It is said that if one understands any subject thoroughly, then he/ she should be able to explain it in a simple manner! Yuko Sensei delivers her teachings in a manner so easy to understand. I have been struggling with my study and it's not too late that i have found you- because learning a language is a journey. You are amazing !!Thank you Sensei

You have no idea how helpful these particle videos are. I took one semester of Japanese in college and, despite using particles from the very beginning, their specific meaning and use was, if you can believe it, _never explained._ We were just supposed to figure it out. I never took the second half of the course (spring semester) because there was so much that just never got explained. I started the DuoLingo Japanese course in July, and I'm already reading and understanding Japanese better than I could from a whole college semester. I'm also able to form (and speak) more complex sentences than I ever could in college. These particle videos are like a pole vaulting leap forward in understanding, too. Thank you very much!

You are very good at teaching people who automatically ask a lot of questions when they learn something new. You answer most of those questions by giving many examples and exceptions, or by simply explaining what something means in a literal sense, or where the word or phrase came from originally. Thank you for putting in the extra effort to actually *teach* the language instead of just giving a list of information as if it's a monthly credit card statement.

Rick-san, I think all the questions I've received from students in my years of teaching does help to better these videos significantly. It has made me aware of what aspects Japanese learners feel puzzled.

I think providing comparative explanation of examples between Japanese and English usages is one of things that helps learners to understand the lesson better. It works even for a non- native English speaker like me. つぎ の 授業 を 楽しみする! どうも ありがとう ございます ゆこ 先生.

Arigato sensei, On the last sentence, "I always speak Japanese at home" I paused the video and wrote "Itsumo nihongo de uchi de hanashimasu." (I wrote it backwards ) I didn't know particle DE can be used more than once in a sentence. Gracias 🙏🏻

As someone who also studies Mongolian and Latin, I can confirm these are the perfect equivalents of a case system. で is pretty much the Mongolian Dative (place of action) and Instrumental (tool marker). My advice is to not learn them as translations of English prepositions, but as broad concepts as a whole. For example, in English we say "I talked with my mother" and "I eat with chopsticks," but in Japanese these sentences are "母と話します" and "はしで食べます。" One is the Commitative and the other is the Instrumental. Don't get confused.
