I doubt the younger generations realize how truly lucky they are to see Cat Stevens/Yusuf in the flesh. He is a true legend in our own time and he has been for the past 50 years. So many great artists have come and gone over the years. I remember when Cat Steven's was being boycotted for wanting to follow his heart, and I couldn't bring myself to suffer the sacrifice of giving up his music. I'm happy to see that people have come to their senses and finally accepted Yusuf's life choices. To each their own, I say. In the meantime, I will always be grateful to Yusuf, or Cat, or whoever the man sees himself as for the gift's he has/is given/giving us all in his music.

This song has great significance in my life. My boyfriend/fiancé, then husband used to sing the chorus to me whenever something scary happened. After his death in 2011 I was walking through Bristol on my way to work and a busker was singing it. Then in 2012 I thought I would get away from it all, after the sad events of 2011, and booked a holiday in America, a touring holiday of the California Coast, etc.. I was in Palm Springs one evening and this song was being performed at a Karaoke bar. Uncanny. So much for getting away from it all! I think I can therefore call this song “Our Song”.
