Logic ''reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity.'' that inner derail er as you describe it is meant to protect the engine cases in case of a chain failure .Early Japanese 4 cylinder bike if they had a chain failure would punch a hole through the engine case , but keep in mind the quality of the chains that were available then were sub standard to the ones you can purchase today .This all lead to routine maintenance .Don't take the risk with worn out parts.

I was thinking about gearing my bike in the opposite direction. Was thinking about putting a 14 tooth sprocket on the front. Always thought the gearing was too tall.

If the bike is to remain at stock power, I can see where a 14/2 sprocket may make the bike a bit more lively. But with the modifications that are done to this motorcycle the power by as much as they did first and second gear became practically useless

Interessante lavoro di modifica, Lo facevo sui motorini, quando ero ragazzino. Però, secondo me, la velocità la Kawasaki Z900RS La rileva sull’albero in uscita del pignone non sulla ruota. Quindi, secondo me, aggiungendo un dente opinione, ti segnerà una velocità inferiore rispetto a prima, a parità di numero di giri, anche se in realtà stai andando più forte. Questo perché Il pignoneavrà un rapporto di rotazione rispetto alla ruota posteriore diverso, cioè girerà più lentamente a parità di strada percorsa.

Hi, I'm curious why did you want to do that. As I understand after that you have more torque and less top speed, right?

No. I went up in teeth on the front sprocket, not down. Better manners under hard acceleration in first gear, more top speed in 5th gear with a more usable 6th gear at highway speeds

@@bmasontv ah, indeed, thanks for showing the process and the part number. I was thinking about the gearing been a bit short but I thought if I change the sprocket the speedometer will be affected.

@@Ringer1982 speedometer will be unaffected because the speed is picked up with the wheel speed sensor and not an output shaft sensor

I changed to a 16T on my Z900 RS recently.. The new sprocket doesn't have the rubber or plastic ring like the stock sprocket. I don't suppose that makes any difference does it?
