any tips for grabbing in the air? I've been getting some pretty consistent frontside ollies and early grabs over a hip at my local, every time I try and grab in the air I end up bailing it.

Awesome video. Would love to see any sort of vert ramp content, just starting to get fs airs on one. Dont know if you sesh them at all, but myself being new to them it feels like even the biggest of bowls are worlds apart from learning to skate vert ramps in terms of familiarity

0:08 "I don't really have them dialed in". That warm you did, I don't even have that dialed in. My warmups start with kick turns. Hey at least I do both front and backside kick turns. Question about the 187 Kneepads. I heard initially they are a tight fit, but eventually contour to your leg so it gets to be a good fit. Is that true?
@thomevans4018
@thomevans4018 2 жыл бұрын
This is true about the knee pads, it takes a little bit to get them there but once they’re good they’re very very good
@ZackDowdy
@ZackDowdy 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I'm not stoked on my 187 Kneepads, they've ripped at the bottom after 5-6 sessions but to be fair maybe I wasn't using them right. The fit is a bit snug, and they do loosen up similar to a pair of shoes.

I feel like having fear of flying over the coping is what stops people from going higher, when i was doing backside air it took me a while to try full speed like a maniac.
@kylep3759
@kylep3759 Жыл бұрын
If you go full speed and come back in the same exact angle you went up you will get much higher. You're hitting the ramp at about 75 degrees go for the straight up 90 degrees you'll be up at least 3 feet higher

Nice! It really depends person to person. If you're comfortable with frontside and backside grinds on 8+ transition, I think that'll help.

@@ZackDowdy Thx! Can’t wait 👊🏽 skating vert tomorrow and I was gonna try to scrape the tail straight through the coping onto the invisible wall. I can quarter pipe air to bank like big Al’s video and I’m consistently three wheels over coping on vert just looking for that last final step and I thought maybe the invisible wall would help🤷🏽‍♂️

Hey, Thanks for the vids :) Do you let your wheels (back or even back & front ?) bump on the coping or do you have to pop the board so nothing touches ?
@ZackDowdy
@ZackDowdy 2 жыл бұрын
I lift my front wheels up towards me and let my back wheels bonk the copping, helping bring the board closer to my hand.

tuck that knee... its not worth learning stinkbug style and having to start over to an extent to do them correctly.... remember, its not what you do, its how you do it.... learning proper tuck knee grabs will also keep you more compact. dont reinvent the wheel, people have been doing stylish tuck knee f/s airs 6 foot out since the early 80's at least.
@skate_oasis
@skate_oasis Жыл бұрын
I'm curious what the technical downfalls of grabbing stink-bug are. I leared all my grabs snowboarding, and because of the stiffness of boots and bindings, grabbing tuck knee is really difficult. So I learned indys and frontside airs grabbing stink-bug.
