Watch how Dusty plays the shots in La Grange. He doesn't play right on the beat or just before it but instead waits until the last possible microsecond. This is one of the reasons why this 3 piece sounds so big. They SWING.
@jemogan2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Part of their full sound is that the drums and bass are barely off time with each other. Fantastic technique - deliberate but very hard to do on purpose. Playing slightly off beat is difficult..

Well, Elwood finally came around. He used to be pretty stiff, but I saw ZZ Top last Saturday and... he's starting to get better. They're starting to do the little synchronized movements dances again! The crowd would absolutely lose it. Just like they would've and did for Dusty.

How these guys manage to make "simple" songs sound so, so, so awesome and uniquely them is what I love about them. If you had ZZ Top play a single chord...it would sound like ZZ Top...not like anyone else playing the same chord.

Dusty was a big Elvis fan; he sang " I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" to his wife. What a guy. Before he played with ZZ Top, he played with Freddie King, in black clubs, when he was only 15 - he would go in with Freddie, and nobody would ask questions. It's a different world, now.

My friend said "yeah, what do you want?" to which Billy replied "Lets get a burger". They went thru the drive thru and right after they ordered Billy said"You got any money? I dont have any money." He said he got a good laugh out of that.

Make no mistake about it, Billy gets a great tone. This is a cell phone recording, so enough said about that. ZZ Top is a legendary band with a staggering body of work, particularly their early stuff. I'll be the first to admit that I don't like Franks drum sound anymore, but they're still amazing. In the seventies there wasn't a live act that could touch them, talk about thunder and precision. Kids today have no idea...

Loud and proud.Bill Ha m had it filmed,when the guys were young they really tore the roof of the joint.I'm getting old to, every body slows down.most impressive concert I ever seen,and being a Texas man it made me proud to be a rock and roller.if you younger fans want to see what all the fuss is about, start a Campaign to make it happen.And while I'm at it I saw the Robin Trower Bridge of Sighs tour don't know if there's any film but would be cool if there was.I've seen you tube clips of the Texas tour on KZbin,but the whole show from beginning to the end is what we want Right!.Make it happen and when it does make sure you have a kicking sub-woofer and the best weed,and a big screen t.v..I'm all set.I WANT TO THANK YOU
