I've been calling them abusers for years before I ever seen the snake issue. They are constantly taking large fish out of their natural habitat and putting them in small pools and shortly after making videos stating "My Pet Fish Died". Then they go and replace said fish with another wonderful specimen and the cycle continues.

I just find it amusing that we feel one way about a group of animals and another about the other though their effects on the environment we all seem to love so much are equally harmful. The pythons funnily enough are becoming vulnerable, threatened even, in their natural range. Passing legislation in one state sets precedent in the others. It is now easier for other states to ban Burms, and as a result we may lose a potentially good method of species conservation at the hands of responsible, well researched individual.

@@briancalifornia1 Actually even invasive species that are supposed to be dispatched in Florida are subject to laws that require euthanasia to be humane, while you are required to kill them it is illegal to torture them... in other words the people pouring boiling water on live animals and doing similarly horrible things are doing illegal things. It is against Florida law to "torture or inflict suffering on any animal, including nuisance animals"

those people in florida doing the shows catching burmese pythons are complete fakes, and here is how the pros are actually finding the snakes out in the glades, they release male burmese pythons with gps trackers inplanted in them and use them to find any of the breeding sized females...those people doing shows claiming they are hunting them are just fake hunters with no skill and get the snakes from the real hunters so they can boost their shows, especially zach catch nothing fishing.....

I just went to prehistoric pets yesterday and I was extremely disappointed lots of snakes with huge swollen noses from rubbing and or infection, lizards with infected mouths, and the most dirty enclosures I've seen anywhere. Petcos conditions looked better which is sad. There were so many employees, I don't understand how the conditions were so bad. Lots of snakes in the same enclosure with at least 6-8 boas in the same 2 foot but 2 foot enclosure. 4 anacondas in the same small enclosure etc. I get it with the huge retics they might do that and make a huge mess but for almost everysingle one of his 100s of enclosures to be extremely dirty with little to no water was disheartening. I'm not going to watch his channel even now even tho I did very few times before. I mean if you just look at yelp reviews from prehistoric pets you've seen this issue has gone on for a long time with no correction.

Just came across your channel and immediately subbed. Thank you for shining some light on some of the disgusting people who are essentially being paid to torture INNOCENT animals. No python (or other animal) chooses to be introduced to an ecosystem that they would never be able to reach without human intervention, they simply try to survive. I lived on both coasts of southern FL for over 14 years and I both worked n did a lot of recreation outside. In all that time I may have heard 10 first hand accounts where people crossed paths with non-native pythons. This is not to say it doesn't happen but it's rare to see so many in urban or even suburban settings, especially large animals. Sorry for the length here but I love animals with reptiles being a favorite and this video hit me hard. THANK YOU

I love what nerd does with monitors. I have a savannah monitor that is about 3 yrs old. He's a big boy and thanks to your videos he is now my best friend. I get too disturbed by animal cruelty to even watch -- it never leaves my brain. But I totally applaud you for exposing it on KZbin. It's possible that some of these psychopaths will graduate to humans. You have to have a huge deficit in empathy to be cruel to animals and that's one thing that characterizes them.

As someone that adopted a snake from prehistoric pets that was a bad discussion I made! The snake was not eating and when I asked questions how to help the snake out they said,"well that never happened when he was with us." I when to a reptile vet and they said the Rosie boa was healthy but stressed out a few days later I went to weight him I find him died in the enclosure I messaged them back about what happened and had no response I'm so pissed with how they handled the situation!

Lol. We have stray cats out the ass in south fl though. Most counties are no kill counties. Where they will trap cats and release them spayed or neutered. They cant breed but they sure do kill a ton of native species daily. Whereas i have never seen a Python in the wild so far.

I went on a python hunt with a state licensed contractor and didn’t find a single one. He broke the record recently for largest one caught down here though, so they are definitely here just not coming up peoples toilets or in heir houses. Most of them are out on the Everglades away from the people.

Most people that I know that actually find them take small boats way out into the everglades and look in crazy spots to find them. Invasive species are an issue for sure. But to out right ban dozens of pets and not grandfather the pets that are already owned is just shitty. Bot to mention these laws will cause most people that own a banned species will let it go free into wild rather than hand it over to be killed by fish and game.Stray cats are much more devastating to an ecosystem. They will kill anything smaller than them just for sport. Whereas a python may eat as little as maybe a prey item per month. But a ban on house cats would bever be proposed because they are cute and fuzzy.

While I garden, I know animals are all connected to the health of the area i garden. I was delighted when frogs joined my environment after digging a small ditch then last year a snake joined, so I gave her a bucket home in its side. It breaks my heart watching the torture of animals. I'm not a flaming animal worshiper either, just honor the world God gave us to watch over.

I've been critical of Jay in the past (felt he was sensationalizing strikes, his snakes always seem mad at him, etc.), but I think this video really put his content into perspective both as a business trying to survive a pandemic and more importantly, compared to actual abusers. Some of this video was very hard to watch, but I hope the awareness creates some pressure to hold abusers accountable. As a community we need to stop attacking/vilifying each other because 'your gecko is on a different substrate than I use' and work together against real abusers and those using that content to hurt our hobby! Thank you for doing this video!

I agree 100%. He’s not abusing his animals. I’ve personally been to prehistoric pets and the animals look very healthy and happy, and all of the employee’s love the animals and spoil them. A lot of bites are from snakes protecting their clutch, which isn’t at all abnormal. The more money he makes from videos, the more money he has to care for his animals. A lot of people don’t think about that. Their biggest concern is “he only wants views” but they don’t think for a second that IF he goes out of business those animals all pay the price.

With maybe he doesn’t shoot Burms with a bow and stage them in sewers to recapture them for clicks and views, or burn Iguanas in the sink (which those guys should be hit HARD for animal cruelty!) But Chandler still does sensationalistic handling of dangerous animals and over hypes and over dramatizes his interactions with these animals for same reasons clicks, views and subscribers. Venomous Reptile work if done correctly is almost boring. It’s frustrating to see someone claim to be a professional and only surround themselves with other professionals... And clearly be far from professional! Tyler Nolan is not a professional, that’s pretty obvious. Just because you some how got a license doesn’t make you a professional. And it clearly shows. Professionals don’t let a 13ft King Cobra crawl on their leg when they do a public Q and A or, EVER! Why do that? What do you have to gain besides followers? A trip to ICU or the grave? Do you see professional Reptile Keepers at San Diego Zoo doing that? Of course you don’t! Because professionals respect the animals and others around them so they don’t put themselves or the animals in harms way unnecessarily. If these guys had one ounce of respect for others in the reptile industry. They would not be selling themselves out for likes, shares, clicks, views and subscribers. It’s about the public’s perception of us. Perception is unfortunately is reality to the masses. The way someone perceives something, is their reality of it. Someone sees Chandler, Tyler or the rest of the sensationalistic Tubers doing dumb stuff with Cobras and Vipers. And the world perceives the rest of Venomous keepers as the same level of dumb ass. There are people that put in truly hard work to do this the right way that you’ll never know. Because they’re not out there on social media making themselves and the industry they supposedly say they love and need to protect look like a bunch of reckless assholes. I am not a big reptile person, but I have been educated by Brian and y’all, through your videos. You are truly in it for education, I stopped watching the other videos because you can tell when these people are staging for views! Plus that’s the whole reason I didn’t like snakes was fear of being bitten, why do I want to watch someone being bitten. Again I never likes snakes, I thought the only good snake was a dead one! But my views of them and love for them have changed over the past 5 years through yours and few other guys channels I watch! Thank you for posting this video. I wasn't subscribed to all the channels that are committing these horrible attacks on the animals, but I was to a few of them - more than I care to admit. The ones that I was subscribed to, I went through and unsubscribed from. You're right that a lot of the things that they're doing is torture to the animals. Just to get views. WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG. I like snakes. I also understand the invasive species problem that Florida has. But, if the reptiles are going to be hunted to try and get them out of the ecosystems they definitely have to be hunted in a humane manner as any other animal that is hunted. I live in Michigan and I hunt deer sometimes. I don't ever go on a killing spree and just kill a bunch of deer. And I don't hunt every tag I can every year or season. When I do hunt it's not for sport and not for a trophy to hang on the wall. When I hunt it's to put meat in a nearly empty freezer - I need food to put on the table. And I try to mak as clean as kill as possible so the animal doesn't suffer. I don't get a thrill about killing animals. Actually it bothers me sometimes, but like I said, it's only to put meat in the freezer. I don't go around killing everything in sight. Actually I get pissed off by what mankind has done to this planet. Mankind has killed a lot of species to extinction - which makes me sick to my stomach and really gets me pissed off. There's so many species of animals that are protected from being extinct because of what mankind has done. Anyways, sorry about the rant. I'm sure I said more than enough to make the point I'm trying to make. Thank you for doing a good job at taking care of your animals well. I have watched enough of your videos that I'm confident in making that statement

Yes, it's humans fault this happened in the first place and the pythons are the one's that suffer. But, you think they should just be left there? Do you have any idea what happening in the everglades? Do you know that some (most!) native species are almost totally wiped out now? The burms have no predator in the everglades. Do some research, come back and tell us your solution. (I am NOT advocating ANY cruelty and these pythons caught should be humanely euthanized. But their population CAN'T be allowed to keep increasing.

I'm a keeper in Florida and I'm so worried that one day I won't be able to continue this lovely hobby because of idiots like this. You also wouldn't believe the number of iguana sales that petco and petsmart have made in the last few years. Its all just so upsetting.

I’m so glad you pointed out jay brewer. I’m a new reptile fan thanks to Emily and Ed and I watched jay brewer and I was really unco,for table about the way he was removing eggs from one of his snakes. She was distressed and it just seemed so cruel to antagonise her.

Anyone who has been to his shop in Orange County(Prehistoric Pets) would be appalled at it. Granted I havent lived in socal for 6+years but back in the day, he had a really nice looking shop with very not nice looking enclosures and cleanliness. I met him a few times and hard to form a firm personal or business opinion on him but just the fact he allows the animals in his store to live in such bad conditions is a testament to him as the owner. He also turned most of his shop into a "zoo" which you have to pay for. Good on you for finding a way to make money off people who just come in and browse without ever buying anything.
