Gr8 vid, mark. Kudos on your cleaning, wow, u went further than I normally would. I normally use liquid dish soap, it's very soft for the m/c, but strong enough 2 rid oil and dirt. I recommend finishing or polishing engine bay area (and anything metal) with wd40, including rims. I even treat most of my lower black plastic parts/covers with wd40, but the tank and upper plastic parts/covers with bike polishing spray (bcuz they r shinny). Anyway, ride safe, god bless u.

Thank you for those top tips, that's what this is all about. I'll bear those in mind next time the cleaning rags come out.

Hi enjoyed watching this I'm a bit of a clean freak too and a fan of kerosene and wd40 especially wiping around the rear of bike to remove tar spots I watched your other video on the front pipes I had baked on tar on them and the front of the engine with multiple soakings and scrubbing with my chain cleaning brush and some fine wire wool got the tar of the pipes finish them of with autosol have a cbf600 also in black ,oh get the orange gloves a little bit more expensive but last lots longer as I'm a mechanic by trade ,ride safe bruuummm bruuummm 👌👌🏍🏍

Might have to do a part 2 on pipes, I've been given so many top tips about cleaning them. Good one about the gloves - I'll add that to the list, every day's a school day!

About rear caliper when putting rear wheel back on.... If piston is (relatively) clean, before taking caliper off, squeeze it to expand brake pads/contract piston into caliper. No need to take them out when reinstalling rear wheel. Same goes to front calipers when taking front wheel off/on. Btw, those aluminium blocks on rear axle = Chain adjustment blocks.

Ah, 'Chain Adjustment Blocks'. I probably could have guessed that if I applied some brain - thank you. Also a good tip about squeezing the pads in, again thank you.

Definitely worth a check under the fuel tank, noticed a bit of what looks like surface corrosion underneath mine
@bikerevz2 жыл бұрын
Ah damn it, I just took all the front fairing off and didn't think to go under the tank. Might have to do a part 3 now. Thank you for the tip, much appreciated.

Amazing work there Mark, looking forward to Part 2 already. BTW, I have the z900 in the same color scheme in India.
@bikerevz2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I reckon it's the best colour scheme. Thank you for the comments.

Unless I'm mistaken you're Z900 is the model year with the Matte black paint finish right? You mentioned waxing it and I'm curious on whether you're happy with the new found gloss of the paint as waxing Matte paint would polish the surface.
@bikerevz Жыл бұрын
Waxing gives the matt black a great finish. I'm not T-cutting or polishing just putting a light coat of wax on.

Hi Mark, do you have any idea where I can get hold of that plastic rivet on the hugger, iv snapped mine 😳 😀
@bikerevz2 жыл бұрын
I put 'plastic bike fairing rivets' into Google and got a whole load of results, mainly from ebay. Good luck!
