The Guide elaborates on the techniques used on the show. kzbin.infoUgkx5AVCD46OLnYCyGwOxmyhhvJJSZVuz6nN The examples given in the are helpful and some of the techniques suggested very useful. One such technique/tool suggested was the lure stick to encourage a small dog to keep up with the heel command. I have a small dog who lags behind smelling any and everything and find it hard to keep bending over while walking to his level. The lure stick is great also for another dogs focus and sprinting at anything that catches her eye. The stories about different dogs, their different temperaments, have been helpful, especially Lulu's: After reading about Lulu's challenges I felt relief concerning one of my rescues that I have had for 10 years. Over many years I have checked out many training books from the library, watched different shows, DVDS, bought training books, taken lessons and this book is the best by far! Kindness, patience and perseverance works.

Thank you so very much for showing detailed training of an untrained dog. It’s infinitely more helpful than watching a trainer demonstrating with a trained dog. This was a huge commitment on your part and it’s of great value to us all.

I'm really bummed this series is at an end. It has been so helpful and been so "truthful" and "honest" on what it's really like to take in a rescue dog and train one that truly isn't already trained. To see the good, the bad, and the ugly. I'll really miss this. I hope you'll start another one soon. Would love to see you tackle a fearful dog or an itty-bitty dog.

This series came along right as I realized my own rescue dog was waaaay to reactive on a leash. Seeing you work with a dog that had the same issue was so valuable. Now, by the end, my little Zia is by no means perfect, but I can take her for a pretty peaceful walk in my busy neighborhood.
@jesss79303 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on everything you’ve achieved with Moira!! Yes please, show us more of “down time” with a puppy or a dog in training. My 8 month old pup knows settle, but he can’t maintain it for long. After 10 minutes he’s back up and wanting play time. This is after a 45 minute morning walk and a 1.5 hour walk/play in the afternoon. Then bedtime is nuts - he wants to play instead of settling down. If we leave the house he’s fine with it and he sleeps, and he’ll be pretty chill from around 8-3, but when we’re home he just won’t take a break. I’d love to see how you guys communicate to new or young dogs “no, now you play on your own or settle down while we do people things”.

This REALITY series has been so helpful. Following along with Moira and Zak gives us hope with our 6 month old labradoodle who with COVID and my sheltering at home is just not being exposed to new people and gets far too excited. She lunges and jumps up and at 47 lbs is hard to control. I have followed Zak's videos and book, and she is wonderful about not biting, very soft mouth when she plays and gets treats. She is crate trained and sleeps through the night after about the 1st week of her coming home at 8 weeks old. She is very high energy like Moira and fetch and tug-o-war are two of her favorite games. She is going to be a wonderful family dog, and I'm sure following through with Zak's training of Moira on leash pulling will help us get her there. Thank you Zak & Moira and team!!!

OMG IT'S GONNA CONTINUE WUTH A NEW DOGGO YAAAAY! ZACK! I'm sure this will get buried, but your series has helped my wife and I SO much with our new rescue. She's coming along wonderfully and we couldn't be happier to have her as a new member of our family. Your series has been INSTRUMENTAL in helping her and us connect and manage her anxieties and give her a better quality life from her abusive past. I truly can't thank you enough for showing the real raw every day training, and helping temper our expectations so we keep making progress with her and take a step back when it's difficult for her. She wouldnt let ANYONE touch her paws at first, then recently we had a huge breakthrough when she learned "shake." It's like something clicked in her and she's always eager and happy to get her nails trimmed now. She's always eager to learn something new after that! All light and all love, Zack!!! -New happy doggo parents

This is an amazing series! Thanks Zak! I found it at the same time as we adopted a 1 year old Border Collie rescue (had her for 12 days now). A totally different challenge though, she is such a sensitive, easily spooked dog, very scared and timid. We have a hard time getting her to trust us. Scared of taking food from us, so treat/lure training is very difficult. She didn't want to play with us. She would play with a ball all on her own in the yard, but the moment we appeared she would stop and if we tried with all the soft, gentle energy and love we got to get her re-engaged, she would just sit and avoid looking at us. Also crazy scared of a harness and lead, runs away and hide if it appears. Sheez, I could go on with so much more stuff like that. Point being, through this series with Moira I learned to keep heart, be consistent and gently keep working on her issues in the smallest steps imaginable. My heart sang when she chased a ball I threw for the first time mere days ago. Didn't pick it up or anything, but she could let go of all the crazy restraint she's had around us. The first time she came closer spontaneously for a cuddle, my goodness, I cried happy tears. Everyday she trusts us a tiny bit more. I can't wait to see her personality blossom as she builds confidence. I would love to see a series from you where you help a dog to emerge from their shell and become a happy, secure, confident pup.

This has been your best series and episode to date! Sad to see Moira go, but sooo glad to see she got a new mom who's willing to dedicate her time for a working dog! With my own "Moira" gsd I learned that dogs may take a year or two or more, but they will give a decade😊 thanks to my gsd I'm in good shape after my surgeries and cell blockers and what not, I've read 20 dog training books at least, talked and made contact on dozens of trainers, learned to stay humble and also to fail joyfully when I do. Thank you for this!!❤

I can’t imagine how tough it must be to temporarily “adopt” a dog, teach it as much as you did, bond with her, and then having to let her go. You can be so proud of yourself, this is really amazing and very inspiring. I have a border collie which actively ignores me as soon as there are other dogs. This really gives me hope and makes me want to work with her on her attention.

I train dogs and do it all the time. Honestly you just start loving having a trained dog, so even though some dogs are special most of them drive you a bit crazy and you don’t miss them too much. The training is still fun, but i definitely don’t bond too much with clients dogs after a while.

This is quality content! This is ready for tv and I am super bummed out that this does not have more views. With over 3 million subs, Zak has an incredible platform to spread his huge knowlegde to literally millions of people. It's such a shame that the attention spend is so small in modern sociaty that people can't be bothered to watch quality and useful content that is longer then 10 minutes. Keep up the good work Zak!
@brianwalker19333 жыл бұрын
If you cover up the mesh dog cage (leave a small opening for the dog to enter, leave and see out of) with, for example, a blanket to replicate a cave (for want of a better word) the dog will settle down more easily and quickly, as their instincts are to rest/hide in a “dark place”. It quickly helps to relieve stress and anxiety. When treating injured animals, domesticated or wild, placing an item of clothing such as a jacket, towel or a small piece of cloth over their face and eyes, helps to calm them down. Vets and wildlife rescuers use this technique all the time. Darkness always has a “calming effect” on animals.

The series with Moira is the first one I saw on your channel and although I never had the chance to be with her, I felt the separation anxiety as if I was the one with her witnessing her progress in her training. I can't help the tears. I feel like my heart gonna burst and come through my throat. #SeparationAnxiety is what I feel. I'm happy she's got a new mom and I hope they will have a great time together. I really pray that her new mom will take care of her like her own child.

We have loved this series. It is so helpful and insightful. Our rescue dog is very much like Moira, and is even part GS. This series is helping us understand our dog better and focus on how to overcome the issues he has. Thank you Zak!

I absolutely LOVED this series. I’ve learned SO much watching your videos with Myra. I’ve subscribed to your channel here & on other social media platforms. Looking forward to learning more so that I can apply the knowledge m to my two new puppies. I’ll go ahead and buy your books too!

Those episodes were a valuable source of information which gave us the opportunity and some tools to work further with our boy! Thank you for this! One thing I would also like to mention is that I am concerned about barkbox as I recently was informed that a good number of people lost their loved pets due to certain treats with duck flavor and the company should be held accountable for those incidents as there are many complaints. I am worried about recommending products from them. In any case, I may be wrong and therefore I apologize in advance as I have no personal experience from this company products.

This series was excellent, thank you. what a good idea, a good way to teach a lot. Of course Moira is adorable and quite bright. I learned a lot which will help me with the 1 1/2 year old German Shepherd female I adopted, who looks like Moira and is also high energy and lovely. Thanks again, great job on these videos.

Aw, I 'm sad. I wanted you to decide to adopt Moira. Maybe we can have follow-ups down the line. Good luck, puppy and Arina! (Sorry for mangling the spelling.)
