6:15 complaining about oxalates from spinach is so funny to me cause I remember researching skunk cabbage to see if the leaves were edible (the name comes from the flower that stinks but the leaves are huge and look delicious) and they’re actually full of oxalates and apparently oxalates in high amounts are like eating the spiciest food you can imagine because it’s an acid. But even then you’d have to eat a crazy amount of them to actually be harmful. Like you could not handle eating a food high in oxalates in enough quantity to be bad for you. The health benefits of spinach in iron etc is drastically higher than the deficit of oxalates being present because your body can absolutely deal with the tiny amount in spinach
@staleofte33093 ай бұрын
True. This fear of oxalate is irrational for most people and just comes off as a silly excuse to not eat greens.
@eric_james_music3 ай бұрын
Yup, although there are some individuals who have a harder time digesting oxalates because of genetics, the vast majority of people can handle greens and get benefits from them. They can interfere slightly with mineral absorption, but unless you literally only eat spinach and no other food the rest of the day, you'll be fine. Also, baby greens have less oxalates, and cooking them reduces the overall content. That being said, you should have some raw greens and some cooked ones. Vitamins are destroyed by heat, since they are made of CHO, but minerals are not because they are metals. We live in an insane world where people think eating fruits and veggies is dangerous to your health because of stupid internet people with no background in science. If someone really fears oxalates, they can get similar benefits from other veggies. Red bell peppers have more than 100% your daily value of vitamin A and C. Nuts and legumes cover basically all of your minerals. Whole wheat bread has B vitamins, dairy eggs and meat have B 12. This carnivore diet stuff is out of hand. We NEED fiber lol for healthy gut bacteria and also bowel movements that aren't pure liquid.

its crazy how everyone has google in their pocket, but for some reason just flat out lying and stating it as a fact is so meta in brainwashing half of society. at this point i dont think people care about what's true or not. they just want someone to reaffirm their beliefs that were probably even created on a whim based on their feelings at the time. all they need is one random video to make them feel a certain way, whether the video is truthful or not, and they will spend their entire lives defending that belief and purposely reaffirming it with lies that they dont even want to fact check. you could present them with a video in 8k, that's irrefutable and completely shows them the truth, and if it goes against something they *want to believe*, they'll ignore it and keep on believing something that's untrue. it's so weird to me. If I didn't have memories of being 2 years old, and remember how i felt and vividly remember snippets of my mindset growing up as a toddler until now, I wouldn't be able to relate with or fathom more than half of society. Most people are like some kind different species of human to me, and I notice most of them have the same thought process I did as a 5 year old. It's like certain parts of their brain stopped developing at a certain age, but everything else developed. they still learned to speak at a high level, and collected a lot of information as they grew up, etc.
