I remember building the Chair Zaku 1.0 putting the beads on the pipes was a pain in the backside because of the springs(I still rub my fingers when I think about building it). Sadly the only reason to get the old Char's Zaku now is for the 175mm Recoilless Rifle.

I got this back in the day with my first Char's Zaku 1.0. I spent months trying to reproduce some of the stuff from the mook, drove me nuts because I couldn't make look the same. But defiantly solidified my love for Zeon suits. I think the Zaku cannon is bashed together with the 1/100 zaku cannon from the 80's. There was a bunch of MSV kits, in both 1/144 and 1/100. really cool water slides for unit emblems, really worth checking out.

definitely! I built the 1/100 Real Type Gelgoog a couple years ago. Great that those kits come with water slide decals!

I found the old zaku cannon kit , the unit marking is a penguin with a zaku cannon "bunny ears" head. @@ZakuAurelius

Funny, currently working on the MG Zaku 1 and I had to heavily modify the kit just to fix the proportions (can be seen on my Insta, but I basically extended the torso, shortened the arms via the shoulder blocks and modded the feet). Of all the parts, the feet were the biggest pain to modify/re-proportion.

Yes the 1.0 Zaku ll used a spring over a plastic rod.

The green zaku with gold is dozles zaku in thunder bolts. it's just a guards zaku he used it in a game cut scene

10:25 That's not the MG Gouf 1.0 (it came out in 2000). It's a heavily modified conversion of the MG Zaku II 1.0.

Great mook! I've heard that some people actually don't love zakus; those people are crazy! Seems like these builds are light on markings; maybe excess decals was a real no-no back then.

I own this book, too! I really enjoy the dioramas that this presents. And maybe I'm a minority, but I love the 1.0 version of the Zaku; it looks enough like the anime while being updated enough to be realistic. Modern Gundam kits are lacking that philosophy.

I totally understand, and the old kits do have a certain charm! But the 2.0 Zaku II is also so nice so I'd love to have a Zaku 1 like that!

@@ZakuAurelius I so totally agree with you there; the Zaku 1 needs a main-release 2.0 kit. While the 1.0s are visually appealing, they are, in so many ways, poor kits.
