Dang boy. I could go on and on about what an odd (read: unusual), and extremely musical way to play a solo, with such a musical and supportive ensemble, how you clearly have chops for days, but appropriately sublimated them to the context, and built up the dynamics and tension throughout… How you play more like a percussionist than a drummer, with color, flair, rhythmic invention, how this is worthy of some of the great masters, and takes me back to some of the amazing music of the 70s & 80s… But instead, I’m just searching for the jaw-drop emoji. Ah, this one will have to do for now: 😮

I think people just take for granted how insane what they’ve just watched is. Ho-ly-shit. That’s a lifetime of dedication to your instrument condensed and expressed over 2 minutes or so. The coordination, speed, articulation, expression, dynamics, phrasing, power, precision and general groove is absolutely mind blowing. People go on and on about drummers like Mike Portnoy etc. But this here really is in a league of its own. Most people could only ever dream of playing like this!! - no gimmicks, just all talent. So, so killing Zack!!!!

Jazz, prog, and tech-death drummer here. Zack is who I aspire to be someday. This dude is miles ahead of some of my all time favorite drummers (Brann Dailor, Tyler Coburn, etc). As much as I love those drummers, as they have shaped my playing style, Zack has something that they don’t have, I don’t know what yet, but he’s got this secret weapon bro, I swear. Zack, continue doing what you’re doing, as I love every damn second of it!!

Zack, I hope you see this, but I wanna let you know how big of an inspiration you were for me. Back in 10th grade of high school I was really trying to get into drumming more, but didn't know where to really start. I found your "why some drummers never get called back" video in my recommended and got hooked immediately. I kept watching videos on your channel and I was really digging your grooves and the whole vibe. Before I watched your videos, I didn't really have as intense of a passion for drumming and my grooves were really bland and uninspired, and while I still don't have good chops I can say I put a lot more passion into my drumming because your videos inspired me so much. They also opened a door for me to find some of my favorite drummers of all time like Larnell Lewis, Louis Cole, JD Beck. I'm going to college for music and specializing in percussion, so when I get out I hope to see you some time in the music world so I can thank you in person.
