Great video. This is gold man….I really want to keep my ac too

Thanks! I was able to keep the ac compressor but the belt is really close so I left it off. My ac never worked 😢 but with a little adjustment I think the belt will fit

I know you decided to keep your A/C, mines already been removed. Do you think it would be easier for me to relocate the turbo into the A/C area that way to avoid all the issues you run into with the wastegate and downpipe?

A/C compressor still mounted but A/C doesn’t work 😫😫 I mean it all has to be fabbed up no matter where it is. It wasn’t too bad I was just done waiting on ordered parts to show up and didn’t want to spend a lot more money so I just tried to use what I had. My blow by is so bad rn I want to swap in a used engine real quick just to keep it running while I fix up the engine in there now. I might try a different turbo but I kind of like it in the stock location.

@@samwashere1392 I hear you, it just seems really tight in stock location and I'm used to that with my previous Subarus. Moving it should give me more turbo options as well. I did see the blow by issure you are having. Mines blowing oil too but hopefully it will get solved with the rebuild. Are your plans to overbore? Seems unlikely the rings would have given out so soon

@@Filthy_Goblin_44 it is real tight down there. Would be cool to see the turbo and like you said have some different options..could mount external wastegate to relocation pipe.. I’m 99% sure the ring lands are cracked. Ring gap was a little on the wide side like .019 I think. But could be a few things: I dropped one of the pistons on the top corner during disassembly, I’m pretty sure it was #2…could have damaged the piston/ring lands like that. I could have just messed something up when going back together (heads were not properly cleaned after Bering failed either 😬 Or I could have just had crazy timing and been super lean when I was trying to learn how to tune for the first time 😂🤷🏻♂️

@@samwashere1392 wow that was your first time tuning! Any tips? I plan on going microsquirt but I would guess the idea is the same as nistune. I've never done a standalone ECU either but feel it would be better long term

@@Filthy_Goblin_44 ya my though was I could look at different factory base maps and use nistunes instructions on their site so I could get a basic understanding of how it works. I’d like to go stand-alone just didn’t have the time or money to wait on it. And have to build custom harness. I’m not sure what is available as far as a base tune it micro squirt. I would be a little hesitant trying to build a full custom tune from scratch. I think you can use the software “tuner studio” for micro squirt which works for other standalones as well I believe.
