I have brain cancer and had a a massive stroke when they removed my first tumor leaving me permanently disabled, I then met my now husband who is also a stroke survivor and also has a birth defect/limb difference. We are a hot mess, but perfect for each other and have a beautiful love. Most people were supportive of our marriage, but there were a few sideways glances, we just ignored them.

I appreciate you having this conversation. As a female with physical disability that has been in a relationship for 25 years, it's always been difficult and you spoke gospel when you said we already have to overcompensate to outshine the physical appearance. Especially for a girl. Especially within social circles and work. Much love to you and your family. 😊

Something you touched on Tori resonated with me and I echo your sentiments. I almost wrote off my now husband when we first met because of his height (we’re actually the exact same height but I was used to dating taller guys). 27 beautiful years and 2 kids later, I think about that one brief moment and how I could have easily missed out on something amazing for such a truly meaningless reason. Obviously not the same as your experience, but it is something I have reflected on over time and completely agree with you on. This was a great episode and I thank you both for sharing it with us!

I just hope both of you realize how special you are as a couple and as two intelligent people speaking out to the rest of the country about your life and how you manage each step along the way. You are both great examples of what married couples should be and parents to very lucky children.. You both communicate well with each other and work out your problems, which is usually the number one reason couples do not stay together and fight all the time. Thank you again for being you.❤❤❤❤❤

I just watched your series on TV for the FIRST time. I think your family is amazing, strong, smart, and able. We all have family issues, I certainly do. Early in the series I no longer saw Zach as disabled, only as short. Same with your relationship of each other. Very soon I stopped seeing the difference because your minds and souls blend so beautifully. You have a respect for each other, your children included, that so many families are lacking. Well done! Good luck in your run Tori.

I’m a 5’6” mom and my son’s dad is 5’10”. He is 5’3” and was in the 5th percentile from birth. He is 34 now. My father was 6’3” and my brother is 6’5”. Height was a big deal in my family. But I worried but guess what? The world doesn’t care so I found out! There are places for EVERY HEIGHT! He ended up being a coxswain in his crew team and was successful in life. There was nothing to worry about. He is married now owns his own business has passions in life that is alllll that matters. My son was able to achieve satisfaction in his life and height just wasn’t an issue. Love and support is what babies need!

I grew up with a dad that became a quadriplegic over time. Some would call that a disability. I grew up caring for him. Feeding him, changing him, bathing him... all of that. Love hearing you two laugh together. Great show, very thought provoking. One of the harshest realities for me growing up is that life is not fair. No matter who you are. Yet I was raised with adults around me seeking to make everything “fair.” Long term this can create expectations that are too high & contribute to entitlement & a possibly controlling nature.

This has been my fav. episode, particularly your last topic. My son relies on a wheelchair for mobility and there are not too many young kids in that situation. A lot of learning on how to navigate inclusion! He has a magnetic personality which draws people to him. He is 17 now, but when he was in grade 5/6 many of his friends fell away, because many kids are more concerned about out how they look and who they associate with. His friends through high school have been kids who are mature and GET IT! And while that was hard to watch back then, it had to happen naturally. Your children will attract those with good character and the test of time will tell who those friends are. My son’s favourite thing to do is play on an adult wheelchair rugby team and the people he plays with are of exceptional character. It is amazing to see! Trying hard to step back and let life happen!

You both are so amazing as a couple and as individuals. I am so happy that you have a podcast. I learn a lot about topics I am not very familiar with and it teaches me something new all the time. Stay blessed you two.
