He caught Hiei by surprise with a solid counterpunch, then later managed to ricochet a spirit gun off a mirror (forlorn hope, stolen artifact of darkness) that blasted Hiei in his back. (Kurama did kinda intervene/help during the fight by stepping in front of a blade.)

This fight is about 2 minutes long and it's better than most other anime today sadly. Hell the reused scenes where they're just punching each other for 7-8 seconds is way more hype than 99% of other anime fight scenes. Good old fashion beatdowns are way better.

This is an enjoyable/ incredible moment of the Yu Yu Hakusho series, an amazing but brief rematch between Yusuke vs Hiei and this is a decent rivalry between two members of the main group cast. Hiei and Yusuke were testing one another during this battle and these friendly rilvary fights are enjoyable to see every once in a while.

Keep in mind Yusuke is still an A-Class while Hiei is an upper B-class. Yusuke was distracted because he was angry and being irrational, that's how and why Hiei was able to keep up. At the end of the series, they're more or less equal, but Yusuke's new energy definitely gives him an edge.

Hiei didn't go all out in that battle he wanted to die that whole saga until that battle with Mukuro convinced him he had reasons to live and even if Mukuro didn't use full power who says she used half power even it was half of her power an A class demon would be demolished so Hiei was S class and he didn't absorb the Dragon so we don't know how strong or fast he was Mukuro didn't have an easy time fighting off Hiei at all.

Well, Hiei explained that him and Kurama fought before when they first met. As for Yusuke and Kurama they haven't fought. However, during this arc, Kurama was pissed and did warn Yusuke to stay out of his way because he was in a "bad mood." Yusuke knows not to get on Kurama's bad side. Plus, they had no reason to. However, this would be an interesting battle between the two

I...Don't think that's right, as Dragonball was a thing in the 70s, where as this anime/manga was a late 80s - earl9 90s thing. I love them both, I grew up on DB and YYH, but YYH has always been more gangster, while DB has always had more powerful characters. I love them both, though, for what makes them different, as YYH has stronger character development and writing, I feel, personally, while DB has more endearing and memorable characters. I think YYH could have done that, too, if it was as wide spread in media as DB was/is, considering YYH never had as many video game adaptions, movies, or as much hype around it as DB generated, more people are just more connected to DB then they are YYH, even if they did grow up with both.

He's stronger than Mukuro because she was weakened after the chains holding her power got broken in their fight. With her at full strength, the power imbalance was pretty high. Hiei never had a chance in their fight, she just kept it going because she wanted him to learn a lesson, just like Yomi did with Shura. I have no doubt Mukuro could have just instantly squashed Hiei if she wanted.
