Interesting video, it reminds me of the narrow gauge railway I rode from Kalka to Shimla. That railway doesn't have any zig zags like this one, and is slightly wider gauge.

Both are the Same gauge

@@witzendoz The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is 2 foot gauge, and the Kalka to Shimla Railway is 2 foot and six inch gauge and is thus wider.

This type of railway method of climbing hills is known as a switch back route to reduce the gradient of the climbing either up or down.

Ye train to angrej 100 baras pahle hi chalaa k chale gaye...76 saal me darjiiling se aage kitne km ka track banaya hum ne..? 1 km bhi extend nahi kiya... joginder nagar Ooty aaj bhi wo hi tracks no any extended...
