Exclusively for Radio 2's Virtual Folk Festival 2020, Yusuf / Cat Stevens performs a timeless song, live in Dubai. Originally on his classic 1970 album, Tea For The Tillerman, Yusuf has recently re-recorded the song for a new record - Tea For The Tillerman 2 - which recasts the songs for a new era.
Radio 2's Virtual Folk Festival 2020 also included live performances from Suzanne Vega, Kate Rusby, Fisherman's Friends, Loudon Wainwright III, Fara and more.

For me this also bring a tear of sadness that pure souls like Yusuf singing these messages for decades now but nobody listen really, they go on destroying our beautiful planet. 1) By causing the climate emergency by our heat-trapping, methane-producing way of livestock raising for gain, and ignoring the lives of billions on our planet, including precious species that are in danger of extinction. And many have been already on the list of extinction. 2) For causing deforestation by chopping pieces of the great lungs of our world. 3) For polluting our water sources, rivers, oceans, environment, air and soil. 4) For causing a lot of resource dwindling including food and water shortages due to animal raising, and drought that causes further traumatic effect on human life and animal life as well. We must change if we want to claim that we are human, that we are the children of God! Because WE CANNOT SAY THAT WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD IF WE MURDER OTHER CHILDREN OF GOD (the animals) and destroying Gods creation.

An unequivocal monster songwriter/singer/lyricist/guitar player/piano player/composer of the 1970's era. He always had great back-up musicians Alun Davies, was his mainstay co-guitarist - Paul Samwell-Smith, produced Cat's most successful LP's and provided Cat's signature clean-crisp sound - and the much acclaimed Del Newman wrote the string arrangements for his songs. The backstories to many of his songs are interesting as hell - worth checking out.

did you know he went to Iraq and got married in the 70's true story look it up yeah he renounced his american citizenship and became an Iraqi citizen under sadam Husain its a fascinating story with alot of bends. probably worth reading about. he did release another album after that I think traditional Iraqi Tamborine music or something

I’m from Minneapolis and this song has hit me really hard recently. I want my city to be safe again. I was present for a shooting last night-we’re all so traumatized that we all dove under a table in synchronization, like a Pavlovian response from all those active shooter drills. This song hits that heavy feeling in my heart and at the same time makes it a little more bearable because at least the one man who wrote this one song has felt the exact same way I do.

My mother played his music over and over from a tape cassette machine, in her kitchen in the early seventies. Now these songs really resonate with me more now.
