I too, carry an EDC repair/maintenance kit in my EDC kit. Do I use it frequently? Definitely not. Like what you said, I usually take care of my gear already and do maintenance at home whenever there is a problem. However, you never know what can happen when you're out and about, so it's always good to have a way to repair your gear on the go. I too, am the "knife guy" to family, friends, and coworkers and have utilized the kit during work to help fix my coworkers' knives before! Great video as always Zac!

Cool stuff. I have no use at work (office) for any serious tools, big knives, etc. I always found the Altoid tin prepper approach (plus a decent pocket knife and various keychain tools) good to minimalize what I might truly need. I have 1 or 2 Altoid tins with me at any given time. Aside from that, a go bag is always in the car for the serious gear and I have a smaller daily carry backpack for travelling with prepper tins and whatever self defense gear I am allowed to have in that location.

12:24 I like to carry some air-activated hand warmers, they're a lifesaver in cold weather. I can also put them in my socks if I get really cold feet. Alternatively you can also carry a gel-pad that you can put it in the microwave, and you have something to warm yourself after being out in the cold.

I work for a local council, so first aid training/refresher and update is once a year. I’ve never had to sharpen a knife when out since my army days, when we could be out for 4 weeks at a time, in civvy street, I don’t abuse a blade and can mostly go years with only a strop keeping the blade sharp.

Those waterproof covers usually have a loop to keep them attached to a strap or such. I tend to leave them attached to the outside, stuffed in a pocket or such. Then it’s a lot quicker and convenient to cover the sack should it start raining, rather than having to stop and search through the backpack for it.

Good for you for carrying Narcan. I witnessed a terrible incident on a plane where a dude would’ve died had an ER doctor not been on board and knew to use it (took several plane FAKs to find one). Really hope you never need it!

I've been using the Osprey Hikelite 26 for a while now, and it's been really good. Personally, I was looking for a bag with a mesh suspension system to keep my back cool, I swest a lot even when it's cold out. The main use that I use it for is carrying food, water, and first aid supplies for my dogs when we are out walking or adventuring.

Man I need to up my EDC a little. I only carry a knife, it’s been a Spyderco Bodacious lately, a flashlight, a Reylight ti pineapple, and my pew pew. That’s it. Couple of things I probably should add, like some form of a multitool, but I just don’t like carrying those in the pocket or on a belt 🤷🏻‍♂️. I forgot about my big idea pen, and an automatic watch.

I don’t carry a “edc repair kit” specifically. But I have the Big I Design bit bar inline max, and the leatherman bit kit in my stuff and I have used that for tightening a pocket clip, adjusting a pivot, etc

I tried to minimize my edc further and further and carry only a helikon tex E&E pouch with a shoulder strap from Amazon for a bit I er a week now, but I sacrifice space for minimal gear. Definitely love something that contracts and expands. My experience is that you usually have to spend some real money to land a good bag. I lucked out with this Osprey back in the day but I’ve spent plenty over the years. Good luck on your quest!

I actually found that if i do take my spydercos apart to polish the washers on my strop that it does actually make a very big difference in overall action and feel..... but i also love tinkering... and high quality tools...as a finish carpenter... tools have always been important to me.....especially good quality tools!!!

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I may make a video showing the Gossamer Gear 23L Vagabond Trail I've been using for years. It's no longer made but I use it everyday for work. Used it for lightweight backpacking, fishing, hiking, and just about everything. I love my GORUCK GR1; it has a bunch of the things you love, and some other things that I love. I don't love the price anymore, as theyve gone up. Substantially. Bags aren’t their bread and butter, but my Roark Passenger 2.0 backpack has been incredible for office and light travel! They have a couple bag options that add more modular storage as well. Cool brand and my bag looks almost as good as new after a couple years of taking it everywhere!

besides normal first aid stuff....i carry around narcan and a epi pen as well...... yes it's a sad truth... but the fact that we could potentially save a life....is awesome.. in fact now they recommend we carry at least 2 separate narcans.....i guess sometimes 1 isn't enough!!!!

Great question! I realized I had left it at the house on the day of the shoot so I just rolled without it. I have an Owala. It’s great because you can pour from it and use the straw in the same set up. It is a wide bottle though so it doesn’t fit in most car cupholders.

Anyone looking for a cheap and reliable bag I highly recommend the Venture Pal bags. I use mine daily for college and then convert it to a hiking/camping bag when I need it. It’s water resistant and has TONS of storage capacity.
