Bro in music there are taal .. and it is kind of written.. cause you know if you are in a particular taal..and whats the meter of it. So it is kind of pre known..
@shriyanssaxena1
@shriyanssaxena1 5 жыл бұрын
Samrat Banik True but that is the base... paltas and tihais used in this piece were not written. Taal is like the beat- for example - in teen taal (the one in this one) its a duration of 16 Beats. All the tukdas, etc added to it were not written. And 1000s of songs are in teen taal. Taals are not written for individual pieces of music. So in terms of composition- it’s not a written piece but more of a conversation. Which is why in classical Indian music you don’t have notes in front of the musicians coz there is a lot of “improvisation” during the performance. In movie terms: “the scene is of a lover leaving the protagonist” that is taal. The nuances of the scene- script, dialogues etc- that is on the spot

You cannot improvise and memorize so much so accurately. It's pure mastery !
@PKDutta
@PKDutta 5 жыл бұрын
As a learner of Indian classical music I am gonna assure that in our tradition while you are performing alone or you are with some accompanying instruments- you are always improvising the RAAGA and others are improvising there instruments following the same- that’s it. There is no written script that you are memorising. Suppose here two instruments are being played- the one with sticks called Santoor, the Santoor player is playing one particular Raaga that comprises 7 notes, and there is a certain tune in that certain Raaga which is called the Pakad. He was maintaining the Pakad and improvising it in his own way and Usad Zakir Hussain playing a Teen Taal on which the entire composition lies. Taal means the rhythmic cycle. A Teen Taal is composed in 16 beats. Within the boundary of that 16 beats a tabla player can be extremely innovative. Indian classical music is very intricate. You can’t understand this until you are not learning it from a teacher, we call a Guru. Love to see your reaction videos. Best wishes.

@Rick Segal, It wasn't a song, it was a RAAG. And, Raags are improvised on stage. Lot of people think, improvisation in Indian Music is like Jazz, but in Indian Music improvisation is done under strict rules(of the particular raaga), hence making it very unique.

In classical music there is a thing called Sawaal - Jawaab Translation : Question - Answer Now in Sawaal - Jawaab the string instrumentalist randomly plays a specific set of notes and then the percussionist plays that same thing on their instrument. And yes it's not scripted. It's as random as it can be. Both of them have to listen and copy that exact thing. YOU GUYS HAVE TO REACT TO A SAWAAL-JAWAAB VIDEO !!!!!

Santoor is a hilly instrument. You both just close your eyes & hear to the music. You can see the snow capped mountains, green meadows, crystal clear flowing streams, lakes & blooms around, chirping birds, so on.... Did you see the cool & composed disposition of both maestros, how meticulous was the way they concluded, how happy both were to understand each other's designs. That is the result of their devotion, passion, penance & practice of so many years. Wow. Fantastic.

Like the way Rahul Sharma bowed to Ustad ji after the performance.. thats the reverence towards music and the maestro and the humility in Rahul Sharma .. Thanks for suggesting Stevie Ray Vaughan by the way..

Guys... it feels so good that we all ‘resonate’ to these sound waves, where our ears are used to completely different things... it’s so true that music brings people together. Also it gives me joy every time you guys mention Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Eric Clapton... being an amateur guitarist myself, I know where these guys stand compared to the maestros we heard here, and you guys are absolutely right, all of them do transport us to this limbo state, where only sense that works is subconscious!! Cheers!!!

Believe me it's possible for this level of synchronism for legendary musicians without even practicing for the particular show.

Sirs, Indian classical music is completely impromptu and elaborative. These instrument players know each other so so well, that they can understand what is his fellow player is going to play, and how I can support him... Its a complete two way communication by some musical gestures that common people (audience) do not understand. And thats why these great legends create such divine music.
