Sensei, is it correct that "うち" is used for "home" while "いえ" is for "house", although they share the same kanji "家"?

Hi Yuko sensei, for the last example うちから学校まで歩いていきます。can you put に particle after 歩いて since いきます since its a directional phrase? and Ikimasu is an indicator for the particle?

ありがとございます ゆこ 先生。Can we use the particles after the verbs or we can only but them after a noun? like 歩いて in this video(͡๏̯͡๏).
Is まで considered to be inclusive for dates ? E.g. in English in the sentence 'Promotion is valid from 27 April to 31 May' it's not clear whether the promotion is still valid on 31 May.
@sandiego23802 жыл бұрын
if you say from to 31. May, the 31st is included in English...

Is あるいて=步いて?Do we use kanji 步more often as a verb stem?
@YukoSensei5 жыл бұрын
Yes, あるいて = 歩いて in Kanji. I didn't use it in this lesson since the Kanji 歩 is not introduced yet in Lesson 10 in Genki.

Great video series. Thank you. I wonder about the pronunciation of ち in うちから. It sounds like the ち has a silent 'i'. Is there any rule to this?
@YukoSensei5 жыл бұрын
Nasseさん, Great question! In pronunciation, the vowels [i] and [u] tend to get devoiced (become silent) between two voiceless consonants. Examples: [i] in sh[i]chi [u] in s[u]kiyaki Here, the vowel [i] in ち is between the consonants [ch] and [k] so it becomes silent only because it is easier to pronounce it that way, so most native speakers will devoice the [i] in this case although it is not wrong to pronounce it. On the side note, the word-final [u] vowel also tends to become silent. Example: des[u], mas[u]. Hope this helps!
