Fu Lum actually looks like a kinda cool character to play as. As for the movie... the FUCK?! As soon as I saw Kung Fu Hustle, I instantly thought, "Man, whoever did this, could probably make a sick Dragon Ball movie." Shame the producer just saw dollar signs, and had no love or respect for the source material. However... not ALL hope is lost. I heavily suggest all DBZ fans check out Man of Steel. That, is pretty much a DBZ movie, and the closest we'll be getting for a while. God, were the fight scenes in that movie great.

The depressing thing is that this is one of only three DBZ fighting games to include Chi-Chi as a fighter, only two to include Grandpa Gohan and the ONLY one to include Bulma and Mai(Well, if you don't count Mai's involvement with Pilaf's mech from the Tenkaichi series to be a playable instance)

Those aren't bad character portraits. They're transformations. You know how normal Dragon ball games will have Base form Goku, Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan 2 Goku e.t.c? Well this game has Base form Goku, looking slightly to the left Goku, Staring angrily at Apple Goku, and of course Fart-Face Goku.

As a matter of fact, I DO remember Mai. She works with Pilaf. A very major character in Dragon Ball. They are the ones who revive Piccolo and work for him. So her role is pretty similar. They just don't have Pilaf or Shoo.

Like, despite a few control issues (and the fact that it's based on one of the worst movies ever made), it's actually a fairly decent game. It's just a typical DBZ game based on the Budokai series. The various pictures they use of movie goku are pretty stupid. He looks stupid, constantly confused, constipated, or all of them at the same time. Especially when he squatted down and got mad an apple. That was the worst one, but in the best way. Also, getting Yuri Lowenthal to play movie Goku in this shitty game based on a shitty movie, based on an awesome franchise, was probably the only good thing that came out of this awful movie. And Yuri's review of the game. Those are the only "good" things that came out of this game. So now, instead of being 100% awful, the shitty movie is only 99.8% awful.

It's funny you make the point about the character portraits, but 90% of anime games do this. Granted some of them have voice acting, but games like the Tales series will have talking head character portraits even though the models are RIGHT THERE ON THE SCREEN. And don't even get me started on visual novels/ dating sims. Most of them don't have voice acting and you're lucky if you have two or three variants to character portraits.

Actually Grandpa Gohan is mentioned in the filler episode about Gohan's 12th birthday. Chi-Chi and Ox king were trying to come up with a name for their kid/grand kid and Goku was more worried about eating. So when he was about to go out Chi-Chi started yelling at Goku saying something along the lines of "DIDN'T GOHAN TEACH YOU ANY MANNERS?" and Gohan liked that name.

I can't confirm this but I'm guessing the reason this was PSP exclusive is because the Shin Budokai series was PSP exclusive as well and by the same company. i'm going to give some background on a few things. first off, dragon ball evolution was not based on dragon ball z, it was based on the original dragon ball. second, mai was a character. she was one of emperor Pilaf's (the first antagonist) servants. in the original dragon ball, king piccolo was able to spit out mini demons which is what i think fu lum was meant to be. but i can't explain fuller and the other guy.
