It'll be fine by dusk light I'm telling you baby,
These things eat at your bones and drive your young mind crazy,
But when you place your head between my collar and jaw,
I don't know much but there's no weight at all,
And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't,
'Cause if I say I miss you I know that you won't,
But I miss you in the mornings when I see the sun,
Something in the orange tells me we're not done,
To you I'm just a man, to me you're all I am,
Where the hell am I 'supposed to go?
I poisoned myself again,
Something in the orange tells me you're never coming home,
If you leave today I’ll just stare at the way,
The orange touches all things around,
The grass trees and dew, how I just hate you,
Please turn those headlights around,
I need to hear you say you've been waitin' all night,
There’s orange dancing in your eyes from bulb light,
Your voice only trembles when you try to speak,
Take me back to us dancing this wood used to creak,
To you I'm just a man, to me you're all I am,
Where the hell am I 'supposed to go?
I poisoned myself again,
Something in the orange tells me you're never coming home,
If you leave today I’ll just stare at the way,
The orange touches all things around,
The grass trees and dew, how I just hate you,
Please turn those headlights around,
To you I'm just a man, to me you're all I am,
Where the hell am I 'supposed to go?
I poisoned myself again,
Something in the orange tells me you're never coming home,
If you leave today I’ll just stare at the way,
The orange touches all things around,
The grass trees and dew, how I just hate you,
Please turn those headlights around,
Please turn those headlights around.

Been listening to this guy on youtube for years. Today I had to drive my best friend (my dog) to the vet to say his final goodbye and this song came on the radio. You made it man. You finally made it. Last song my Frankie boy ever heard. He always loved just laying out in the sun and basking. Now everytime I see the sun's orange hue across the sky I'll think of my buddy. "But I miss you in the mornings when I see the sun."

Damn man, I know the feeling! Sorry for the loss! He's was a part of your life, but you were probably his whole life, something to be said on that. A constant companion. No matter how bad your day, your feelings, etc.., a dog will never have a day in his life that he isn't happy to see you. My boy Blu brings tears to my eyes everytime I think about the day I have to make this trip with him. Be well my friend.

My son introduced me to Zach's music a few years ago. He put Old Man on his radio in his truck on a surf trip. He said "this song reminds me of you, dad". I lost my son Joshua tragically this July. My daughter was able to recover his songs from his Spotify playlist. This song was on there. It played at his funeral. I'm grateful for your music Zach. Glad to hear you on the radio nowadays. Last December was my absolute rock bottom. Exactly 1 year ago was heading home from Durant Oklahoma to Dallas Tx, making my weekly trip to pick up Methamphetamine. This song came on and instantly opened my eyes to how bad my addiction had gotten. I lost my Dad about a month and a half ago. After our first Church service without my dad, on the way home, this song came on and enveloped the whole car in complex emotions that I don't I've yet come to understand. Just as the song ended my mom who has been an absolute rock; broke down in tears as we pulled into the driveway and parked next to my Dad's beloved Acura that he didn't have the heart to get rid of. I can't explain it but I can feel a lot of my dad when I listen to this song. All in all, it is very ironic since my brother and I were trying to get him into country music right before he passed. That classic rock lover is up in heaven somewhere making all the greats laugh with his jokes. Zac, thank you for this song, it is a hard one to listen to but it is damn beautiful and I'm sure my dad would have enjoyed it. RIP Pops

I think his songs remind us of a time when things felt slower. When days lasted longer and were spent with friends, family, or alone. When days and nights weren't consumed by screens and constant media grabbing at our attention. Even his videos show this, just people living in the moment with their friends, pets, family, etc... In this hyper-digital world it is nice to come across an artist who isn't overproduced, and a voice that reminds us of the old days. Put his music on and spend an afternoon with your kids, go for a drive with a view, play with your dog in the yard, or just lie in bed with your lover.

Grew up tough around violence and started working at the age of 8. My skin got thick and i ended up having a hard time crying, never been much for crying. Lost both my parents last year and have to take care of my little sister now. Your song brought me to tears, so thankyou for that cause i started to think i had lost my soul. Turns out i just need to let it shine through the rough edges i've built throughout my life.

@@shawnmurphy4814 im on my laptop so i did hug myself from you while i was still reading. and crying. i used to beg god to give him back in any form just as long as it was his soul. i figured if he is real then he can do this. but i believe in the universe and that has a scientific assurance that our energies will connect again though it may not be a conscious connection. i struggle a lot with accepting that he has just disappeared and with my bf 18 days before and then 11 months after my daughters father also died. the three best people ive ever known. and left all of us that arent the gifts they were. i want him back. i dont mean to sound like a bad person but i would if i had to kill the next 5 people i see to get him back. 100 people. any amount is still not worth him. he taught me that love exists in a form that most people will unfortunately never know. i thought i knew what love was. but its magic and if you dont feel like you could live under a bridge with your love and be content no matter the temp or bugs or dirt then they havent experienced real love yet. which is loyal and kind and selfless and adoring and secure and trustworthy and honest and better than any drug could ever make one feel. i was 39 before i knew love and now i know without a doubt that is the purpose of life. but its a gift not a given. im pretty sure that karma has a hand in it too. if you are a kind soul unconditionally then you are worthy of the priceless gift, the whats that called that stupid cup that a religion has made up with a not at all believable fantasy story line. love which is real can be ones reality but i do believe that you have to be worthy bc bad people do not deserve such a thing but i dont see how a bad person could comprehend even the idea much less an authentic act of show. sorry i guess i rambled. sorry

I'd almost bet I've listened to this 1500 times, honestly I can't get enough. I've made the effort to comment, but cannot make the commitment. Fell in love with my wife 23 years ago we had all of this. I used to cowboy, and stir the dirt. But to make ends meet I jumped in a big rig. Now I see the sun every morning, greet the sunset every night. I manage to pay the bills every month, barely. I skip some meals but I get it done. Alone. While this breaks my heart it reminds me of a time when life was a dream. Thank you for this, it's my biography. Although at this point we still have a roof, heat, and acreage. It gets harder every day to hold on to this life. My wife and son may hate me but I hold on for them. Honestly though after 23 years there's no weight at all... thank you

This song describes perfectly the way I’m feeling about someone I loved deeply but has moved on from me. I wasn’t the best in our relationship and one day she had enough. She wanted to try to remain as friends but I couldn’t reduce my feelings to her to just that. I thought she was the one. I decided to go no contact the last month. It hurts. Now I wake up every morning thinking about her. Hoping she will change her mind but I know deep down she won’t. I am grateful for the memories. Thank you for sharing this beautiful song and piece of art with the world.

Heard this song for the first time, in th back of a police car. On my way to jail, after losing my children, wife and everything else due to addiction. I made the officer replay it 3 times, as it made me cry how much it hit home. I was lost, hurt, broken and it was all my fault. Fast foward 2 years and I'm clean, have it all back and am a better man than I could have ever imagined being. This song, will forever be a reminder of the good, bad, and ugly. But more importantly, the story of a man who lost it all and changed to get the things he loved most back. Thank you GOD, through YOU ANYTHING is POSSIBLE.

This song has helped me get over the most traumatic heartbreak I’ve ever experienced. There’s nothing like your first love and for me it lasted for almost 10 years from teens to young adulthood.I hope to love someone so deeply again but I fear that will never happen. I’m just so grateful I was able to experience such a beautiful and blessed moment in life. I dream about her constantly even though she ripped my heart out. I tip my hat to you romantics that have endured this crippling heartbreak and continue to pursue life and love. It’s not easy. God bless and I hope y’all find someone to cherish until your dying days.

your comment strikes me as i have endured the same. high school love that lasted well into my late 20's. There's no shortcut to ease your mind. time will and does heal. you will never forget but i promise you that one day there will be another that will hold you and never want to let you go. someone that will cherish you the same as you cherish them. best advice is go out there and get what is yours- kick lifes ass and take no prisoners. Immerse yourself in your work, your family and the hobbies which you love. be the best version of you doing those things and soon enough you will begin to love yourself so much that the memories will not bring pain, but a smile to you face knowing this person missed out on one badass dude. best of luck my dude and keep your head up. ps check out ben howard.

I think most go through something like this, it is the refiners fire. You look back and never forget about them, they hold a piece of your heart but when you find another that smiles back at you the way you smile at them and then see the children you make together there is no turning back. Time does in fact heal wounds, just move forward brother, and you too Amber.

@Jessie the way I'm receiving it, the "in the orange" line is just a metaphor for something we don't know or really understand or just a "gut feeling" so saying "something in the orange tells me you're not coming home" would be like saying I just have a deep feeling you're not coming home. In the sense that I lost a great woman and I have a gut feeling she's never coming home.

I’m sorry for your loss. My pupper is just starting to get into her senior years and I cherish every single minute she’s still here with me. We go everywhere together and do everything together and I just know that when her little time comes to travel into her next life i know somehow someway she will find me and let me know everything is gonna be ok. I saved her once from having a horrible life and I gave her the best life any puppy could have because I don’t know if she realizes it but she saved me from cutting my life short. My depression ran so deep inside to where numbing all the pain with substances stopped working, but one day I found myself in a drug house and this little beautiful pup ran up to me and wouldnt leave my side. The owner called her annoying and 😢said take her if u want her. I woke up the next morning hung over on the floor of My living room with this little angel sleeping next to my head. That day I promised to give her the best life ever and since that day i became a better human and person to myself because of her. Thank u

All her children and the majority of grandchildren and great grandchildren were there as she passed. My family said she waited for me to get there before passing. I got to spend about 2 hours with her and she died during a sunset. Earily, she passed within minutes of the time of day that I was born.
