I realized after filming this that I never bled the cooling system before riding. That's probably why it was overheating. We have a lot of parts coming for this build to make it as fast as possible. Then We race the supercharged buggy!!! STAY TUNED!

Awesome job ! The yz 450 is my favorite engine. I’ve built quite a few, my son turned me on to them. I had always run 2 stroke 250z till I drove my sons 4 stroke 450 5 valves in that head to get the gas needed to feed that beast! It turns like a 2 stroke ! It won’t let you down!!!

So I'm a die hard Yamaha guy. Not sure what year that engine is but it looks like an old 5 valve engine which is good because the valves are titanium. The 4 valve engines are great but they won't make as much power as these are capable of. My dune queen is a 2003 yz450. I put a 505 big bore kit in it, weisco forged piston, ported and polished the head myself, did a custom grind on the cams, I run it on c16. She makes 73 hp at the rear wheel. It's an absolute monster. I've gotten her to 240-250° and I've never had any issues. They're by far and away the most reliable liquid cooled 450cc engine there is end of story. I've owned them all, honduuuh, ktm, kawisucki, Suzuki, and Yamaha won my heart because of the reliability. If you wanna get rid of the popping lash the valves. And ur gonna want to change that oil and the filter every 8 hours. Also look into a power now valve and a billet lectron carb.

Alright that looked like so much fun. I have a 1980 something Chenoweth that was powered by a VW and the plan is to repower it with something like a J32. Would love to do a manual setup. Right now I've got a couple other projects ahead of this one, like rebuilding a IH TD-6 and refurbing a DoAll bandsaw. I'm contemplating moving the engine up front on the Chenoweth and making it AWD. Either way watching you drive that gets me excited about my project as well. Thinking about doing a turbocharged J32 and running E85 because it's cheap and easy to get by me. Either way rear engine and 2wd or front engine and AWD it should be a hoot to drive when it's done.

The rad would be good in front, mounted with a little Slant with the fan only problem coolant hoses. You might have to some how engineer some cool air induction ports for radiator since it's in the rear. I just opened the video and the red was the first thing I noticed, in the fan are you pushing or pulling air and how does that work, maybe get a bigger radiator? I can see there's going to be overheating problems. The suspension looks really good

That thing is way to heavy for that engine. That is why people put street bike engines in them. You have double the weight that engine was designed to move. So, while the cart is really cool, that engine will fail very soon. They dont even last that many hours in the 200 pound dirtbike. Get you a used 4 cylinder street bike engine and put that in there. Then you can pull wheelies with your cart and not have to worry about hurting the engine. You will be a lot happier with the performance! Great fab work BTW!!

@@gmanlv1425oh, hey! I've seen your write up. That front end you put on it looks great! Do you still have it and was it worth it? I've been tempted by a motorcycle engine, but that might be a little much in it and I like reverse.

The front was worth it for sure. I don’t have the SV anymore, I have a single seat I built (copied front suspension to the SV) and a Joyner Trooper. I’m would stick with the Raptor motor. At the time it was easy to find bike motors cheap. I paid $350 for one and $500 for the other. Oh I run jack shafts so my final hearing is between 4.5-4.8. It’s equivalent to a 60+ tooth sprocket

Smaller wheels and tires(sport quad 10" wheels and 20-22" tires max) and 15-tooth front by 53, 59, 61, or 67-tooth rear for gearing and it should rip. The main point is picking a prime number for the rear sprocket tooth count, that way any amount of front teeth will work without repeating integers which could lead to more chain/tooth wear. If it were my build I'd also run a shorter wheelbase with the engine in front of the seat between my legs as the lowest point on the buggy for chain clearance between the seat and floor/skidplate, basically swapping rider and engine location, in a sense.
