated structures and no real classical feel. Cliff was classical trained hence why the albums he was a part of creating have that vibe. Justice was a tribute to Cliff. They kept the harmonizing but left everything else behind after Justice.

This song was written by Mustaine before he joined Metallica. The first version is called “The Mechanix” it’s shorter and faster and was on their first demo tape No Life Til Leather. When he was kicked out of Metallica, they used his song and changed the lyrics and added that mid section. Megadeth was formed and Mustaine kept the original with the name “Mechanix”. All 3 versions have their place in metal history and I suggest you check out the other two.

Around the mid-1980s, Lars Ulrich was actually a pretty great drummer. It was afterwards where he began to slack off that is tempo and patterns were just really lazy and even rhythmically inconsistent, and not the good kind.

I was 13 when this album came out and it transformed my life. Lars' playing inspired me to learn and play drums (Which i have for 35 years now, I just started to learn and play bass guitar). He kicked ass up until Loud after which he kinda last his mojo but found it on Death Magnetic and Hardwired. Robert Trujillo was playing in Suicidal Tendencies when this concert was recorded and wouldn't join Metallica for another 14 years. Jason Newsted replaced the deceased Cliff Burton in 1986 and left the band Jan 2001. Bob Rock played bass on St Anger. They did have another bass player before Cliff, Ron McGovney who left the band just before Kill em All. Yes Dave Mustaine helped write the song which he later recorded with Megadeth as The Mechanix... same music shittier lyrics. So glad James rewrote the lyrics to this song Dave's version sucks!!!!!

Lars is one of my favorite drummers & I would never disrespect him but any musician should be able to hear he has tempo issues live & rarely plays consistent to the parts on record. I think his biggest strength is his song & drum arrangements.
