I don't think Ariana had music that was special enough before Sweetener to win a Grammy - the only thing I'd say she could have won for is Best Pop Vocal Performance. The reason why I say that about Sweetener is, as an album, it was more Ari and more interesting and it wasn't designed to be full of bangers. Thank u, next though - I think this new era is her best, like she has really found herself. But if you want to look at who should have won a Grammy already, look at Lana del Rey - only 4 Grammy nominations. And ALL her albums are so beautiful and powerful and haunting.

took her "so long"? her earliest eligibility for a grammy would be 2013. 5/6 years is not long at all. there are artists who have been in the industry for 25+ years who haven't won one yet. ariana's win was early compared to a lot of other artists.

A LOT of good and successful songs/albums don't have a Grammy or don't even got a nomination. it's a tough competition. for example this years Grammys..there were a lot of people who got a Grammy were i was like "WTF is this ?! Ariana's voice is so calming and sweet and kind of Disney. Apparently one of the things a psychic picks up on (a genuine one) is the sound of your voice because it can tell you about your mental state and energy. People have often said I had a soothing voice, around the time that I was doing a lot of self care, and yet in recent months where I've become more anxious I do genuinely think I'm louder and more hyper when I talk. My voice still has a musical note in it but I do think our voices are the sound of our souls and in our eyes you can see something of the soul - whether it's cloudy or there's a sparkle. Ariana has actually humbled so much since she stated her career. Looking back at interviews from a couple years ago, she seemed up more in the clouds, and now she seems much more grounded and grateful for herself. She’s not trying to use that fake voice anymore, and she’s becoming a better person. In a crazy way I think after all the trauma that happened to her these past two years really humbled her greatly.
