5 hours render time because of that dingy filter at the end thanks after effects, good thing I hate sleeping
so this drawing was a bit ambitious of me, but fun nonetheless! I was supposed to only draw the kid in the middle but hmm :lc Hal looks so confused lol
anyways. the kid in the tie dye shirt is a new addition to the group, his name is Logan and he's a pelican. just like Hal he can exchange his wings for arms at will. he's eating some bread Hal stole for him lol
he's pretty young, and kind of a strange character. he doesn't talk much and is very curious with no regard of personal space. he likes softly biting stuff just to feel the texture (he bites Hal's hands/arms a LOT). he likes colorful things, hence the shirt and the charms in his hair
he's part of a story my friend Nousanti (previously Sunbear) and I are working on. the octopus character you saw at the end is his, go check out his speedpaint and subscribe to him, he's a wonderful artist!

PIXEL _TIDES According to the Hal character drawing, they are able to change from wings to arms but not both at once (wings on back, arms in shoulder sockets) but Hal uses his wings mostly so he's clumsy with his hands

First, I adore your choices in music for these videos. Second, I have a few questions about your ocs? (Hope I'm not being too annoying here, ahha) but how do their wings work? From this picture I assume that they can switch back and forth between wing and arm, how does that work exactly? Is it quick? Is it painful? And on that note, can the octopus girl change just one of her tentacles and get a human arm, or is she more mermaid-like? Thank you for your time!

interesting questions! my friend and I are still working on it, but since their species stem from mythological creatures they kinda bend the rules of physics haha. all species except octopi can exchange their limbs for more human ones and back in the blink of an eye, it's painless, kind of like "magic" but we're trying to find an alternative to that since it's kinda cliche haha. the octopus is a boy by the way! His name is Amopaon and he can't shapeshift at all, since octopi are believed to be cursed creatures. he *can* work a bit of enchantment on other beings though! in order for Amo to shapeshift he'd need another octopus creature to change him, but he doesn't know any. thanks for the questions, I appreciate your interest!

yvoi you know, as I was typing that I had actually thought "aw crap what if he's a boy." Trust your gut. While I can't advise on the human-> wing transformation, I kind of thought of them just really quickly shedding their feathers to reveal a human arm, due to how similar human arms and bird wings are, but hey, that's just my two cents. Good luck, and I can't wait to see more of these fellas!

Can I ask, how do you get everything your art to be that sort of golden colour, even the blue? I'm not sure if you know exactly what I mean but like, everything looks kinda gold or brown even though it's not? Idk hopefully you get what I'm trying to ask here. I know exactly what you mean, don't worry! I always adjust my colors to work well with my background color, so every color kind of falls under the same environment if that makes sense. And since I always lean towards warmer colors, the results are kind of glowy yellow most of the time! The blue in this is really just a warm gray, it's the saturation difference between the other colors that makes it seem blue :D color theory! (and I always use some overlay layers to color grade it further)
