Z31 Ep 22 How to blow a fusible link and fix it

So mine doesn’t have the black clip. It’s just got two quick disconnectors where the black should be and it doesn’t to where yours does. They just connect together. Almost like a bypass, or a jumper wire or something.

hey man just got a 85 z31 and need to fix a few of the fusible links i was wondering if you had checked the guages of the old wires before using a 16g or does it not matter?

I did try to measure the gauge of the old wires. I ordered 14ga fusible link wire first but it looked too big when I got it so I went with 16. There is supposed to be like an amp value that the wire will hold based on thickness but I couldn’t find those exact specs so just went with something close

😮 all of them are blowing?? You’ll have to trace the wires they must be grounding out somewhere. The terminals on the battery aren’t reversed are they?

I got no power to ECU, could that fusible link you fixed be the issue?

it could be, im not sure which fusible link gives power to the ecu. if you have a digital multi meter you can set it to "continuity" or "ohm" and remove each fusible link and test them individually to rule that out as an issue

yes - fusable link kills all the engine power systems. When mine blew, the only thing still working was the headlights. Either test yours or replace it and you should be good, unless something else is shorted out which will cause the new fuse to blow

I installed the battery the wrong way and the fuses began to smoke and burn, going to solder everything like in the video. Hopefully everything works out
