YYNOT's new lead singer, Patty, is amazing. I loved Rocky, too -- don't get me wrong. She was terrific. But Patty really seems to channel Geddy a bit better. I've seen a few other live videos of older Rush songs (Anthem & Bastille Day included), and she just NAILS those.

@@hammill444 With what, exactly? Patty being a good fit for singing Rush? Man…check out her rendition of “Something For Nothing,” also on this channel. If that doesn’t appeal to you, I’m not sure what to say other than well, you’re certainly entitled to your opinion! I will say this, I might actually prefer Rocky a little bit better on the “newer” Rush material (post-1980/81), but on the really old stuff? Gimme Patty there.
@hammill4442 жыл бұрын
@@MrDuneedon She is indeed very good-- and a fine fit for Rush songs.. What I disagree with is your assertion that she channels Geddys vocal nuances better than Rocky. I completely disagree on that one.
@MrDuneedon2 жыл бұрын
@@hammill444 Fair enough, although I would disagree. I think she has a little bit more of the so-called “Geddy growl” that is prevalent in a lot of the earlier tunes. Again, I might actually prefer Rocky a bit insofar as the later stuff is concerned.
@905Alive2 жыл бұрын
@@MrDuneedon I'd say Rocky was more of a higher pitch early Geddy and Patty is more later Geddy while still hitting the early stuff, Patty is on another band currently Patty PerShayla & The Mayhaps and she was in Catch the Fish a Rush tribute where she sang and played bass and keys so she's very versed on Rush, there has been no official statement out of either camp why Rocky left but I'm assuming she is concentrating on her solo stuff I know she has/had an EP coming out about now and I think she acts too. After refreshing listens to both I have to give the nod to Patty, though she could use more power, it's all subjective.

I'm not bashing this band... but I just wish for once a snare drum would sound less overpowering. Im a drummer and have spent my time developing a live sounding snare with damping for loud rooms like this one. It only adds to the sound when the drums don't overpower everything else.

@@SirLionofBiff So pathetic, this campaign to disparage Rockys contributions. Reeks of damage control and retaliation. To disparage one and praise the other is ridiculous, given they are both singing so very closely to Geddy Lees timbre and range. Absolutely shameful

Wow. Incel Nation is well-represented on this thread! The comments section here practically screams cognitive dissonance regarding females, which is a hallmark of some of Rush's most ardent fans. This tends to lead to some serious pedestal worship of those females who embrace Rush for reasons all their own. Not so coldly charted, one can honestly say several things - Patty is amazing. Rocky is amazing. This band performs Rush material as well as (and in some cases, especially in their later years. better than) Rush, themselves. If the world discovers them and appreciates them because of their treatment of Rush material, and it leads them on to hearing their original material, then it is a victory. If they are known and recognized for no other reason than their Rush tribute, that is also a victory. The seats are full, and they generate enough cash to keep producing an excellent show. In my life, I have observed that the only people who ever bother to denigrate and belittle someone else's creative endeavours are those who have no such outlet, themselves. It is always an expression of bitterness, envy, and an outward projection of internal frustration.
