Now there are 7 songs which have almost made me cry. Before watching this video, it was 6. Brilliantly done, Mr. Zinger.

This Zac's arrangement was performed by Dozan Fujiwara and his folks at Japanese music TV show "Daimei no nai Ongakukai" on 2021Jan23rd. Hope Zac Zinger appear as performer on this program near future!

Hey man ! I'm blown away by the phrasings y'all shakuhachi players can work out. I was wondering if you had any experience with Irish music ? I always saw similarities between jazz session and irish sessions (reprising of themes to reinterpret them in a collective setting) and I'm always on the hunt to find the next jazz/irish project, as I think both worlds have something to inspire each other. The Ollam, a michigan based band is close to my heart in this way and I always imagined your shakuhachi or sax having a place in these melodies. Anyway, thank you again for your music, Zac, it is always a joy bringing treat.

Thanks! I don’t know much about Irish music, but some of the ornamentations used in traditional shakuhachi playing do seem to have similar techniques on Irish flute. Check out Philip Horan, he’s explored this combination much more deeply!

It’s like Irish sounding. Also, you need to cover Fi’s theme from Zelda.

I've been curious to try one of these. How do you find their responsiveness? Do they play like shakuhachi? The timbre seems much brighter and purer, clearer, but less interesting in a way...
@zingerzmusic4 жыл бұрын
It is a shakuhachi, so yes it plays like one. The design is that of Senshu's which means bigger holes and a modern cut utaguchi with a flared bell. I have one of those in bamboo, so compared to that the Katana plays very similarly. There might be a clearer tone depending on the player, but there is a noticeably better response in the extremes of the third octave (see 3:13).

Ha, this aluminum is probably better for fire breathing than the bamboo too.
