As much as I wish I had sent my dog to Brandon for training before bringing him home kzbin.infoUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU I am so grateful for this down-to-earth, practical guide. His training techniques and tips really work. Thank you as well for dedicating your life's work to rescue dogs, and to rescuing those of us who want the very best for our 4-legged family members.

This entire series has been great so far! I actually ordered your book first and from there ended up watching all the videos and ordering your second book. I am so happy to have found resources that mirror my own belief that dogs needs love and care not punishment. We are getting a new puppy tomorrow and I have gotten so many new ideas. It has also been great for my younger children who do not remember the last family dog and the older one has been super engaged and curious.

@Natalie Wainwright I'll check it out. Robert Capral seems to follow the same beliefs as my dad. (He trained rescue dogs or something before I was born and then of course my previous family dogs) though of course some things have improved and people have learned a lot since the 80's. I will check out the suggested people though and see what more I can learn.

Watch the channel freestyle paws, leerburg TV, or Robert cabral to see what real dog training looks like, and what you can accomplish when you know what you are doing. Zak George is a fraud who's method of training gets millions of dogs euthanasied because these types of trainers won't except that positive only doesn't work

So glad I found your videos! I haven’t raised a puppy in a long time (the last one we adopted at 1 1/2 year old last year and he was a champ!). We just adopted a new puppy yesterday (7 week old Golden Shepherd) and he’s a little cutie but dang, I forgot a lot from the puppy stage! Thanks for making your videos detailed, fun, and informative! I’m looking forward to using these techniques with him!

@malinataylor9184
@malinataylor9184 3 жыл бұрын
Use Leerburg if you want a well behaved dog. Positive only, like what Zak George does is a big lie! It results in aggressive, or reactive behaviors and will make your dog insecure. Positive reinforcement is great for teaching a new puppy, but they also need structure and discipline to understand how to behave in the real world.
@zoeflorence
@zoeflorence 3 жыл бұрын
@@malinataylor9184 i mean u got a point but ESPECIALLY when the dog really young scolding and disciplining can make the puppy very insecure which also can result in aggressive behavior. So id suggest to train with only positive reinforcement in the first weeks so that ur puppy can built trust and learn that "working" for the owner pays off. Of course within time your dog also needs to learn bounderies. Therefore it helps to establish certain house rules BEFORE the puppy gets brought in the household. Also dog training is a lot of intuition which you will learn overtime. Dog training isnt black and white and you will get to know your dog and get a feeling for what reaction of you is appropriate in the respective situations. What I'm trying to say is YES you need to set boundaries for your dog and YES a bit of discipline is necessary but in the first weeks you should just concentrate on potty training (which will work very well with positive reinforcement only and scolding your dog for having accidents will only make matters worse), forming a bond with your puppy, building trust and showing ur dog that being a good boy/girl pays off ;)

Hey Zak, my fiancé and I are wondering if you have ever considered making some longer video? We love your content but always find ourselves a little disappointment by how brief they are. Especially since you only release one (occasionally two) per week. We are solid fans, we have purchased both your books, are using your 30 day perfect pup, have signed up for Pupford and Barkbox, and overall just adore you. We just would really love to have some more in depth/longer videos to enjoy after waiting a week for your content. I hope this is something you will consider.

My puppy does well at home. We haven't left him more than 45min. I bring him to work while I train him (he's 3month old border collie). At work (care home) he barks when seeking attention while I'm providing care. It's so frustrating. He's got all kinds of toys. I know it takes patience. Thank you for your videos!!!

I said in another video that I re-homed a little girl of 5 last week. Her genetics are a little bit of everything, but mostly, she is the crazy doggo at the start!! 😁 I went out for an hour today & she had torn the rubbish bag open & it was everywhere & I left the press where I keep shopping bags & her's & my rescue cats food & treats. She had dragged the food bags out & I'm sure she had a good go & getting them open. I need this video, BAD 😁

I can't leave my puppy loose with potty pads he'd shred them out of frustration now he hit 7th months (he wouldn't at 5 and 6months when he escaped the bedroom). Other than that in one big room he behaves until we're back. Tho now it's more comfortable to know he's behind pen plays ! We're both hating the crate now, I think it's good between 3months and 6months but now it's really a pain !!

Someone with a Puppy with severe separation anxiety like mine at 1 year old. Do this. 1. Play with your dog or puppy for at least a half hour running around a lot. 2 make sure you give the dog plenty of water and take it out before you leave. 3.Most importantly if you only have 1 dog.... Get CBD Dog Treats. Hands down helps with their anxiety and will fall asleep majority of the day. 4. Each week lower the dosage of the treats until you don't need it anymore or unless needed. Hope this helps... It helped us

We brought home our puppies (yes 2!!) at the beginning of December 2019. We originally had them in a pen, but they quickly learnt to climb out. We made the decision to let them sleep free. The first few weeks was troublesome (they completely tore up my rug!). They now sleep in our bedroom (any tips for stopping them sleeping on the bed lol). Due to Covid, we've been home all day with them - I'm nervous when we need to leave them home alone as we don't have crates and have never crated.

My 10 month old puppy has separation anxiety. We have been training leaving her alone since we got her, we train every day and now we worked it up to two minutes without her screaming. She's not destructive but she screams. We're leaving her in the crate most of the time. Last weeek we left her in the bedroom for 30 minutes when we had to leave and she did a little better, but still she barked.

Zach I love your videos! I have used all your teaching methods and Captain Jack is doing so well. Puppy biting is at a minimum. Thanks so much for your help. I have a sunroom full of windows that is off my living room that I have dedicated as his room. It is air conditioned and heated. While we are home he can run freely through our designated rooms: living room kitchen for your his sunroom our bedroom our bathroom. When we are gone to work I Leave him in his room. He does a little howling but does not seem to have anxiety. I go in the other room to nap and he doesn’t keep me up. I work from home and feel guilty for putting him in there but due to my sewing business I can’t chance him getting one of the quilts. He is 5 months old and I walk him a couple miles each day along with yard play. What are the best things to have in his room for our work days?

Any advice on what to do differently when it comes to getting a 3.5 month puppy as opposed to getting a 8-week old puppy?

So I got my puppy when she was 4 months old and honestly taught her like I got her at 8 weeks Really the only difference is that there may already be some habits that you'll have to work through

Who did the portrait paintings of your pups? Would you share contact info for them? Thanks for the videos and advice.

My bf and I have a 9 week old mini australian shepherd. We've been working on training her to get used to us being outside of her area so she's alone in her play pen/crate. But as soon as she's through whining, she just falls asleep and hasn't picked up that she can play while she's alone. Any advice?

Hey Zak I have a question... (anyone else can answer too) which is the best type of grass for a new puppy? Because we are moving into a new house and we are getting a border collie. It would be helpful to get an answer! Many thanks 😊

Question witch is not related to video topic. We have Blue Merle border collie (Shadow) which is in exact age and long of coat as your Inertia. What are you doing about shedding? As we are brushing him, using gloves to get rid of that hair every day or 2 and yet, the hair is everywhere! Any product or ideas what will help? Thanks in advance.

I've let my 7 month old puppy alone in my bedroom for about an hour a few times now. There seem to have been no destruction, he just barks when I leave, but sleeps when I come back. Could I leave him alone for longer times or is he too young?
