This video shows you how to flip the cv joint on a z31 4 bolt axle. This is commonly done when putting 300zx axle into a 240z, 260z, or 280z.

Umm, I hate to break it to you, but the cage was already flipped. Once you flipped it, it protruded further out the bottom. The idea is to make the axle shorter. Perhaps previous owner had done it already.

Mark Nickel very good eye! We realized this after the video once we tried to install it. However since we had already filmed the video we decided to just put it back off camera. If it bugs you to much you can pay it in reverse and avoid our mistake haha

Thanks for the video. It gave me confidence to do this myself. However, I did spend the last 20 minutes researching why my cage was the opposite of yours. So maybe made things take longer? Hah idk. Thanks to your comment though you did note the mistake. So yes anyone else - this fella actually flipped the cage back to oem style. Nonetheless, process still same, just don’t get hung up that yours end goal would be the opposite of this video lol.

Interesting DIY, so what does this do?

When you install the adapter flanges for the S30 diff and use the 300zx axles they are a bit to long so you flip the cage to make the axle just a little bit shorter so it doesn’t bind up when hitting bumps.

When making a KZbin video is more important than being correct:(

Yea didnt realize until after making the video and trying to install them that they where already flipped. You are more than welcome to make a correction video on the subject and I will gladly tag it in the description!
