I also don’t really agree that Roger was underused. His phone call with Gale has to be the longest in the series next to Casey’s in the original, and he gets some of his most emotionally vicious material ever there. Yeah he doesn’t talk much in the scene with Samara Weaving, but he makes up for that with the call to Jason. Then he has the call with Sam and Tara before the bodega scene, the call in the van before Gale’s attack, AND he gets to voice Sam in costume at the end. Althought he said it was for him and Richie bonding, I think is something he did along side all of his children as the three of them clearly seem to know well the shrine seen as how Ethan and Quinn moved really fast all over the place (I even would bet that Quinn and Ethan were part of Richie's movie proyects as Wayne clearly wasn't interested in movies). While I think all were furious over Richie's death, I suspect that Wayne just snapped and didn't think this through while Quinn and Ethan just had a perfect motive to follow after their older brother's steps to fulfill their fantasies of being Ghostfaces, because althought they didn't were effective as their father kills their attacks seemed more brutal and energetic.

For Gale writing the book, Gale would definitely find Richie’s families real names because that’s public record, but not necessarily anything else. If Richie’s family moved and deleted all social media quick enough it’s not unbelievable she would never see their faces. It wouldn’t even be suspicious behaviour - plenty of families do the same after a member turn out to be a mass 5400ter or 5erial killer. And obviously they’re all using fake names in NY too.
@lostlifevids Жыл бұрын
This still doesn’t hold up as the “way back machine” exists. If u don’t know it’s a website that pretty much compiles all archived versions of websites. This is how people find old deleted tweets from celebrities. If you’ve been on Twitter lately u see that this is being used against Greta thunberg. With people captioning “why did u delete this Greta?” Along with the years old deleted tweet. plus richies dad would’ve had to have been a cop for a long time to make detective, meaning he’s been on some police force for some time. There would be plenty of public record for him and it would’ve been part of almost every report that richies dad was a cop due to how shocking that would be. So it is actually a huge flaw that neither gale or Kirby recognized the family in this day and age. In the 90s an extreme make over is much more believable as gale admits she’s only seen Nancy in pictures. Sidney however who knew the woman in person instantly recognized Nancy for who she was. Pictures were way low res back then so somehow an extreme makeover explanation ends up being leagues more believable than the excuses in scream 6 somehow

@@lostlifevids The way back machine only works if people actively use it to take a capture of that time period. People do that for celebrities because people constantly follow them. And Bailey being a cop for a long time has no relevance if he moved and changed his name.

I loved the two killers wiping the knife at once bit. I'm hoping the things that they opened up with Gale and Kirby are dealt with in the next one, and admittedly the "if you believe he's dead" line about Stu made me insanely happy. I just don't see how the name "ghostface" could exist if he didn't at least live long enough to mutter it to an EMT or something. Tatum only said it to her killer, and we are lead to believe they both die that night before repeating it. It's my biggest plot hole greivance.

Definitely agree with you that the Radio Silence team struggles with red herrings and the murder mystery aspect in general. There is a very narrow list of suspects with no misleading clues whatsoever which just makes it process of elimination at that point. The first fared a bit better but it’s way too obvious Quinn’s death was staged and I knew then it was her and the detective, Ethan was a little surprise though I suppose. Pretty disappointing as that’s probably my favorite aspect of the movies and maybe the most integral as well but I also think these two movies are solid despite that glaring flaw. I think the way to handle Gale would be her still writing the book but not with the initial benefit of her getting to report on the story first but to try and help clear Sams name once all the bad press and rumors had begun. By giving Sams point of view in order to help Sam tell her story. That way it would be the first time Gale actually WORKS with the person shes writing her books about and it gives a reason more in line with where Gale was at the end of Scream 5. (You could even have Gale getting backlash/disgraced by the mass media dismissing her book with Sam and calling Gale a liar as well, could even work the iconic punch scene in here with Gale coming to the police station to get the girls and have someone from the media yell obnsenties to Sam or Gale and she punch them.) Granted this would remove the conflict that Sam/Tera have with her but it would be more realistic as to why Gale would want to stick her neck out and help these girls if she had that positive relationship with them. I think doing it this way really sends home the message they had towards the middle when Sam and Gale talk alone "When you lose the one person you love most in the world, you find another to look over."

As for Bailey, it literally just happened one year earlier! There's no way she doesn't recognize him. And how is Bailey the dad of Quinn, Ethan and Richie yet they have different last names? Biggest disappointment for me was the killers’ motive. It would have been way more interesting if the meta commentary for this film was that ghostface actually wanted the “real-life” franchise to end (harkening back to when he says “who gives a f**k about movies”). He is obsessed with the real life ghostface killers and wants to be the last one standing. He wants to kill all the survivors and everyone involved with anything related to the woodsburo murders, and that’s why he is attacking both the new and old characters. This would subvert expectations because he is doing the opposite of what Richie was doing - not finishing Richie’s movie but destroying it. At the end, it could be that he wanted to use Sam or Gale to get to Sidney as the last piece of the puzzle, but that plan is thwarted. THEN all of Mindy’s talk about a franchise actually goes somewhere. And Sam and Tara can realize at the end, as final girls, they are apart of an ongoing franchise and this is now part of their lives forever. And now Tara can grieve.

The funny thing about my first time watching the movie, up until the reveal I was convinced I'd guessed everything right. Not who the killers were, but I was so sure I guessed their motive and connection to previous characters. My guess was that there would be at least 3 or 4 killers, and they would be like an alliance of people who were connected to several past killers. Excluding the killers with pre-established families (Billy, Stu, Mrs Loomis, Roman and Jill) we knew absolutely nothing about the people closest to Mickey, Charlie, Richie and Amber. So because of the shrine shown in Scream 6 and the heavy focus they put on all the past killers, I thought it made total sense for the killers to be a group of unrelated people that teamed up to get revenge on the people they blame. Then all the survivors would be a target, not just Sam and Tara. It makes sense that Gale would be targeted for playing a part in Mickey's death, and the person related to Charlie blames Kirby for rejecting him constantly, which drove him into being Jill's puppet who she could manipulate into killing for her. Then they can have 2 revenge killers for Richie and Amber targeting Sam and Tara, which is straightforward enough. I would've loved this reveal a lot more than having all the killers being in the same family, because then you have the plot holes with the secret identities, fake names, everything that we got in the film, which just made their plan more convoluted and messy

But also dude about Gale. Don’t you sorta think it’s somewhat accurate? Like Dewey was her lifeline to empathy somewhat. And the realest thing in her life. Don’t you think without him, and as well as because of losing him so tragically, that she would possibly regress into her old instincts? And that’s how I saw her boy toy too. I saw her in pain and basically doing the wrong things to make it go away. I honestly thought it was actually truer to her in kinda the most fundamental way? She was always hurting people with her books, specifically the survivors and Dewey, and less often being morally sound. I donno I just feel it was a really real way of showing her deal with him being gone. She probably got bitter and hopeless and was like this is what I am kinda thing, ya know? I can see both sides but I don’t think it was bad. I feel like it added that real life depth and fleshed Gale even more. By regressing her lol. Cause that’s how humans normally function. And I also love flawed characters, with good hearts, who fuck up often, or worse, meet terrible ends through their innate mistakes. It’s the most compelling dynamic for me.

I instantly fell in love with Ethan, so I knew he was one of the killers immediately lol I think they shouldn't have revealed him at the end. They could have had Quinn and Bailey reveal themsevles and Bailey could still monologue about the bond between dads and their first born son. Have Ethan and Mindy appear at the end of the movie, and have Ethan pick up the mask to hint he could be back later. It's one of my gripes with the franchise is that the killer(s) always die at the end, and this way it could have been more of a cliffhanger ending. Especially since this movie was extra gorey and brutal, yet barely any kills. There would be suspense since we know about Ethan while the Core 4 are clueless.

I've watched Scream VI 3 times already and I love it. It has flaws sure, but every single Scream movie does (even the original if you nit pick enough). I feel like over the years people's love of the franchise has almost put it on this pedestal which prevents people from just sitting back and enjoying the ride like they would have 20 years ago. This isn't a dig at Zack as I know the whole point of his channel (which I love ❤) is to analyse the small details. I just think some fans are missing out on the full experience of the movie by being so quick to critique, instead of letting go and allowing the whacky, suspend-your-disbelief universe that Scream has always been to do it's thing for a couple hours. Also side note, I interpreted the online rumours as framing an online fanatic for the murders, not Sam? The way they explained it at the end sounded to me like "someone on reddit believed the rumours that Sam is guilty and became obsessed with revenge, killing Sam and everyone involved" (leaving Billy's mask with her as a message, as she's a serial killer just like her father). Maybe I'm way off haha, just wondering how other people saw it?

Hmm. Agree with a lot of what you say. A few points: 1) The fact that Ritchie even HAS a family isn't mentioned anywhere in either Screams 5 or 6 until the very end of 6. Billy's mother was set up from early on in the original Scream. So just pulling a random father, brother and sister out of nowhere... and then having the father be a police officer, which makes zero sense... it doesn't work either in terms of plot consistency or good writing. 2) They've been hinting for two films now that Tara's going to turn out to be a killer. I predicted this for #6. I really hope they go with it for #7, even if it's a bit obvious. Also I would LOVE for them to do something like "duelling Ghostfaces". They've now set up this world where anybody can put on this outfit for any reason. Why not follow one ghostface who's puzzled by the existence of another, completely separate, ghostface? 3) Going on with S7 requests, I'd like a more clever motive that ties into the theme of the movie. (They could've done this on Scream 6 with the "gaslighting Sam as the killer" thing, but stepped away from that into "revenge" instead. Which again made zero sense. Ritchie never talks about his family, we don't see any of them, we don't get the sense that they're important ever. So why just have them randomly appear at the end of S6?)

@@Skorpio1121 At the very beginning of the of S6 the only person we see the first Ghostface interact with, apart from Samara Weaving, is Tara. She has the most obvious motive to want him dead (since he's planning her death). Note that in S5 Tara was the apparent first victim, and the only person we saw her (apparently) interact with was Amber - there was a big clue that Amber was the killer there (since whenever a character's threatened in a Scream movie, even Charlie in S4, we specifically see them in a position of vulnerability, whereas with Amber we never see this. We just see some prerecorded video footage on Tara's phone.) The scene in S6 mirrors this - now the only person we see the victim interacting with at all is Tara herself. Tara's whole arc in S6 is gaining her independence and the trust of Sam, but part of this is her approval at Sam's treatment of the killer at the end. At one point Sam even hands (I believe - could be wrong here) Billy's knife off to Tara. Symbolism! I'm sure there are moments of dialogue when the "core four" are together, but I can't recall a specific one right now. Anyway those moments definitely seem to point towards Tara if you happen to be looking at her as a potential suspect.

It’s a similar feeling in my camp too. The script for this movie is awful and it almost invalidates the “there’s not a bad scream movie” quote. The chases and phone calls are good and the ghostface motive has potential, it all falls apart by the end and is messily wrapped up. Gale and Kirby are immensely mishandled, Gale getting the worst of it. Gale writing a book is interesting if it’s her way of grappling grief… but they don’t explore it. Then she has a boyfriend, and they don’t explore it. Her success she’s craved for all these movies; she’s finally got it… and they don’t explore it. I have fun with this movie but the more I think about what it could’ve been, the worse I feel about it. I have fun with it, but outside of Sam and Tara, I don’t care about anybody. Mindy and Chad say like three sentences to each other through out the entire thing, and their relationship falters the most out of the core four; meanwhile we’re getting Chad and Tara romance shoehorned in…

Why did Sam not just kill the detective while he was passed out? Why did she go put the costume on, wait for him to wake up, and call him? She risked her life just to be a bad ass? I mean, it was cool and all, but not realistic. I’m surprised Zach didn’t mention that.

I LOVE your idea for what they should have done with the cold open kill. Having it being a homage from the iconic Dario Argento kill from Suspiria would have been gold. It would have opened with such an epic bang and how thrilling would that be for all us horror fans to experience Samara weavings characters kill mirroring the first kill in Suspiria. Chef's kiss right there. I feel thats something Wes Craven would be integrating into these sequels at this point. Horror is so vast with subgenres and iconic kills that there are so many great meta ideas to grasp from to make homages to classic horror and keeping the Scream franchise fresh in every sequel. It would be a genuinely frightening and shocking open. I definitely feel they should have utilized the New York setting more and same with the Halloween season. They could have done so much more with it being on that holiday.

I will leave a more robust comment soon but I literally screamed out of sheer excitement for the 2 Ghostface, 1 scene moment... my prayers were answered. Fundamentally, this filmed leaned in too heavily on plot contrivances, armour and holes. However, lots of fun and really liked the 5 killers in one film with different motives.

As for Sam admitting she stabbed Richie 22 times, slit his throat and shot him in the head. Her therapist then wants to report her. Um duh, the police already know I am sure. They were at the crime scene the end of part 5. So why report her ? She already got away with it some how lol.

They could have made the killer Sam and Tara’s mother. And either sams love interest or the detective as an accomplice. They talked about how their mother was no longer on good terms with them because she was so upset at Sam for causing her divorce and Tara no longer talking to her. And the killer told Sam “She had to pay for what she did” and calling her a killer could have be like a metaphor for killing the family that they had. And during the mindy scene of her going over the rules she mentioned that we should expect the opposite of everything that has happened already. Another idea could have been since scream 1 started with Sidney’s dead mother being killed by ghost face and someone else was framed for it. How bout they do the opposite and have Sam and Taras mother be ghost face and have the mother try to frame Sam for the killings. Anything other than what we got
