I did think as soon as I saw images of a shine I immediately thought "well this would be police evidence, and here we have a Detective joining the cast" so I instantly suspected Bailey based on this alone. It just makes sense right? So I disagree with you saying, You don't need to be a cop to get items restricted and stored in police evidence, you just need to have money. Who do you know that has bought items connected to a bloody murder spree, simply because he/she had money? I really can't see that happening. But have you heard of anyone doing that? Jack Champion playing the Ghostface in the apartment scene is another reason why I think it's Ethan even though the stunt actor doesn't really determine who's behind the mask.

I don’t think Quinn’s phone call is a plot hole. She says “yeah I know she’s my roommate but you’re like… the police”, and then Quinn says “she’s really freaked out and paranoid”. I think it’s very plausible that this conversation isn’t “fake” it sounds like it could be Quinn and Wayne talking about strategies of getting after Sam / how they are gonna approach the rest of their plan. Nothing she actually says implies she is having a fake convo

The whole “DNA in the masks” thing can be applied to all the films. Billy and Stu planned to frame Neil, but the cops would’ve found their DNA in the masks, not Neil’s. Same thing with Scream 3 & 4

I feel that Ethan helping Mindy was actually a smart play on his part. Cameras would reveal that they were together/he got on the subway with her. Not to mention anyone else in the car could place them together if asked by the police. All it would take was one bystander telling an officer “yeah, there was a guy with her but he left without her” to reveal Ethan as a killer and from there an easy connection to Bailey and Quinn as I can’t imagine it would take too much digging to find out they’re all related

If I were to guess, I would assume that Ethan’s false alibi for the apartment attack worked because students actually at the lecture or whatever wouldn’t actually be very reliable witnesses. Ethan’s appearance is very generic and unassuming, he has an average build, he wears plain clothes, he has a fairly common haircut, and he doesn’t really have any particularly distinguishing features. As someone who had evening classes in college, I can tell you, that was when my apathy was at its peak. If you asked me if a particular student was in that class the next day, by name or with a picture, my response would be “uh, yeah, I think so.”, “Uh, probably?”, “Maybe? I don’t remember.”, or “I don’t know, I wasn’t paying attention.” And I imagine that would be the kind of response Chad and Mindy would’ve gotten from whoever they asked “Did you see this generic white boy at your economics class last night?” Somewhere in the range of yes to maybe.

I'm teaching a university class of 25 this term, and it took me probably 3 weeks to really be able to tell apart the 5 tall white guys with brown wavy/curly hair in my class. If Mindy survived the stabbing with Ethan’s intervention I honestly think it would have increased her suspicions even more. It’s common knowledge that there’s typically more than one killer. Yeah Ethan was clearly not the one who stabbed her but her main suspect suddenly disappears after she’s been attacked even though he was staring at her for most the train journey so surely couldn’t have missed her collapsed body? I think of Ethan saving her as damage control.

I will say, I don't think Ethan saving Mindy on the subway was that bizarre. Remember, he was in public and saw her injured on the train. It would have looked suspicious (or at least he may have thought it would look suspicious) if he just walked away from a body he very obviously saw. On top of that, if she had survived the attack, his only option to maintain his innocence would be to save her, since if she'd seen him walk away, she absolutely would have called him out on it to the others. And it's not like he could have finished the job when he saw that Quinn hadn't due to the public view.

Is it possible that Quinn's phone call does have two purposes? 1) as someone pointed out, could be for Danny's benefit- a witness to her "death" 2) the others are outside the room and her boyfriend is in the bathroom...she couldn't risk just outright saying the plan. Just in case they walked in.

The way I see Ethan's alibi is that he said he was at econ, but he didn't say when or how long he was there. I think it's like how at the beginning of the first film, both Billy and Stu's alibis were "I was at my girlfriend's house." Ethan probably did go to the study hall, but still had time to be Ghostface.

I did once think Bailey killed Dr. Stone, only because I thought it was questionable why he changed his clothes. If it's the same day, (which it is), that means in between questioning Sam and Tara at the station, and presenting Kirby with the mask found at the Dr. Stone crime scene, he changed his attire.

That is such a good catch, I legit would've never noticed.. I liked the idea of them each having their own day to kill, but I just can't fathom Ethan being strong enough to smash through the window, or at least knowing where to hit it to make it smash.. The only thing that makes it unlikely to be Bailey is the timeframe, but it was a relatively quick kill, and snatch of documents, and he would likely need to change his clothes from blood getting through the Ghostface costume Edit: or even change his clothes from sweating on that jog to the Dr's house

Here’s how I fix the Quinn phone call to Wayne scene: (you know, with the three killers) Have Wayne call Quinn with Kirby in the same room as him, and Wayne would tell Quinn that he is on speaker with Kirby so Quinn would have to put on her fake act to Kirby while Ghostface would be in the same room as her, does that fix it?

I think Ethan went to help Mindy to get her phone away from her. Later in the movie Mindy's friends try to call her and she doesn't pick up. I think if her phone was on her, the hospital stuff would pick up. Worried gang would rush to the hospital and the plan to finish the kills in the shrine would be a no go. It was also an opportunity for Ethan to build himself an alibi. He tried to save Mindy so he couldn't be the killer. On the contrary, if someone realised or witnessed Ethan, just leaving Mindy in the metro, the suspicion would fall on him. I know It's a metro. but It's possible during the investigation that they would find witnesses that could incriminate Ethan. I disagree that Ethan would be incriminated if he left Mindy after the help arrived. He could easily make an excuse that he went to the gang to warn them and his phone died or something. Since Mindy got help, he felt he was free to go. Mindy is not a cop either so a small excuse like that would make her unable to prove anything even if she believed Ethan was the killer.

I will say regarding the scene with Quinn on the phone, whether you interpret it as her ignoring Ethan or as her genuinely not knowing he’s there, that is the most sibling like behavior from them in the whole movie. Like if she’s purposefully ignoring him to talk to their dad, my older sibling has 1000% done that to me. And if he’s sneaking up on her to spook her a bit I’ve also done that to a sibling. I know we want to think of them as being completely calculated at all times but this is also the first time ghostface has been played by a family, so sometimes the nonsensical behavior can be explained by the fact that siblings will do the weirdest stuff just to mess with each other. Obviously that can feel like a bit of a copout, but anybody who has a sibling can attest to the fact that sometimes you will just stand there behind them for the longest time waiting for them to turn around just to see if you can get them to jump a bit.

I have a hard time believing that the person who killed Dr. Stone was anyone but Detective Bailey,. I mean, minus the fact that the killer was able to punch through the door with ease, Bailey just interrogated both Sam and Tara and was given information from Sam about who her therapist was. Considering that the station is closer to the therapy office than the apartment Quinn may be at, it could insinuate that Bailey DID have the time to make it to the office. Ethan probably couldn't have left his dorm room around this kill or else Chad would have noticed the timing of the therapist's kill and Ethan's departure.

Ethan’s Econ alibi is NOT airtight. Unless he has a friend or acquaintance he sits with, no one in that lecture is going to notice whether he’s there or not. On another note, Radio Silence did an interview with Dead Meat where they straight up say that they don't give different directions to the Ghostface stunt performer based on who it is under the mask, so I also hesitated to assume the Ghostface at the bodega was Bailey purely based on the way he used the shotgun. But I imagine the specific attacks (like the quick abdomen stabs) can still be used to judge since that has to be decided way beforehand by a bunch of people, not just by the stunt performer

Hey Zack, I just wanted to point out that Anika was stabbed by the killer using their left hand and since Wayne uses his right hand this should prove that Ethan killed Anika as he does use his left hand a couple of times in the shrine.

Regarding the whole “Wayne isn’t a cop” thing. I think that Wayne technically was a detective way before Scream 6. Only thing is that he most likely snapped once he heard about Richie’s death, even managing his other kids, Quinn, and Ethan, to get involved in his plan to get revenge against the Carpenters, and anyone else involved with Richie’s death. If he was former military, then he may have applied for a position as a detective months before Scream 6 took place, and managed to get the job, or if he was a criminal, there would have been extra steps to get his former ego, the Kirsch ego, wiped. I think either the “he snapped while still being a detective”, or “he was former military” are most likely the valid options for the whole Wayne stuff.

For a reply so that I can list reasons who I think were the Ghostfaces - Wayne was most likely the only one who was able to get Jason, and Greg, as I feel like Quinn, and Ethan had solid alibis for if they were interrogated - I agree that Quinn was most likely the caller, but to make the call, she went into a different room (maybe her bedroom), while also Wayne could also be the one that did the bodega attack. Only way I could see that Wayne was the Ghostface there was that he could have been let go to go back to the station to talk to Tara, and Sam, but he managed to get a lucky break during the few minutes - Wayne could have been the one that killed the psychologist, as Quinn, and Ethan could have been at Mindy’s “franchise” talk during that kill - With the apartment, it most likely would have been Ethan. I think Ethan was able to kill Paul 2.0, and convincingly “kill” his sister, while also killing Anika at the same time. I also have a feeling that Ethan got out of Econ early - The rest was definitely Quinn, but main thing is that she would have had to try to avoid being spotted in public due to her veing declared dead, but I agree that Wayne was probably the one who calls Gale first - I think the reason for Ethan helping Mindy was so that he could have got off her bad lists, although I think that Mindy may have been thinking about the logic as well in the hospital, so… - Thankfully, the attacks at the theatre is definitely easier to know whom were being Ghostface there before Wayne shows up. I think Quinn was Ghostface Number 1, and then Ethan was Ghostface Number 2 (although I think I heard Jack Champion’s voice during the bloopers for that scene, so he could have been under the mask again there, but idek, Quinn most likely got away after the subway attack first)

I agree with most of the video. However, I had always thought the person who called Sam and Tara before the bodega attack was Wayne, because whoever was on the phone tells the they would punish them. Which is exactly the same thing wayne tells them while they are at the shrine. first phonecall extract:" I'm going to punish you, Sam!" Extract from the shrine. Wayne:"You had to be punished!!". Besides, this caller takes credit for killing Jason and Greg, which we can agree is Wayne. Overall, great work, keep it up!!

Okay, I have a couple comments 1 When Bailey is interrogating Sam and Tara, he says that the previous detective gave him the case because it "affected Quinn" but imo it didn't affect Quinn at all (at least not directly) also 2 during the same interrogation when Bailey asks about their friends, they mention Ethan right after Quinn and Bailey only mentions that he can vouch for Quinn. Now I know, he's not supposed to be related to Ethan so it may seem inconsequential but it seems like Ethan is overlooked a LOT by his father. When talking about his kids in the fight scene it seems like if Ethan wasn't there he wouldn't even be mentioned as part of the family. Ethan's reaction to his father's comment of his "first son" I think is very telling. His face seems to fall as if he's wanting to say "But what about me, Dad?" I also think this might be part of the reason he saved Mindy's life after the attack on the train. He wanted to know that he made a difference in a way not connected to what he and his family were doing so he could have an accomplishment that was just about HIM. It was especially significant because of the way she had been treating him

I think Detective Bailey did most of not all of the killing. I think Ethan only did the apartment attack because Quinn was supposedly on the phone with her dad while ghostface was already there. The gale attack I just can’t believe that was Quinn but it’s clear as day it wasn’t Ethan or detective Bailey.

This may be a bit of a stretch but in the phone call between Quinn and Wayne may have been a recording. Since Quinn was there and Ethan had a solid alibi, that would have to leave Wayne. I think when we see Wayne in the phone, it was set at a different time to look like he was on the phone with her but it may have been a recording so he could "kill" his daughter

The apartment kill may be the biggest failure in layout in the whole franchise, the only competition I can think of being the Stabathon attack in Scream 4. Both Ethan and Wayne are given solid alibis so there's no way either could have done it. Ultimate in prioritizing audience misdirection over sense. And as was said here Ethan's alibi in particular is either airtight or makes everyone involved look unbelievably stupid, Ethan for giving such an easily disproven excuse and everyone else for not looking into it.

I think you’re completely overlooking a third and more plausible explanation: his alibi was a giant lecture hall, and if you’ve ever had a giant lecture class before, you don’t remember who was or wasn’t there. Call it was weak alibi if you want, but it’s actually pretty smart if you consider that his friends would have to ask 100 people if they saw him before they could confirm it or not. Meaning they would be dead/their plan would be over before they could ever confirm it thoroughly

To be honest, I wish they kept Ethan as just a normal character and let the Ghostfaces stay as just two with Wayne and Quinn. It would've given Wayne and Quinn more depth and a chance for people to enjoy their characters more, and it could've given Ethan the chance to be this movie's red herring. Also, if he was normal, the subway scene could still exist how it is and still make sense. Anika is also the only friend who died in this movie, so Ethan could've also been another loss.
